That she was in the grave for 72 hours does not harmonize exactly the gospel account of Christ arising on the morning of the first day. There is a difference between exclusive and inclusive reckoning of time. A part of a day counts as a day. Ie "on the third day ..." Yet "three days and three nights. " Or perhaps the start of Jesus bearing our sins actually began in Gethsemane. The main thing is that Jesus died for our sins and rose again.
Great sermon series! Loving it. One thing. Doesn’t the text actually seem to indicate that Jonah Died in the whale and was resurrected? This would also make Jesus application of this parallel to his own death and resurrection more accurate. Just curious.
In the list of Jonah's Not-quite There Prayer number 4 . I believe Jonah acknowledge the cause, in Chapter 1 verse 12 , for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you. I love the point of the sermon Jonah is everything Jesus was not but Jesus still use Jonah's miracle in foreshadowing His death. Judgement and Salvation. Salvation comes from the Lord.
This is a great series, thank you for sharing !
