    As some of you may know, I've been seeking a fuzz that sounds as similar as possible to my old '66 for some time. What do you think of this one? Leave me a comment with your thoughts.

    Great playing. Beautiful fuzz! Is it possible the vintage one was a little darker because it wasn’t first in the chain?

    • @BrendanMowatSmith
      @BrendanMowatSmith  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for that, dude. The ‘66 is actually pretty dark. I think we had the fuzzes in an Analogman switcher so they wouldn’t interact, but you never know.

    Thank you & very nice playing, Sir. Supacool *sorry for my English. I think they both great but not quite identical, maybe. For me, I prefer a bit less gainny & "warmer vibe" from the old Arbiter

    Ever heard of german company BSM: They have the original arbiter fuzz circuit recreated with their BSM Fuzzbender model? By the way :) these two sound awesome!

    Very similiar, almost identical ! Do you reccomend the OX amp? Do you prefer the fuzz running thru the marshall or do you think a blackface amp can do the job with a fuzz?

      Dude, thanks! I had the old Super going though a Greenback 4X12 model on the OX, but it sounded great in the room through the cranked amp. I think the key is volume to push the speakers before the fuzz or another light gain stage afterwards if you’re running quietly. Just my .02c, though!

    Very close but the Haze67 has better clarity and string articulation while the Fuzz Face imo in compare a bit muddier is

    can you tell me are you going into amp then out of amp to OX then into interface then laptop ? if so how were you hearing the tones ? was the amps speakers coming through in the room ? and the guitar on video through OX to laptop ?

    • @BrendanMowatSmith
      @BrendanMowatSmith  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey RG. The internal Super Reverb speaker cable went into the OX then from there the speaker out went back into the Super. The Fender speakers were still on as we using the amp to monitor as one normally would, however, that's not how I typically use OX at home. I don't think we used any OX's attenuation functions on it as the amp was pretty loud in the room.

      @@BrendanMowatSmith killer so let me ask you this. What is your choice of cab in OX ? tones were killer and the guitar we hear on video is the OX speaker sim ? or whatever they call their speaker cabs

    • @BrendanMowatSmith
      @BrendanMowatSmith  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rgrg4577 I'm such a tweaker that I usually change it up every time I turn the thing on, but generally try to emulate the original recording speaker if it's a cover. If not, I guess I gravitate towards the GB punch for Marshall stuff or the Dumble cab and the JBL for cleans.

  • @deadpope1

    Both of those puppies have a lot of hair on them! My choice, though, would be the Haze as , to my old ass ear, it has clarity the FF doesn't. But I'm as old as carbon so what do I know?

    • @BrendanMowatSmith

    wow so close to me the original wins with its non perfect wiring to boot. But I would put the other on my board, and stash the oldie for recording. 99% won't hear the difference. Nice video and chops!

    Are you running a super into the OX? I'd love an explanation of how you're doing that. Did you end up damaging your equipment because of the mismatched ohms?

    • @BrendanMowatSmith
      @BrendanMowatSmith  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Brian. The modded Super was recorded via the OX which has a 4, 8, or 16 ohm input switchable on the back. Everything was fine and dandy.

      @@BrendanMowatSmith Hey thanks for the reply, just now seeing it. Hmm, sorry, what ohm setting did you have the OX at? I've got both pieces of gear myself.. I was under the impression that the super impedance would be 2 ohm or something. Is your super modded to be able to run at 4? These things confuse me. Thanks for your insight!

    • @BrendanMowatSmith
      @BrendanMowatSmith  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tried to get them to sound as close as possible, but they’re not identical. The bit of amp distortion on Kyle’s Super Reverb after the fuzz contributed. The old one is a little warmer and has significantly less gain.

      @@joshfowler8360 you don't know what you're talking about ,you need to set up correct resistor values to give proper voltage to both collectors ,0.6 volts on first and 4.5 to 5 to collector 2 ,with the increasing of temperature leakage increases that's why they put a bias control ,but you are going to control just the second transistor collector,
      it's much better to choose right transistors ,with a leakage less than 100 ma ,i use transistors with leakage of 50-60 ma maximum and i don't need to use any bias pot ,that is for noobs
      Same thing u do with tubes ,you bias them to have the right power dissipation ,you BIAS them ,do you understand?
