    Yes Michael Cera is Canadian. However, the whole movie was written by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen about their time at high school in British Columbia Canada, hence Sera’s name being Evan and Jonah’s name being Seth.

    It's just teenage bromance, dude. The phallus obsession is most likely a personal insecurity he's always had. Doesn't mean he's gay or gay for his bro.

    I love that ending where the boys find girls and become men and part ways. Pretty damn symbolic to many of our lives.

  • @notjerod5076
    @notjerod5076 ปีที่แล้ว +36

    The point of that ending was to show how they're so used to doing everything together and talking about the shit they want to do with girls. And when the girls finally come into the picture, they're stunned that they're separating and actually getting to do those things. I thought it was funny you thought Seth was gay for Evan, but it could be possible. I think it's just a slight exaggeration of brodom and how a lot of bros interact with each other. Maybe it's because I am similar to Seth, in terms of stature, also it didn't help actually watching the movie. Because I just based my entire personality off of him for about 2 1/2 years, but whatever. Great reaction.

    • @abc123tiktok
      @abc123tiktok ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is far more closer brodom than this out there. But to be fair this is movie wouldn't be that crazy of idea if they lowkey did this. It honestly be better than most romance movies I feel with massive exaggeration rather than something subtle.

    Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the writers, grew up in Vancouver, Canada and went to school at West Point Grey Secondary school. Obviously, this is a work of fiction, but there are some easter eggs for people from here. The names of 90% of the characters are 100% real. They interviewed the real "McLovin," Steve Fogel, on the news when this was first released. Some of the places they reference are in Vancouver. There was a liquor store at that corner that McLovin mentions on Granville Street back in the 90s. I grew up in White Rock, a suburb of Vancouver and except for the stuff with the cops, this is incredibly realistic. I feel like I'm back in high school watching this. I knew guys like these characters. The major difference is that most of the kids in the movie are white and we're definitely a minority here. Most of the kids I knew were Indian (the real kind), black and East Asian (Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Filipino). Every girl I knew wanted a black or brown guy. Granted, who doesn't love Indian food? I love a good vindaloo, butter chicken, biryani or pakoras. This isn't just your standard, gross out teen comedy. There's a realism to a lot of this that I really appreciate and even when it goes off into teenage nerd fantasy, I can't complain. I felt like this in the 90s. I wouldn't put this in the same category as most gross out teen comedies like Porkys or American Pie because there's actual writing here and it feels like there's an effort to create some kind of reality for much of the movie. It isn't entirely teenage fantasy. I love how awkward everyone is. That's exactly what high school is like. Nobody is as confident as the kids in American Pie.

    I didn't realize how heavy I was until I kind of fell on a fence. I was trying to climb over it to get my hide away key since I forgot mine. I can't climb very well and have mobility issues, and thought that maybe I could use a ladder to help me. The temperature was about 11° and my roommate wouldn't be home until six hours later with no car to use. One leg went over and as I tried to get the other leg over, I fell on the top of the fence where it was between my legs. The pain was horrendous. I was stuck for a while and had to use my boney butt to help get me over, I don't know how I did it, but I got out of it. My neighbor helped me after that. I was bleeding really bad and thought I had riped something, thankfully I didn't, I did bruise my pelvic bone and it was painful for weeks after that. So I know how it feels to get kicked, maybe worse probably.

Also boobs so, equal doodler. That deep bond of friendship love they had was sweet. It was kind of sad to see them start to go their own ways at the end. I had a childhood friend that stayed in the same town as we grew up in and we stayed that close right up till he passed away last year. We had thrown this movie into our rotation. Good days. Good memories.

    6:35 - This is a bit of a joke in itself as tiramisu is not something that you cook. You basically just whip up a bunch of stuff (egg yolks, sugar, mascarpone, egg whites, and cream), fold it together, and layer it with ladyfinger cookies soaked in espresso (and Kahlua or Marsala but obviously a school would omit that). It’s all done cold, like an icebox cake.

    A little constructive criticism... You're obviously an intelligent, well spoken, insightful, and conscientious sort of guy and I sincerely appreciate the way that comes across in your reactions. That being said, it seems like you're taking these movies way too seriously. It's a comedy. It's thin on narrative and realism and is mostly just there for the laughs. It's not meant to be taken seriously. The constant pausing to deconstruct a scene and criticize factual errors is really tedious and totally unnecessary. That sort of thing would be better suited for more serious fare... period dramas, art films, and the like. For a movie like this one, it just sort of sucks the joy out of the experience. I mean... maybe not for you. You kept laughing, so it seems like you were enjoying yourself, but I have to say that it wasn't much fun watching from this end. Again, I mean no disrespect to you whatsoever. You seem like a really decent person. Food for thought. ✌

      @bawrukid8734 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      from a reaction channels point of view you are here to see what he has to say and it is assumed you have already seen the movie....it also no fun just to watch someone watch a movie without knowing what they are thinking...i will say tho he should finish the scene before commenting on it because sometimes he says something and not even 5 seconds latter they tell him the answer to what he was wondering about. but that also gives us a little more insight on what is going on in his mind at random times

    • @ubit397
      @ubit397 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@bawrukid8734 I see what you're saying and I obviously can't speak for anyone aside from myself, but I definitely don't watch movie reactions to hear a detailed deconstruction of every other scene or having every continuity error or factual inaccuracy pointed out during a silly, shallow comedy flick. That sort of thing is interesting in a serious, detailed biopic, historical film, period drama, or a "high art" concept film. Stopping the movie to point out those details in a two dimensional comedy that isn't meant to be taken at all seriously isn't the least bit interesting. It's actually really boring. Commentary is one thing and you're right. I DO want hear some, but this is something else entirely. 🤷‍♂️

    Mr. Boyd
    I believe I can make women understand what getting kicked in the groin as a man feels like
    Testicles are ovaries. Men start out as women in utero, and then we continue evolving until we're perfect
    Testicles are just ovaries that have fallen out of the body and hang on the outside
    Therefore, since it is the exact same organ, I believe that when a woman has her menstrual cycle, the stomach pain, she feels the deep gut ache, I believe is the exact same one that men get after getting hit in the groin.
    Why not? It's the exact same wiring. The same nervous system, the exact same location in the brain where we feel it

    In high school my best friend and I were basically both Seth. With more obsession with female body parts.

    Lol, SuperBad was from the time in the 21st Century, where it was unthinkable that the Main Characters would end up going Gay after failing with the Ladies...

    You must’ve not been around many white Boys then because the dialect in this movie is on point lol. 😅 The characters are based off of Seth Rogan and Evan Goldbergs experiences being in High School.

    Dude I honestly do like you. You're eloquent and generally very insightful in your reactions. When reacting to a movie like this you have to let the film play though. We may as well be watching the commentary on the DVD. The film is hilarious, let it be hilarious and choose your moment to have an opinion. I can't watch you speak over Superbad for half an hour.

    You must have either been homeschooled or you had awful friends sir. This was very much my high school experience.
