Fishing with a friend is all ways a good time . You proved that there are nice Trout in this creek . A long with other species . Bloody-well going Leo , and yer friend 1 Rod too. Tom Daytona Beach, FL. 7, August 2021 .
I love your passion and your knowledge! I have learned so much from you and you have helped fuel a passion I've always had for micro fishing. If you ever come into western MD and eastern/ northern WV let me know I'd love to spend a time fishing and learning from you in person.
Just ordered some EPF Swims... only color available is purple though. Can't wait for the white and green pumpkin to be back in stock. Definitely getting those.
Looks like a great day of fishing, nice work ! Had a decent multi species session in the Musconetcong River today, 8 Largemouth bass, 1 yellow perch, 1 black crappie, 1white perch.
Congrats on the variety. Great brookie! But really like that cutlips. Haven't caught one yet. Seems more like a chance encounter if you are in a creek that has them versus a fish that you could selectively target.
have you tried fishing at: rolling hill park in lower merion if you park near the mill and go around the fence or park uphill and hike down, there are white sucker, rainbow, and brown trout and more. I recommend it, it is a small creek with some deep pools.
I've never seen a yellow perch outta my local patapsco river either, but sure enough I also hooked one just yesterday. Must be a reallllly good yellow perch year, idk
You guys are an excellent duo despite being very different fishermen. You should reinforce your chemistry and expand your fishing horizons by fishing other parts of the U.S or even international ventures.
@1Rod1ReelFishing and Leo, on the next collab you both should go out of your element and switch rods and tackle. Leo, target mondos and Mike can target micros. What do you say?!
I need some help understanding why I can't get any fish of any species of bite. I throw everything but the kitchen sink right in front of fish. But they all seem to have lock jaw. I even did some traveling to some new locations I've never been before to see if that helps. Nothing. I fish streams, creeks, rivers, locks and dam, ponds and lakes. What am I doing wrong. At this point I don't care what I catch as long as it's a fish. I need to find a way to draw the fish in from a distance. Since I'm stuck on the banks.
Holy crap, cutlips minnows get that big?? 😳 ive only seen small ones. Also Mike needs to calm down with his hook sets when creek fishing. Hes too used to setting the hook on a bass. Trout is more of a twitch than a yank of the pole. 😁
Man am going through some s:hit mom haves stage 3 cancer and dealing with eviction is on the way... it is snowing like crazy snow storm and people hate it but I'm thankful cuz due to it we can stay for a couple more days but the only thing that seems to Help are your videos leo
Leo, it is great that you promote safe fish handling, but putting a Brook Trout in the bucket or livewell before releasing isn't setting the best example, in my opinion. Those fish should be kept in the river water where there is more oxygen and released as soon as possible. I don't see the need to keep a fish for longer than unhooking and a quick photo if you are releasing it. Still a great video and a nice fish though!
_"I don't see the need to keep a fish for longer than unhooking and a quick photo if you are releasing it."_ Verstehen. I am both a TH-camr and a scientist -- therefore, I always have the need to keep fish outside of the water for prolonged periods of time -- for the job (footage & sketches), and for my logs. Hence the photo tanks and the foldable buckets. Plus, when it comes to stocked Trout, I always keep tabs on length and weight for nice samples that I catch out there. That's just for my personal log. That being said, your opinion has been read.
@@extremephillyfishing thanks for your reply. I understand that you keep more detailed data on fish than most and increased handling is required. When it comes to what's best for the fish, releasing it as fast as possible is the top priority, but I understand you are juggling other things as well. Tight lines!
Damn, I wish those lures and gear would be available here in europe. As Finnish I order from german Amazon since we don't have one but it's still free shipping if you go over a certain amount. That's cool but they rarely have US cottage industry stuff there. You would think Daiwa or Shimano but nah bro. No Sedona FI 500, only 1000 and above. No Spinmatic rods or the lines you use.
Dont take your time with trout like that! Its not enough to keep them healthy when youre putting them on a dry measuring board and taking pics. Fish could go belly up from stress and you wouldnt even know because you moved spots. You need to work on that dude! 14 seconds is all it takes to show signs of impairment from oxygen loss. Regardless if stockers, show others how to PROPERLY handle trout.
First and foremost, the measuring ruler wasn't dry. I actually wetted the ruler well before measuring the fish. I always wet my hands before handling them as well, as far as I CPR it. Second -- I am glad that you follow the 15 seconds rule that fly anglers do. Please do tell which part of the video has the fish outside of the water for a moment HIGHER than 15 seconds? The scene that I measure it, the fish was outside of the water for about 15 seconds tops. And I constantly splashed more water into the live well while handling the Trout to keep it cool and keep the oxygen there, in between the sketches. I understand your concern for the well-being of the fish. I truly do. And I commend you if you are a CPR angler who catches the fish and releases it immediately. After all, that's how it is supposed to be. Needless to say, my live well is there to give the fish the oxygen that it requires while I handle it -- be it a Trout, a Bass, a Sunfish, or whichever other species. Food for thought: If one is SO CONCERNED about the well-being of the stocked Trout to begin with, taking it to be a SUPER SENSITIVE species of fish, then here is my advice for such individual: leave it alone. Don't target it at all. Especially during the Summer, when water temperatures are higher. After all, from the moment that you hook the Trout and you play it, you are depleting its energy source and making it create lactic acid, which leads to blood acidification.
@@extremephillyfishing i dont mean to seem rude. Just little mistakes can kill fish. Just making sure youre doing everything right. Preserving the spots for others with 100 percent successful CnR rate.
No worries, FlyGuy. No meanness was taken whatsoever. Just replying with some science, as I always do. There is no such thing as a 100% successful C&R rate. One can only make certain decisions to minimize the harm that fishing gives to the fish. By doing this job itself -- the TH-cam gig, I am already putting extra stress on ALL FISHES portrayed on ALL MY TH-cam VIDEOS. This is a FACT. It is what it is. Whatever I do in my videos nowadays, though -- I try my best to not give any of those fishes any permanent damage in the long term. I would like to use this moment to also emphasize that 95% of my annual catches are released immediately after unhooking them. In other words, the following should know by HEART that the ones portrayed on the Channel are the ones that are paying the PRICE for people's entertainment out there. Does it sound bad? Absolutely. But it is the bare truth. Which is why I emphasized above that the best possible thing for all fishes out there, if one is concerned to SUCH EXTENT (i.e. 100% survival ratio), is to not target them at all.
@@extremephillyfishing i fish barbless, and dont even take them out the rubber net, while both gills are FULLY submerged. All my fish are extremely healthy lol. None die. You can tell if the fish is stressed from a long fight, if that happens, you can revive the fish in current. Im sure i'll kill ONE fish eventually, but im more than careful with them
