So given that both he and Chizuru have their ending sequences in place, I take it SNK planned to make them playable in the MVS/AES versions like they did with the '95 bosses, but then cut them out at the last minute? I don't know if you can look into this but is there a dummied out cheat code or anything like that to make them playable? The delisted PS3 & PSP versions do have the bosses available from the start.
I am not 100% sure but to my knowledge, you cannot play as them in both the Neo-Geo MVS and AES versions of the game. The only way to do it on the hardware is via the installation of a Universe BIOS chip, where it allows you to enable/disable the Debug dipswitches (for Goenitz and Chizuru, it's dipswitches 1-3). I don't think there are any Action Replay/Game Shark devices for the system either. Regarding on them being planned playable, I am not sure... what I do know is that you can play as them both in the Neo-Geo CD version of the game via an input code on the character select screen (I can confirm this because I've done it before on that version), so maybe they gave them endings ready for the Neo-Geo CD version of the game perhaps.
@@Krizalid99v2 Also in the Saturn/PSX Version, they fixed a glitch in a final cutscene for Sacred Treasures Team. Iori using normal flames to dispose of Gendo Ikar--- I mean, Leopold Goenitz. With active sprites and all, but in KOF Orochi (also KOF: The Orochi Saga) the ending we get, is the glitched one.
Many, many years ago I bought a MVS cart labeled as "KoF '96: Rainbow Edition", a legit cart with one extra EEPOM chip that had these two bosses selectable (along with an instant filling super bar). Seems like up until a few years ago the debug bios trick to enable these is only available when the machine is set to AES mode. There wasn't any way to play them in MVS mode at the time without actually changing the game ROM itself, and there certainly wasn't back when the the game was current 25 years ago.
The Universal BIOS Rom or the MAME emulator are teh only and best ways to make both of them playable, it's ssimply easier to do just that. And, the KOF Orochi Collection on PS2 make them playable from the start!
95 gave you an edit team option, only 94 had a fixed team feature. Also, that assist move near the end, it looks like he just jumps in, says "now stop that noise" then jumps back into the background.
I have played with both Goenitz and Chizuru on the survivor MVS mode, and really, she's more reliable than him to win this mode with ease; I have trouble facing Chizuru as Goenitz...
Maybe this assist was dummied out since he hasn't any alignment with anybody of the cast. Probably in KOF 98: UM we should see him assisting Chris, Shermie, Yashiro, O.Iori, O.Leona, and Orochi...?
Goenitz vs Goenitz: *koko desu ka intensifies*
