I see that you play on the Roland TD-12S, but that is discontinued, so I was wondering what drumset I should go for. I wanted to get e-drums since they are quiet and you can have different sounds, but its hard to find e-drums reviews that aren't super basic beats and fills, and they usually don't sound very realistic. (I want to learn to play metal and other faster music). I then decided I wanted to get an acoustic set, but really I still cant decide. What do you think I should go for. I really don't want to spend much more than 1K, especially considering the acoustic set I am looking at is only 800. If I had a bigger budget I'd like to go for Roland's TD-17KVX But that is $1800 which is more than double the price of the acoustic set, and they still don't sound real imo in almost all of the demos I've seen. But maybe that is just because of the samples used in the reviews Idk. Are there any good E-drums for 1000 or less, and how can I make them sound real? Thanks in advance!
Any edrum kit can sound real good, if you pair it with your computer with a midi cable (either midi to usb or with a midi interface) and use VST drums, like Addictive drums, superior drummer, ez drummer, etc. I have a Roland midi to USB cable that was about $40, but most people get interfaces for less audio lag, which is the best for playing live or for practicing while using the drum software. I'd recommend an interface if that's what you want to do, because then you can get a more budget friendly drum kit. You won't be using the onboard drum sounds that way. Alesis drums are also a good option, and are typically less expensive. Though if you don't have a computer handy to get midi to work, or if you don't want to mess with that right now, you can't go wrong with an acoustic set. They're definitely loud and require tweaking/tuning, but I feel they're better to start with so you learn proper habits. Edrum heads are usually extra bouncy and can make you develop poor habits sometimes if you switch to an acoustic set later
I like Munou more than Unravel first of all because it's math, and second of all it's discordant, which fits Kaneki wayyy more than Unravel, even in the Jason arc, imo. Plus we don't get this kind of music at all in anime openings, so I welcome this wholeheartedly amidst the generic rock anisongs.
I wrote a comment on my TV size version not too long ago, so I'll copy it here for you: It's not constant, it alternates between a couple time signatures throughout. I would subdivide the beginning as 7/4 switching to 6/4, then 7/4 switching to 5/4. This loop repeats until 0:28, except the last phrase does 6/4 instead of 5/4. Then a bar of 2/4 for the fill (or you can count 2 bars of 4/4 instead while including the preceding 6/4 measure). After that it gets easier, 11 bars of 4/4 then a bar of 6/4. That should get you started at least! You can count the time signatures a lot of different ways to make it easier for yourself. For example, I tend to count in 6/4 at 0:37 since it makes it easier for the drum part.
