With the andis guard system you don't have to use the 1/5 guard to get rid the line created with the 1 guard open... you can go straight to using that 0 guard and just play with the lever, and that should get rid of that line. Learned from 360 Jeezy whose in my opinion the best youtuber to learn how to fade with the andis guard system.
That was cool to see the comparison back to back. I felt like you spent more time detailing the fade with the Andis guard side, which is why it looked better. I do agree that the teeth on the Wahl guards should be closer together like the Andis, but they still get the job done!
I’m a rookie barber, just started in the shop two months ago and struggling with my skin fades. I just bought the oster fast feeds and ceramic cutting blade and all the andis guards. I’m hoping this set up will help. I ain’t gonna lie, I get discouraged and don’t want to come to work cause I know I’ll be jacking people up. Life long andis guy here. The 0.5 guard in both the single and double magnet is useless in my opinion. Recently started using wahl blades and must say that I enjoy their guard system. Used correctly both systems are great. But hey what do I know. I'm a shooter moonlighting as a barber lol. New to your channel and getting up to date on your content. Nice job.
Awesome video man! I'm a Wahl guy myself and I see what you're saying about the teeth. You can get clean fades out of the premium guards even with the wider teeth, but I can see how the Andis guards would be easier to work with. As always, I you're putting some good content out there! Keep it up.
Well, thank you greatly for the video performance for both clippers cuz I’m debating,- was debating, better say, - either to get wahl or andis master. Clearly andis provides cleaner job. Thanks again.
Hey MMA BARBER, dat .5 guard is best utilized when you are using the raking technique while the guard is attached to the clipper. The 1/16(0)guard (both single and double) now offer the blunted tips as well. The blunted tips prevent the blade from scratching and irritating the skin while raking the clipper back and forth. New length variations can now be utilized. If u use the .5 in between the 0(1/16) and the 1(1/8), then it is useless, but if u utilize the .5 while racking the clipper, then different lengths are achieved just with that one guard alone. I use it to fluff and smooth my tapers and thick haircuts down.😊.
@@Wowowo7591 Raking is a stylized choice, like many other techniques. If I don't get the smoothness that I want by holding the clipper flat, then I might attack the blend by using the rake technique while adjusting the blade length as I rake. Practice the rake technique then figure out how it can be of use to you as you develop your skills 😊.
I feel they both are the same what you think?? Well i notice wahl side has a darker shadow & the Andis fade was a lil better but that could be like you said the 2# attachment guard......i feel that the wahl 2# guard is made more for afro fade because the teeth are more separate vs the Andis guards teeth are more closer to each other & pls tell me if I'm wrong maybe im missing something here
I agree completely people trash the single magnetic guards but I feel that they give a smoother and better transitional blend. And I also added either the one or the zero of the single magnetic guards onto my Wahl system whenever the Wahl guards leave dark spots I use one of the single magnetic guards the zero or the one to take out the dark spots
Wahl Guards yes I agree. I detail with andis masters all day after the cut jus clean up. They open up and clean up the half guard so clearly. 👍🏻to wahl guards...
Why not both? In theory you could go: Shaver/Razor > Open Blade > Wahl 0.5 (1.5mm) > Andis 0.5 (2.25mm) > Wahl 1 / Andis 1 (3mm) > Andis 1.5 ( 4.5mm - It has more teeth which is better to pickup hair)
Great video and appreciate seeing the comparison between the different brands. Do you have a video or could you explain the rest of the haircut, meaning how do you blend the sides to the curve going to the top of the head and then the top and bangs area as well? That's what I'm struggling with the most right now. BTW, I'm doing a self cut, if that matters. Nice job on the sides and back of this haircut!
Hmm, I would say that the Wahl guards allowed you an easier fade, but you didn't put in the same level of detail. I fade in thirds with the Premium guards, but sometimes it I have to fade in quarters.
I read someone say the andis blades have wider teeth than wahls usually and are better for thicker hair. Is this true? Would wider teeth also make the hair texture look different? Needs more passes etc? I kinda wanted an angled taper blade with the magic crunch blade but I wonder if I could benefit from wider teeth Now I see this with the guards. So wahls have closer teeth in the blades but then have wider guards? And Andy’s have wider blades but then tighter guards? Kinda confusing how that stacks up . I personally don’t like showing scalp I want a setup for longer hair cuts and smoother tapers, thicker hair that doesn’t drop down easily
I've noticed that some barbers will start a bald fade from trimmer, just below the C-Curve and from that, a clipper with no guard from the base of the C-Curve, to the points - But they will do this regardless of the machine. I ask this because some machines open to a Half and others to a One. They never specify this to their viewers, in particular, the viewers that are learning. They should inform them because it's a small detail that will give more understanding to having spacial awareness as to exactly how much workspace you have in any given area of the cut.
In order for this to be a direct comparison wouldn't you need to use the same clippers on both sides just with different guards? I find it hard to come to a conclusion using two different clippers with different guards.
I use the double magnetic with the fade blade on the Andis Masters and it takes less time also I use the 1/2 guards too. Your thoughts on that against the wahl's?
We both agreed. After the video wrapped, i went back and blended those lines out. You can tell by the instagram pic. I'd still pick the wahl guard system over the single any day. I've mentioned that in my Top 3 Clipper Guard video.
Towards the end of the video you put on the screen “If you had to pick one guard system to fade with all day you would pick the Wahl guards”. That’s really confusing since you said in the video the Andis guards gave the better fade. What’s the reasoning behind that? Thanks.
Using the Wahl guard system was easier than the single magnetic guards. It would be a different story if we were talking about the double magnetic guards.
