Just to add what you said about Saudi Arabia, in Latin America, especially Brazil, there was no chance of a PS2 without a modchip. 95% of PS2s sold in Brazil had modchips, initially retail stores sold sealed consoles and owners put modchips in videogame repair shops, but, from 2008, some large stores in Brazil realizing that they could make money with modchips too, started selling PS2 with modchips. It was unbelievable, giant companies like "Carrefour" (a French Wallmart, famous in Brazil), selling modified PS2s. Anyway, this was a consequence of two reasons, the Playstation division was never officially in here, only from 2010 with the PS3, so, before, playing backup games was the only option. Second reason was the high price and taxes, A single original game cost practically 1/3 of the average salary of a brazilian worker. Latin America helped a lot in PS2 sales and Sony never valued it. Your videos are great, congrats!
thank you for adding this detail, its interesting to hear i hope a bunch of people see this
i still need to get my hands on a THUNDER modchip from brazil
@@RETROGAMINGARTS Bro, if I can help you in any way, send me an email ... There are 3 or 4 versions of Thunder, "Pro 2 Gold" is the most complete ...
@@araujofi YOOOOOO
@@araujofi you got the hookup??
I made my first attempt at wiring a modbo to a ps2. My only other experience wiring a mod was for my PS1. I really appreciate your videos. They are excellent primers. I did half of my mod without watching anything and then I watched your other video on your process and I noticed a decent improvement in my soldering. I will try again after mid febuary.
Now this is some Soldering Job ASMR! Love that wire management you pulled off!
Thank you, it's no where near as good as some of my other videos/modwork but I'm glad you appreciated it
You're pretty spot on about the middle eastern pre-modded systems! One of the last times I visited Jordan I saw several pre-modded PS2s available in shops. They were much more expensive, selling for about $300 USD when you could buy them in the US for $100 or a bit more. However it was a lot harder and more expensive to find original titles, while as pressed silver bootlegs were $1 or $2 USD each.
That's actually really interesting and valuable details, it adds a nice element
Love this cable management. welldone!
Из глаз течет кровь :)
Man the wiring, soldering and everything is so professional and nicely done! very satisfying to watch.
I'm happy you enjoyed this, thank you so much for watching. Lots of stuff like this on my channel
God damn, that's some of the best wire looming / wire management I have ever seen. Well done mate.
3:01 I live in Saudi Arabia and you’re 100% right. We had problems when booting PS1 games, because modchips have varieties in booting backups.
You are the best in modding a ps2 i love all your videos and all your work keep it up 👍👍
You = hero. I'll keep doing this and more
Same thing in Brazil. We didn't have official ps2 til 2009, so the ones that we bought pretty much all came modded. My uncle bought one in the store "sealed" and it was modded.
I modded my Fat PS2 59001 back in 06 and let me tell you even then, at 26, it kicked my ass!! The mod was definitely above my head and my soldering skills were about as bad as someone trying to cut their own hair with a potato peeler during an earthquake.. I done spent money on a bunch of bullshit from Radioshack like a set of helping hands lol.. Needless to say, about 4 hours later, I was actually successful, but the motherboard looked like rice noodles exploded all over it with puddles of hot glue everywhere!! It was definitely a humbling experience, especially seeing the level of expertise and pride that you guys put in your work.. This mod is a fucking work of art and I could never emulate that even if I practiced every day.. Much respect and I hope the PS4 can be fully modded one day..
Really like the color choice of wires reminds me of blue/purple ps2 logo on the front of the console
Your work is phenomenal. Love the video too. Would love to hear more stories and facts about how you've gotten into do this etc on the voice overs
Good, cuz that's exactly what I plan to do. Thanks for checking out my ps2 vids, in my main squeeze so I do alot of them lol.
PRETTY! Outstanding work. I can solder, but not as well as you, and I really enjoy your wire colors and layout. P.S. I subscribed, and of course thumbs-up! All good wishes.
Thank you so so so much. Means alot, especially cuz this was a super old one. Thank you for checking out my channel, lots of stuff like this on there
@@RETROGAMINGARTS Just randomly found your channel looking up ps2 stuff. Impressive work! I just scored 2 fats, two slims, two fat ps3s & one xbox 360 for $100! They need a little tlc, mostly cosmetic. I've been assured they work although haven't tested them yet. I don't know, I thought that was a complete steal even if some do not work! It's my understanding that most can be repaired but hopefully I won't have to fix anything but just clean them up! Nice channel by the way! I'm always impressed with folks who do stuff like this. It's one thing to know what you're doing, an entirely different thing to do it so well! Anyway, thought I'd share my score!😉
Davbere and NorCal mods I haven't heard those names in years! I was from psx-scene as well. Matrix Infinity was my chip install of choice back then. I can't count how many I installed. These days it's all about FCMB and OPL and trying to get through a multi Terabyte backlog of PS2 games I never got to play because I was too busy modding :)
hell yes! i feel you, omg i cant even begin to express how much i understand how you feel
Nice job man, i love it!
