      please need help : best microphone to record ocean waves (i have clippy i feel like it takes too much surrounding near by i saw your video about clippy recording at beach i get the same result )

      If you're looking to focus on a specific sound source and not capture all of your surroundings, you should consider cardioid microphones rather than omnidirectional ones. I believe Mic Booster offers a pair.
      Is this the clarity and direction you were looking for?

    This is such a great way to record. I bought the BP4025 (based on your great recommendation BTW) which I love, but am finding that while recording in an urban environment, it just draws too much attention (with the proper wind protection). I have a couple of cheap lav mics that I might try out and see if this type of set up works better for me. Thx!

    Thanks for the video, I'm learning some useful tips from your videos, would be nice if you make a mic/audio recorder comparison, a lot of stuff out there to choose from.

      Hi Justin, oh yes. That way we can record more in different places. Different locations, different sounds and sometimes we’re not long enough in one place.

    Awesome as always!!!!!!! you should also compare adding the clippys to the bag as well for a low cost alternative so people can hear those compared to the DPA's in your upcoming comparison!

      Hi Michael! That would be great but I don’t own the Clippys and the dummy head. This is the equipment from our friend here in Jeju. But we are still here so maybe I could find a way to attach the DPA to the dummy head?

      I second this! I'm thinking of getting a pair of the Clippy XLR em272s so it would be great to hear how they sound using this kind of setup in the bag!

    You know what. I’ve watched this video several times and you gave me a great idea. I have a Lowepro backpack and on each side is a very thing pouch for things like water bottles. What I’m going to try is to put a microphone on each side of the backpack inside each pouch. One left. One right. Stereo. I have two good quality small lav Audio Technica AT943 mics. I have a DIY little plastic enclosure for each mic with huge openings so sound gets in and over that I have a furry windshield. I wish they were Omni’s but for now the cardioids will have to do. I can buy replacement Omni capsules for those mics and I think that would be better. The mics will be separated by the with of the bag which is slightly wider than my head. Do you think this could work? I’ll try it out tomorrow but I’m wondering what your opinion is on this.

    Very cool way of recording stereo ambience! This type of lavaliere is much bigger sounding!

      @FreeToUseSounds  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Christian! That was one of the main reason why I bought these mics. The sound quality is great and fit in any pocket :)

  • @yuvalgilboamusic
    @yuvalgilboamusic ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for this video! I would like to ask, do you think that a pair of two DPA 4060 can record good ambient or stereo image? for an example: what if I record in a church and want to get the reverb of the room or to catch a nice string quartet sound? would you recommend me to buy them?
    In addition I will say that my idea is to record music throughout the world without carrying a lot of gear yet being versatile. Therefore I though about getting the MKH416 (For vocal), the 4099 (For guitar) and two 4060 for the reasons I mentioned above.
    Thank you!

    Hi, danke für das Video! Ich geniesse es immer wieder, von Euch auf TH-cam in neue Klangwelten mitgenommen zu werden.
    Ich überlege mir gerade, wie ich unseren nächsten Urlaub audiografisch (gibt's das Wort?) einfangen kann. DPA 4060 sind mein Favorit, da ich schon eins habe, daher kommt der Tipp mit dem Rucksack super gelegen. Eine Frage: Durch den Korb haben die 4060 ja eine (austauschbare) Präsenzanhebung. Lohnt es sich, auf den Korb zu verzichten, kann man das "in der Post" gradebiegen, oder ist es gar nicht so schlimm?
    Im übrigen finde ich schon dass die 4060 deutlich weniger detailliert sind als Eure Schoeps. Aber dafür sind sie "die Kamera, die man dabei hat". Bin sehr gespannt aufs 4560, v. A. wie bequem und wie (un-)auffällig das ist.

    Die Idee mit den Löchern im Rucksack ist toll. Ich muss mal schauen, ob ich mir auch sowas basteln kann. In meinem Fall mit den Clippys. Mein Rucksack war billig, da sind mir etwas größere Löcher egal.
    Die binauralen DPAs sind sicher toll. Viel wird davon abhängen, wie windempfindlich sie sind, wenn sie im Gehörgang sitzen. Aber ein F3 am Handgelenk und diese binauralen Mikros - das wäre schon die Luxusvariante des stealth-recordings. Ich wünsch dir tausende hervorragende Aufnahmen mit den Mikros.
    Und an dieser Stelle einfach nochmal danke für deine extrem inspirierende Arbeit und die tollen Videos von euch.
    Viele Grüße - Til.

      Danke Dir Til! Ja da bin ich auch echt mal gespannt, aber ich werde diese Mikros meisten nur "interior" benutzen.

    Marcel, thanks for always sounding great!
    I use the DPA4060 because I admire your great sound, but RF noise is inevitable in any location.
    My DPA4060 recordings are recorded with noise sound.
    But your sound has no noise sound at all.
    Do you cut the noise part in your editing? Or is the noise not recorded in the recording in the first place?

    • @FreeToUseSounds
      @FreeToUseSounds  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Are you referring to radio interference? I haven't experienced that with any of the DPA microphones I use. If you're talking about the RF noise showcased in the Zoom M4 and Zoom M2 video I never had that or do you referring just to the self-noise of the microphones? Please let me know.

    • @tokyodrivestorydashcam3712
      @tokyodrivestorydashcam3712 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FreeToUseSounds Yes, I am talking about referring to radio interference.
      I am referring to the RF noise shown in the Zoom M4 and Zoom M2 videos!!
      It is exactly the same noise sound!!
      I use both Tascam portacapture x8 and Zoom F3, and noise is recorded on both.
      My recording equipment and yours are the same.
      However, I found one difference. That is that the cables of the DPA4060 microphones were coil the cable and bundled together.
      In this video you are freeing the cables in your bag.
      First I will stop coil the cable and bundling the cable and test to see if the noise sound goes away.
      I will contact you again when the noise is resolved.
      Thanks!

      Have you found out what caused your rf noise, and why the guy in the video does not have any noise?

    Ha ! You are reading my mind Marcel ! I just got my Usi's delivered today so I'm VERY happy and I've been thinking of trying out different bags for stealth. I got the 3.5mm Usi cable and the XLR cable, so can use them with my H1n or H6. Shame there's no app. Maybe the Sony PCM-A10 would have been better because that has a good app. Thanks so much anyway, Looks like the same kind of setup you used in the past in airports and at the market in Cyprus.

    • @FreeToUseSounds
      @FreeToUseSounds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah nice! Great microphones but keep in mind how sensitive they are and make sure you don't have the gain to high. You can quickly hit the red on the 24 bit recorder.

    • @cryptotrader2779
      @cryptotrader2779 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FreeToUseSounds Thanks so much for the tip. I haven't used them yet because they only arrived an hour or two ago. I expect I'll find out soon how sensitive they are. I'll probably go out later with the H1n and do some stealth on the street or supermarket.
