I don't know if compensated barrels wear faster or not. I think it can throw off accuracy because of bullet rotation because of the lans and grooves. But companies still make ported barrels so it must not be an issue, The dirt residue is going to be the same with an external comp. By the way, when I sent my Prodigy back Springfield Armory say they don't recommend S&B ammunition because of the hard primers. Great information my friend!
Well, heck, when I reached out to them, they told me the exact same thing concerning the Fiocchi ammo 🤦🏻♂️. Barrel fouling is normal for sure but this seemed like a very extreme case of it in sure fashion like 450 rounds. I ask them to recommend a ammo and they would only say what they didn’t recommend
My prodigy loves sellers& ballot and haaattteeesss fiocchi Only issues I’ve had with mine is running fiocchi poop ammo Got about 1500 rounds through mine only 50 rounds of fiocchi and about 10 rounds of the box gave me issues
Yeah sadly I’ve had some issues with Fiocchi lately across the board. Thanks for watching and for commenting and be sure to subscribe if you have not already.
I think Compensator barrels (not cone comps because they’re independent to the barrel) can wear way faster than Ported barrels and will have more an affect on accuracy than ported barrels….not saying ported barrels won’t wear faster but in my experience ported barrels are more accurate and last a bit longer than compensated barrels….my Bull Armory ported barrel has been flawless for the past 3000 rounds and still holds accuracy….my friends Compensated cut barrel Staccato had some crazy deviation after like 1200 rounds…maybes that’s because of how it’s cut idk but I’ll stick with ports for now on.
CCI lawman line of cartridges are total metal jacket. They come in 115 124 and 147. They are not hollow points. Not more expensive. Also you can use lead away cloth. Tedious to use in the port but it can be done. I’ve used it for forty some odd years to clean the face of my revolver cylinders
Isn’t it just carbon scoring? That’s pretty much like when you get carbon all over a tac light? I can see a ledge there do when the spent gasses hit , stands to reason that’s where it will accumulate? I tend go longer than I should between cleaning, I find M pro 7 or Hoppes 8 to soak for a couple hours take out most (if not all) carbon deposits.
Curious I wonder if it’s the lip on the comp cut end of the barrel, just had my competitor done by Floyd’s and the took all the rifling out from ports they cut in to the end of the barrel same diameter to the end and put a new crown on it also so no lip to catch anything on. Wonder is it needs the same thing might have to look into it for mine.
Welcome to the comp club Gene , carbon build up. I first discovered it on my Mr920p , and yes it was hell getting the barrel crown clean and carbon free , ended up replacing the comp which wasn’t bad $100 . Federal syntech is now what I shoot . All muzzle devices cause carbon build up even in Ar platform rifles . 0000 steel wool and hoppies elite or really good bore cleaner , letting it soak in of course. Another is good old mystery oil . Either way it takes time and effort. Experience is how we learned lol , some not so fun as you found out . Oh and don’t wait so long and let build up so much. K
Heck man I’m the most clinically OCD personal you likely have never met lol. I clean every gun the same day or next day after range visit. This was after about 350-400 rounds and cleaned 36 hrs after range trip
I’m not upset I appreciate your thoughts and covet your experience. I was just letting you know it was this bad even with few rounds and cleaning soon. Guess I’ll have to use different ammo
@@GSquaredTactical Yes it’s absolutely crazy stuff Gene ! Now you know why I was looking for a low cost alternative for my Glock 45 in JTT barrel I just stated due to clean up take down , I figured you knew ! Everything has a learning curve to it . Oem barrels are not cheap . Stay the course my friend K
Yeah, I have so many guns. It’s certainly not something I will be shooting often so it’s not a huge deal to me. It’s kind of funny that I’m subject to buying 30 new guns a year sometimes but I still carry the same ones I carried 10 years ago.
@chrisgilbert2152 I am wrong? Is there a rifling in the comp section of this gun? I looked at this same gun, and I know the answer. If the ported or comped section of a gun has no physical contact with the plated bullet, it will be just like a non ported or compensated gun. If the port or comp makes contact with the plated bullet it will fragment or lead the barrel and release potentially dangerous fragments from those ports and comps.
technically you should only shoot hollow points. the build up is lead, and carbon. I own 4 comped and 5 ported guns, i shoot a staccato XC approx 700-1100 rounds a month, and have no lead build up, shooting hollow points
Brother I wish I had the time. With running a hvac company, edited and filming videos and church I get at best 5 hrs of sleep at night. Thanks for watching
I'm glad you reviews firearms. I'm not buying nothing new that comes out to many issues with them. I seen 3 guys at the range with the TTI it was awful to watch ftf. She's I love caniks but I'm gonna pass on it then I seen your video about my Smith and Wesson
I have not had an issue with mine. 124 grain brazer with the low power spring. I believe guys are having issues with them from not cleaning and lubing them properly and the springs that come with them are way to heavy to be used on range ammo. I'm currently running a spring kit from sprinco... keeping the port on the barrel clean using a moly dry lube.

@@GSquaredTactical it’s definitely known to be problematic from what I’ve seen personally. And it’s very dirty ammo. Leaves all kinds of crud behind

the build up is lead, from exposed base bullets, aka FMJ bullets. nothing more than that.
Yeah I get that just wondering if there is ammo that I can use this won’t happen because people claim there is and not just JHP
what bullets would you suggest then?

If you can polish the inside of the comped portion the carbon will come off easier. All comped guns are a pain to clean, but worth it to me.
I did polish it so hopefully it won’t be as bad next time. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already

The was hard like soft solder or something

Well, there’s no rifling in this tip of the barrel however, there are two different lips front and back of the comp area. Thanks for watching.

You can use plated on this gun. The rifling has been removed from the ported comped area. No shearing should be possible
