that's not how the story goes, wukong lost to the budha not to the 3 eye shenlong, i guess they did that to shorten the intro, otherwise it would be too long, the fight would have been a lot more epic though if they did the stuck to the original story.

If you read the dialogue, it is obvious this all happens after Journey to the West. They mention he once attained Buddhahood and became one of the Court. Erlang even mentioned how he won against Sun Wukong in the past. This is what comes after. LMAO

Wukong did lose to erlang in the original (IIRC), it's just that they can't torture him and he escaped, so they asked Buddha for help.