So I kinda got hooked to stuff like this after seeing my uncle do these kinds of things a lot and eventually I wanted to started doing it like I have the tools but idk what kind of soldering kit to get for handhelds/consoles
Your PS2 mods are tops! Thanks for posting
Thanks alot, got any video stuff you wanna see? I value and trust your input so I would love to hear from you specifically
@@RETROGAMINGARTS Thanks man, I really appreciate it. I'd love to see a video (at some point) where you've made a mistake installing something and your process for fixing it. Like when I first started doing PS2 mod chips, I had a hard time soldering to the super small vias on one model and ended up ripping out a couple of traces. Or videos on taking in a broken PS2, Dreamcast, Saturn, etc and fixing it then modding it. Thanks again!
@@RETROGAMINGARTS Another thought I had, which may or may not be great, is to do more videos on the business side of console modding. Seems like a lot of modders get burned out. Wondering why that is and how to avoid it. Also, how to find customers in the first place. Super Thanks!
Great video Paul. Your work is art!
Dude, thank you so much, also, I never got to properly thank you for all the support at RWX, if you need anything in anyway, come to me. I got you
Another piece of art work :D
Didnt knew about the Saudi Arabian consoles all beeing modded, so i learned somthing today.
Very curious what the 30 hour project is.
Glad that small tid bit was interesting, and man oh man... this project is so sick. Ima put alot of effort into finishing it so I can get a video out about it
Awesome vid bud. Looking forward to the next.
This cable management really pleased me.
Thank you. I got alot of videos like this on youtube and all pictures of my work on instagram
This was a neat Job, bravo man
Thanks alot. And thank you for watching
Therapeutic. Nicely dond mate!
Same here in kuwait bahrain and uae. Those countries doesn't buy a stock ps2 console. Cause it's not a big deal if it doesn't play region or vlone games
Amazing video! Looks awesome!
Awesome time-lapse video... Thanks for the content and tutorials...
Who still does PS2 mods that are on par with this and davbere, jinn, etc?
I am from Iraq and i bought it new i think i paid $170a ps2 and all the games in Baghdad priced at $1 only so you know what thats mean, your work look very nice, its look like pcb traces,
Excelente trabajo, la soldadura y el uso de los cables es asombroso 🔥🔥👐🏽
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoy my wire routing, this one isn't as good as some of my other videos
OMG i remember doing these the 1st DMS4 i remember pinching the kynar and womdering why it would "boot loop" did about 100 after that but never appeared this good! this is modding most people would never fully get unless they have done it. The wires look big on the video but are sooo tiny and a small slip of the soldering iron is hours of work to get the contacts free'd.. I started with the ps1 and modded all the way till the wii original then stopped console mods and went pc
I'm so happy you stumbled across this video then, I'm happy you remember and understand
ARTE PURO!
Goddamn your wiring sorting skill are out of this world! Question, with this modchip you can load isos from the HDD ?
mis respetos te quedan bien limpias las instalaciones
So satisfying to watch :D
What kind of glue do you use to hold wire in place ? Thx
Super glue, I did 3 other videos that are very in depth on how to do exactly this. Check em out. Thank you for watching this
I actually got the notification. Click the bell guys lol. Random question paul. Have you ever made a mod baord from scratch like for really old consoles like the nes or Atari? Just wondering
Yeah my PS2 slim from Riyadh in Saudi has a warranty seal in Arabic but has a modchip preinstalled
Thank you for confirming this
Cheers Paul 🍻!
Thats probably not 10000 times speed, rather 10000% speed
I appreciated this video
Any videos on your video game convention you recently went to? RGC had to leave early and didn't get to see you.
Sup Michael, I filmed my panel, but it's not public, in discord i can send you the private link if you wanna see
@@RETROGAMINGARTS.....I do want to see it. I gotta get discord again. I'LL let you know when I do it. I got until this upcoming Monday when I can.
Wow, that's a beauty!
Thanks yo , you should see the psp I'm building, I'll post it on IG and I'll make a video about it too. It's so dope
Personally, I would like to see those wire runs as short as possible, because the longer a wire is, the more subseptable it is to interference.
Yoooo meth buddy. Ive been putting this mod off. Maybe this vid will inspire me to get on it. You got a link to a qebsite w good install diagram instructions
Soo i live there and you're actually right every system sells with modchip but the problem is no one knows it's modded like my self when i was young , yesterday i went and opened both my ps2's fat and slim and i was shocked it has a modchip my fat has super7 e17 modchip and my slim has g-9 both of which are very rare and not well knows chips i was looking all over the internet about both chips but sadly nothing , back in the day you can't get the official games only bootlegs both for games and not very memory cards i actually have san andreas and vice city but not the official games their bootlegs , sadly like VERY SADLY they are scratched and i can't make a backup of them bacause they are VERY rare and i would like people to try them and see for them selfs , also i should mention this you ABSOULOTLY can't find component or rgb in middle east or composite because who cares right?? so european people has the advantage of rgb but us? NOPE! only composite video
also if anyone knows about super7 or g-9 modchips and how to access their menus i'd appreciate it.
Do you plan to do a video about explaining what is been modded exactly on the board? About the microchips and what is been bypassed in that process? Which pins you connect to the mod and why etc. ?
