You won't know until you are older how much it matters to adults and older people to interact with teens. So much can be learned for each. Teens are worth knowing and society does not make it easy for adults to interact with teens without being called sketch.
I'm a 67-year-old gay man. I've therefore got no progeny to leave anything to. But as a young teen, my great grandmother saw something in me. She was born in 1878 and died in 1978. She decided that I should be a receptacle of a small treasure of family history, stories, and photos. I've since dedicated my life in part to recording the history of my family, and have a genealogy with more than 12,000 names in it. I've tracked us back beyond the Plantagenet dynasty of England. I'm descended from Eleanor of Aquitaine, Edward the Confessor, and the earliest Kings of France. History is fascinating! People in the family now come to me with their questions about things long ago, and people long ago, because nobody else has the answers. As I've aged, I've tried to keep knowing young people, since I feel they make me stay young, and it is good for them to know me and vice versa. Running into a video like yours, which just popped up in my feed, gives me much hope. You're a great example of the "old soul" in a young body. Best wishes from Wisconsin, USA.
Wow!! That is so interesting!!! How long did it take to gather that much information and where do you even start😂!!!!! And yes I agree, history is amazing!! There’s so much to know so many little details and every part has a different story, thanks man and have a great day
@@FinnF812 I started as a teenager, and it has just been my luck that it is my nature to enjoy talking to older people. I am also fortunate that many of my relatives live to be very old, so I have had time to ask them to tell me about the family. My paternal grandfather and his brothers were all great storytellers, and I'm a good listener, so it was just a matter of writing it all down, then working through it all to sift out the bits that are legend, but not really quite true. Thanks a lot for your reply, Finn, and for being who you are and sharing that with us all.
@@BELINDA_LANE I am descended from Eleanor through two of her kids: John & Eleanor. In the case of her daughter Eleanor who married Alfonso of Castille, I am descended from two of their children: both Berengaria and Blanche. I hope you're having a very happy life where you're at!

As a now older person who has seen and done a lot in my life, I really appreciate your perspective on tapping into the experience of others, Finn. What many people miss in not doing so is caused by a handful of things that are pitfalls in their life: 1) Hurry and Impatience - Not wanting to invest the time to listen or being too busy to absorb it, 2) An unwillingness to pay attention to another's point of view because of a generational divide (Old Irish Proverb- " It is a poor man indeed who cannot even afford to pay attention.), 3 ) Narcissism - Believing you are the center of the universe, and thus no one else matters. Keep up the good work, and have that same Great Rest of Your Day you wish for everyone else.
Hey man, I really think this is an amazing message. Other people have so many good lessons, stories and experiences that you could benefit off, and just paying attention could make somebody’s day. What’s the best lesson you’ve learnt during your life?
Thanks for the nod of appreciation. I have subscribed and will chip in again if I feel I have something pertinent and worthwhile. ( I DO have some stories, believe me!)

My parents and most of my older relatives have passed. I am lucky enough to have an Aunt and Uncle still alive. I do not get to see them enough, but I love to hear their stories! My Aunt gave me a written journal of her life, I was so touched! I am in an unconventional marriage, despite my Aunt and Uncle living in the most conservative place, they have been so loving to my partner. I have come to realize that older people have great wisdom to share, and we should listen. Additionally, they want to know that we have loved ones around us who will take of us when they pass despite all conventions.
Sorry to hear of your parents and other relatives, but it’s great you still have your aunt and uncle who you still cherish. Older people do carry much knowledge, so learn as much from them as you can!!
My mom is 93 and I'm her primary caretaker. It always warms my heart when perfect strangers go out of their way to help her, like when she needs help in and out of a public bathroom. In this world in which we live in we need more kindness and understanding. And even simple gestures -- any act that comes from the heart -- are welcome. Thank you, and please continue on this path.
It's always encouraging to meet an Old Youth. The best thing you can do is accept it. And be thankful for the Old Soul tag-up with one whose voice is still young even in age.

This is a good and true message! Older people have memories and stories of the past because they were THERE, living through the times we can only read about. Also as we all get old, our friends and relatives move away or pass away, and it is hard to make new friends. Im sure your neighbor, as you say, was delighted that you guys visited and especially listened, making both your days that much more special! 😉🐶

Yeah I agree, talking with people of different ages can be benifical for both sides and I think it should be more normalised in our community
