Say what you want about this period of the Stones career, but they came back with a vengeance to stake the claim as the world’s greatest rock and roll band.
The 80's started off well with the Emotional Rescue and Tattoo You albums, and then the '81 tour. But by '85-86 it was a train wreck. The 2 albums after Tattoo You were letdowns. They did not even do a set at Live Aid together. Jagger's solo work was pretty forgettable, but Keith's was really good. But Keith summed it up when they hammered out their peace-treaty when he said to the others that, "The Stones are bigger than all of us." And then they hammered out a pretty solid album with Steel Wheels and a very well-received tour to give a good bookend to an otherwise rough decade.
RS are like a R&R live jukebox! They can literally play for 2 hours straight and not repeat a song. What a catalog of hits! They don’t need to release anything new. They have achieved everything a Rock band can!
This was my first time seeing the Stones (after failed attempts in '75 and '81) and was worth the wait. The stage was something out of this world, so huge and massive. I agree that the sound was terrible but the stadium acoustics did not help, the lighting was fantastic. There is nothing like a Stones concert, I went to see it with my two best buddies and had a great time, thanks Glimmer stone for putting this together! RIP Charlie Watts and Bobby Keys.
The Stones were playing tight this night. The best live version of Bitch I’ve ever heard. The whole show is great but that song stood out to my ears! It’s one of my favorites! Thanks for making this available! 😊

Saw them on this tour in October 1989 in Birmingham, AL. My 1st Stones show. Had 14th row seats just right of center stage. I was mesmerized the whole show! I was 23 and I’m 58 now and can still remember most every song! Thanks for posting!
Have seen them same time in Munich. Urban Jungle / Steel Wheels Tour - on of the best shows ever. The Montreal show has a great set list. Thanks for sharing
Keith sounds so good here like on Ruby Tuesday and always brings the riffs. Happy is always my favorite part of the show.especially Keith just bringing it home on guitar at the end of the song.....you can't help but smile.
En esa gira de 1989 los vi en New York, soy uruguayo llegue aproximadamente en julio y tocaban creo que en el mes de octubre. Ya estaban todas las entradas vendidas. Pero me fui bien temprano y hice negocio con un revendedor. Inolvidable concierto, fue mi primer concierto the STONES. 😊
Saw Stones live 4 months before in Barcelona 1990 at Olimpic Stadium with the Urban Jungle Tour, fantastic show. Scotish band GUN open for the Stones, pure teenager rock energy🎸🎸♂️💥💥😎
Saw show few day later in AC..... guest included John Lee Hooker, Axel Rose and Eric Clapton. Last show of the tour. If memory’s correct Keith’s birthday.
They looked very sharp for this show in Montreal! I like how they looked and played! This show should be released on DVD officially. A great later show that still had Charlie and Bill! Very cool! 😊 Plus they played 2000 years from Satanic Majesty’s which never gets played live! That’s Rare! 😮
cool was at one of these shows. Have to check my stub for what night I saw them and you had another show I saw in Buffalo for still life tour 1981 or 82 think it was 81 awesome thanks !
I am watching this now, November 2024 and wonder if Vernon Reid and his friends knew just how close they were to legendary greatness and appreciated their stint with Keith & Co..
I was there at the Big Owe. It was freezing outside and I had to piss something fierce. I was so far back that the video on the big screens reached me before the sound, so the lead guitar playing wasn't in sync. Beer was also in short supply.
I was at this concert. I waited overnight when tickets went on sale and got seats on the floor of the Olympic stadium. The sound wasn't very good unfortunately where I was located and the stadium isn't a great place for a concert but I had blast anyways watching my favorite band play. I saw them for the first time in Toronto Sept 4 1989 at the beginning of the tour so I knew what to expect. Tickets were $40 and everyone was complaining how expensive they were...if we only knew what tickets would cost nowadays!! My only dislike was that the show was now very polished and structured unlike previous tours which had a cool looseness and rawness that I miss about the Stones live since 1989....I prefer the wilder vibe they had in their previous days.
Anybody who plays guitar will know what I'm saying....when Keith starts that solo at 1:35:17 he is no longer in his body. There is nobody in that stadium or on the stage. You become detached until something kind of brings you back into focus. It's like you stop playing the music and the music starts playing you. It's very powerful. You can be a great player technically, hit all the right notes, look pretty and smile into the camera while you're playing, but until you let the music take control you will never emotionally move anybody.
Recuerdo bastente bien que esa epóca se llamaba via satelite y canal 9 hizo dos preaentaciones una en Filadelfia si mal no recuerdo y la otra en Atlantic city con invitados ,Eric Claptonj.lee Hooker y Axl Rose
