  • Cast net or THROW NET fishing is one of the most popular and sure harvest fishing methods on every shallow beach on the island from the depth of 1 foot and up to 6 feet water. The most targeted fishes are Sardines, Sergeantfish, Surgeonfishes, Mullets, Milkfish, and many more. Any surface swimmer fishes and some other fish that came to feed on molds and seaweeds in any shallow part of the water are usually the easy catch, but throwing the net, in particular, need some additional skill, the more it open widely the more it catches fish, it must be in the right hold before the throw, otherwise, everything will end up nothing.
Many local Marshallese are excellent in spotting the fish despite rough water surfaces, they know where the fish is, just by looking beneath the crystal clear waves where the fish seems to mirror up once the wave is overturning they're knowledge to identify something is under it, then swiftly they'll cast the net right on to the target spot and boom! Fishes are trapped!
