  • Dr Chris Brown travels to Thailand to work with a wildlife crusader named Edwin Wiek who cares for hundreds of homeless animals, many of them victims of abuse. Urgent medical attention is needed for patients including Elephants, Monkeys, and even Sun Bears! Chris also witnesses what happens when Thailand’s desperate Elephants run out of food and a place to live. It’s a touching and sometimes confronting journey.

If we could just get people to quit destroying habitats and stop getting exotic animals for pets these beautiful creatures could live in peace in the environments God made for them.
Then we would only need these centers for those that really need help to be returned back to the wild.
    Thanks for all you do.❤️

Bondi Vet is one of my favorite shows to watch. All the work they do is incredible. I am so grateful for all the work that so many people do to help the wild life and educate people about animals and the impact that we have on the habitats of those animals. I could spend every second of every day learning everything I can about all types of wild life.

If I could change anything in my life, I would definitely become a veterinarian for sure. One thing I would have done differently would be to stay in school and strive to become something really great and for me, that would include taking care of all creatures great and small. If only........😔😟💫

If you don't have money for school, animal shelters and zoo's are always looking for help. I do volunteer work at an animal shelter and it's honestly some of the most fun I've had. It's sad seeing the animals in cages, but when you have a very shy dog that wants nothing more than to lie down and sleep and you finally get him to get up and play is so beautiful.

That's so sad there are not very many elephants in the wild in Thailand anymore. It breaks my heart seeing these animals in captivity when they should be in the wild!
That poor elephant with the absess, that's horrible how badly they get treated. Ppl treat them like crap and feed them and then wonder why the animals attack or why they are in populated areas causing trouble, geeze!! Let them be wild animals and look at them from a distance, that's the best way to see animals is in their own habitat!!
I really liked this episode, thanks for sharing!!!!!

April Chamberlain: I totally agree with your statements here! Don't you just LOVE how people are shocked when their "pets" strike back......Only sad thing is that the humans involved usually end up killing the animal. But at least the animal got the last say......

You are truly inspirational Dr. Brown and I only wish Thailand's government would take care of their animals and people why not. They should pass rules, guidelines but yeah its going to take an International village to help and I want to help but there are so.many causes that need help, how do I choose the right one. In Australia right now not only are we now facing the COVID-19, epidemic but this country faced the fires, which killed people & animals and than you had rain and currently the Coronavirus. I would like to help this wondeful man who is so dedicated also and, and well, I'll check to see if there's a link posted to send at least $10.00 a month. . .something is better than nothing right? Thank you so much for having a golden & humble heart- everyone here on this video- lots of love & wishing all of you a rainfall of Blessings.💕💕

It is sad that people lose their respect for elephant. My father spent 6 years making a document series on elephant so I grew up around them. I was taught how to approach them, reading their bodies, their huff and whistle.
Elephants were treated much like human in the past and would be addressed as family members. The hook must be used properly as a mean to communicate and not to hurt the elephants. Only gentle words must be used and deep respect must be shown when you "ask" them to do things for you. Specific terms were created for them like Khong (herd) and we don't use the word "Tai" which means "die" (for human and animal) with elephant, instead we use "Lhom" which means "Fallen".
While pet funeral is now a thing, elephant is probably the only animal in Thailand that receives human funeral since the ancient time with monks being invited to bless them a peaceful next life.
I remember an incident of a drunken mahout was killed by a bull elephant. He was a nanny to a juvenile calf. The man was drunk and approached a bull, shouting insults at him. The bull was a massive one with history of abuses and suffered a bad case of PTSD before being purchased by my father's friend for rehab at his sanctuary. He was a bull with massive tusks but was sold cheap so we knew he had a "history". He was stable at the time but the drunken man made the wrong choice so the bull was upset and lashed out.
The calf saw his nanny being tossed around and pieced by an angry bull broke off his pen and made a run at the raging bull elephant. What happend next was other adult elephants came between the bull and the baby, defending him before other handlers could get the situation under control.
You know what, the bull was not blamed. He even cried once he calmed down. The owner held a ceremony to shear off the tip of his tusks so bad things would leave him. He lived his full life quietly until his last day with no other incident.
How smart are they? I once observed Thailand's best elephant doctor tried to give pills to a senior elephant. Most elephants would enjoy eating pills hidden in banana but not this one. She spit the pills out like shooting pea.