I have several other videos about this mod and what it does, how to install it, I have a different video about the several different types of chips and what they all do and the difference between them. I also wrote a pastebin about everything I know about this mod and what each point does, ect ect. Feel free to check out more of my ps2 videos on my channel there's alot of information. Thank you for watching this one
@@RETROGAMINGARTS This is the first video of yours I am watching. Sorry for not checking your channel before asking. Will do. Thanks alot!
All good. Check em out and if I was unclear about any info please dont hesitate to ask, I got your back I'll explain anything. Sometimes in my videos I go off on tangents about stuff so I may leave a few things out
I was expecting Voultar to be mentioned but...))
Great work
Thank you
so neat
Skills !!!
Hey bud, you got anymore of those modbos?
Need one for a v7 as well here
I thought i heard a king of fighters 96 theme song in the background
You did. And kof2002 unlimited Match also
Impressive!!!
i'm from iran every ps2 that sold past there also been moded ps2
Thank you for letting us know that 😁
Не понятно зачем это нужно, но было приятно смотреть
😊👍
Retrogamingarts,
Its been a long time and you might not remember me but I was able to collaborate with another member on assemblergames now obscuregame(r)? Anyways the comsoft fix was tested and so was summ0nes on the other members systems. I tried on mine and learned to use double sided tape. Anyways, I can confirm from them it works, if I make a schematic would you be willing to try a v9 or v10/11? Gonna try to create the forum post in a few days and will give the link.
Absolutely yes I will!
@@RETROGAMINGARTS looks like someone created a forum post, still have to work an official schematic. Link is www.obscuregamers.com/threads/ps2-matrix-pic-fix-hex.1825/ it has all of the points listed in the files just need to pull it all together. Reference my last post for the most details.
Thanks again! Hope your in good health!
30 hour mod video? are you installing a NEO4?
Hahahah, I wish if I had one! And no, this is something that's never been done before😉
Que modelo de ps2 fat es? Yo quiero instalar el modchip 4.0 para la SCPH-39001 me pueden darme los diagramas para esa versión.
same in algeria :') No chance to put ur hand on reatail PS2
MY STYLE IS MAKING A YELLOW FLEX PCB AND EVERYTHING IS ALREDY IN PLACE MUCH EASY
remember the DMS4 EZI with the clips and the wires? lolol
@@RETROGAMINGARTS SOMETHING LIKE THIS www.ourpcbte.com/products-detail/flex-pcb-manufacturer/flex-pcb-manufacturer03/
i only need to know wich chip they use for the mod so i dont have to steal chips from hard modbo boards, my prototype wasmade in kapton tape and jumper wire 0.2mm
Can you make a tutorial to install Modbo 5.0 on PS2 Fat series SCPH 3500, please
I think I can yea, I have a 3500 laying around. Did you see the pastebin I wrote about modding ps2s? Very helpful
Yo where u beeeeeen
Life, but ima do my best to come back like woah, I think I'm finnaly on track
Hey what is the gauge on those wires you used? I want to get a roll or two I want the smallest ones
30awg kynar
@@RETROGAMINGARTS thanks man.
I'm curious where you can buy modded (with chip) PS2 consoles. Of course from a place that's trustworthy. Would really like to know.
I post some on instagram every once in a while. Whenever I make them I sell them, but I dont do alot these days
does the Mobdo 5.0D plays psx backups natively on the ps2 fat ? or does it use OPL to run them ?
native, no need for opl with modchip
Hello! How do you glue the wires to the Board?
I did like 3 other videos about the ps2 modding, check em out I go over all these techniques in full detail
@@RETROGAMINGARTS How do you fix the wires to the Board?
10000 times speed
I wonder if 120min/5min=10000?
wallpaper ???? xD
First. Keep up the good work.
You didnt go all the way and speak at time lapse speed.
For shame.
Shout Aldo.
That would be crazy
What tools did you use to install that chip?
Check my "ps2 modbo 750 install video" it shows all the tools used in depth. I also have around 10 ps2 videos like this that will explain everything in vivid detail. But the modbo750 install video is the one you want to watch. It was one of my most recents
@@RETROGAMINGARTS Ok. I'll check it out. Thanks!
ii use soft mode i wish some day I able soft mode Xbox 360
I dont even know how to sort of an xbox360, I'd use the cool runner board
вентиляторы на видяхе не работают
0,25x still look so fast 😅
Should I do another time lapse of another modchip? It's quick and easy to make
@@RETROGAMINGARTS yes, thanks 😅 yesterday i try modbo 5.0 on fat series 3000x the result is blank no signal so unsolder the mod 😅 i think its same like slim series but its really different, specially the CX i don't know where is it
强迫症,反正封装在机器的里面又看不到
And finally, the PS2 don't work.
Your RESET point is wrong, young padawan !
Pfffffff....... -_-
How so? There alternate points for reset
@@RETROGAMINGARTS
NO ! It's not an alternate point !
Your mod is wrong ! this PS2 can't work !
En Français:
Ton point RESET est faux ! La console ne peut pas fonctionner.
La preuve ? On ne voit qu'un montage, pas sa finalité !
