    Nice honest review. Testing handgun loads at 25 yards is over for me. 10 yards so I can see the damn target. That Arsenal mold is a great bullet. I use it powder coated on top of H110 out of a 6 inch Python and its really nice and accurate with no flat primers. 1335fps average.

    Thanks for what you are doing to help the shooting community in your videos. I haven't made it through your entire catalog of videos yet but I haven't yet seen one covering your firing line prep. Things that you do to build a stable position, what you use to shoot off of or on, bags no bags, rest no rest, elements of gripping the gun breaking the position to cock the hammer, six o'clock hold or center mass sight picture. Again many thanks for what you have done.

    Good info, I just bought a .357 and can't wait to start casting for it. The great thing about a wheel gun is not having to chase brass.

    Elvis Ammo! Back in the day use to kill bottles @ 125 feet in 8 out 10 shots. That was with the smallest 25 acp when I was 20 to 28 years old. Now 56, I need a shooting eye dog! Geez Elvis, all that paper was good and dead even from the back of the bus I could see that! Don't let the peanut gallery distract you! I've found great loads in unthinkable combinations! Thanks for sharing Elvis! Keep your revolver brass warm...

    I just started . reloading this last year. I have a GP-100 4.25 inch barrel. Ive been reloading.for economy . typically 3.3- to 4.6 gr Win 23l. Other . powders . I've bought and used are UNIQUE, Power Pistol, and Bullseye. I just got Brass and Primers . for 357 Magnum Loads. I Have a recent Hornady, and the Latest Sierra reloading manuals. What I have noticed about different powders . is that they "drop" differently from my Lyman Powder measure. Ball powder is consistent, whereas others need to be tricked to be consistent. With lower velocity loads . I have been able . to use lead SWC 140 and 158 gr bullets.I have bought Plated re-struck and FMJ bullets for higher +P velocities I am gonna have to look at your powder coated bullet casting videos

    My results with Longshot for the 357 Magnum for 6 shots from a 6 inch barrel Ruger GP-100 are as follow:
    Avg Velocity = 1,392 fps
    ES Velocity = 43 fps
    SD Velocity = 16 fps
    Group size on the target 60 foot away = 1.83 inches
    My load consists of 10.0 grains of Longshot, Remington 125 grain SJHP bullets, Starline Nickel-Plated brass, and CCI 500 small pistol primers. My load is slightly above max per Hodgdon's reloading manual but exhibited no sign of excess pressure.

      @@FranksAFreeman-pe6oq - The 125 gr SJHP are my personal stash that I acquired in the 1990s and 2000s. Although Remington still advertise them as reloading component, I have not seen any out in the market either.

    I'm proud of you Elvis. This is some great stuff buddy. I have shot my fair share of Hercules 2400. Many canisters of it, Back then I think it was going for $8 a pound. However, I was only making $9-10 dollars an hour. So it all is relative. Now you keep your eye on the front sight and squeeze the trigger keeping those sights aligned, Try making that one step done together and don't look at your target until the string of five shots is complete. If you notice, That is what I do in my Videos because the viewfinder on the camera is my spotting scope. Good Job dude. Good shooting. Dave.

    Looks like some nice testing. Keep it up. I know we use Titegroup or the expensive Vihtavouri 310 when we shoot Bulls eye at the club. For the 158 or 148 grainers (38spl) . 2.9 grains of VH 310 works great out to 50 yards. Hope to see your next testing. :)

    Hay my brother . Good test , good shooting .maybe the bullets need to be standing on its end , to properly coat the bullets . Ruger GP 100 match a great gun , built like a tank . Keep the videos coming. 2400 a great powder, I've been using it for years . Worth the money. Some times it's good to have a bulge. Keep it going my long lost jersey brother.

    big , big thanks. i have been all over inet and found very little info. i used the lee scoop that came with it and the bullet got stuck in barrel. I have 6" taurus "traveler". I have been playing with lee scoops and found the 7 to be most accurate on the scale. i was averaging 8.0 but i will try 8.4. I usually don't do max but worth a try. (usually too chicken).Love those powder coated bullets. I am using 158 gr sierra flat heads. I need rounds for hunting-we have coyotes and cougars where i am and they attack horses. i also have cfe pistol too. but seems wimpier. but only 6.2 grains. 1 other question what primers are you using- im using small pistol (cci). I made mistake and bought large magnum primers- nope not right. got stuck with 1000 of them. thats ok though getting taurus boss 45acp.

    I like longshot too. I've used it in 9mm, 45 acp, 38/357 mag, 223 bolt action, 300 blk bolt action, 7.62x39 bolt action and 308 bolt action. Accuracy seems okay, but unique actually seems to be more accurate and efficient especially in the bolt action calibers with lead bullets and velocities between 1500 and 2000 fps

    • @elvisammo
      @elvisammo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Prepare2Survive 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it gets some really good velocity in 9mm carbines too. I don't have a 45 acp carbine, but I imagine it would do the same.

    That Arsenal bullet looks like the Lyman 359429, which is my favorite 38/357 bullet. Drops at 167ish with my alloy. What weight does that Arsenal drop at? Getting tired of using a 2 cavity mold.

    hey elvis ,i dont see how a conclusion can be made measuring the bulge of the case(cases are work hardenend and by firing to),maybe if you compare them with factory ammo(they are tested),fire them and get a few new unfired cases from that batch and load them with your own load, and now look at differences ,rim ticknes ,head expansion the blackening case wall and so on i got a 2 cavity rcbs mould looks the same bullet.bythe way good shooting

    Hey Elvis, are you loading powder with the Lee Auto Drum ? I use that on my press and two grain differences are my plus or minus. How do you hold such tight tolerances on what your using ?

    • @elvisammo
      @elvisammo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hey Nick... you said 2 grain. I think you mean 2 tenths? some powders are gonna do better as you know.. Most of my ammo goes through the auto drum .. For instance I have one set with TiteGroup 3.9 grains and no matter how many times I confirm it, It's the same ... Once in a great while it will be off 1 tenth of a grain ... These were charges thrown by hand. The 2400 in the last video went through the auto drum!

    • @nickjm37fordel1
      @nickjm37fordel1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Elvis Yes, I did mean tenths :-) I love the auto drum, but it won't due the same tenths every throw. Maybe it's the powder I'm using now, IMR 700X ! The beam scale says one measurement and the digital says another ! It's enough to make a reloader nuts.
