For us southpaws, if you want a “true” left handed button lock, get the CJRB Pyrite daily driver, from the perfect Pyrite collection. Very nice, and not much more expensive than the regular Pyrite.

I know it's not highly regarded in the knife collecting world, but for pure button action, not taking anything else into account, I really like the Elementum button lock (the one that has the button as it's only means of open / close for the blade). Since it only has one action, that action is perfectly tuned in my opinion. And since it's a locking blade, it never swings back out if it swings closed too hard.

Agree the elementum button lock is under appreciated. Great lightweight work knife

Still my favorite button lock action. BL/axis locks are my favorite style, and even though the OG Elementum BL was my 1st BL, it's still my favorite. Cormorant would be next.

I was looking at that first sencut and the elementum. Went to see my friend's son that works at the local shop and he didn't discourage me from either, but talked up the pyrite and was pointing me in that direction. I did want to try a flipper, but am glad I took his advice

Trying to decide between the Sentinel Strike and Serene. Cogent is also in the mix. Trying to figure out which of these three has the best feeling action. Hearing conflicting things about which of them feels best. And if the Ziffius/Exiton are a step up in terms of action, how much of a step are we talking? In what way do they feel different?
In case it helps others, I have a G10 Cormorant and button lock Kitefin, and both have very different feels to the action. Cormorant feels more loose and springy because of the vibrations in the handle on closure (not talking blade play; there is none), and haptic feedback from the button which has zero stick. Action is always the same no matter how hard you deploy it. Kitefin is more rigid: blade slams into the lock on open, but the harder you flip it, the more button stick you get on close, which feels fantastic. Might disappear with use, but I've for sure flipped it a few thousand times at this point. There's no button stick on open if you choose not to use the flipper. Titanium handle has zero vibration. I'm not so impressed by the flipper tab though. Has to be lightswitched; pushing down frequently fails because the flipper's angle of action fails to correctly direct the energy when you break the detent in this way, even though the pivot and track are well lubricated and free of discernable friction. Both superb EDC knives obviously. Cormorant has best blade geometry - feels like I'm cutting thick cardboard with a laser beam - and equally fun fidget toys, just in very different ways.

For me the two button locks that just knock me out are the CJRB Pyrites and the Remette WD107s. I've purchased probably 10 or 12 of the Pyrites, Including all three sizes. I've been giving them away for birthday and Christmas presents to all my friends. Currently, the WD107s only come in three different versions and one is out of my price range. Personally, I'd rather purchase three knives under $100, than one knife in the $200 range. But on most days, you are likely to find one of my two WD107s in the horizontal sheath on my belt. My honorable mentions are any of the Civivi button locks, especially their beautiful Damascus steel versions, which can generally be purchased for right around $100.

I sent my grebe back. The action was good and it looks great, but it's really thick and unrefined. They really need to inset the liners and thin out the scales or maybe add some contouring. It's just to thick and awkward. Certainty didn't feel like a $160 knife.

I love the look of the Kizer Original but man the action sucked on mine. You have to push the button in way too far to get it to fall shut smoothly and that makes it very uncomfortable+inconsistent. I've also got the button lock sheepdog and its action is pretty meh as well; the button is natural but the action isn't very smooth and there is a weird bump near the end of the closing action. Vosteeds tend to fail the spine wack test so test that if you buy one. I got a Sencut today and the action is perfect. Looking forward to getting a cjrb soon to see how that one goes.

I just think the CJRB EKKO is really slept on... you can do as much with the EKKO if not more then... also has more deployment methods, they should do the Pyrite versions for the EKKO as well from budget to premium it's definitely good business to capitalize on pretty much the same as Pyrite just slightly different blade shape IMO I like the EKKo blade shape over Pyrite blade shape however I do like both. EKko IMO is more ergonomic than the Pyrite with the sheepsfoot style blade Civivi TI clips fit them as well. Kinda getting Pyrite fatigue along with button locks lol...

Haven’t watched it yet but from my experience protech malibu was the best button lock I’ve ever had. Atleast when it comes to Detent, action, fit & finish, and overall build quality. Also heard WE makes great more premium button locks and I believe that because of the Civivi button locks I’ve had. For budget range the CJRB Pyrite & Pyrite Alt are crazy good! Compared to my Civivi button locks they blow them out of the water when it comes to Detent, Action, and how smooth the button is. Had button stick issues with Civivi Qubit and Altus. Love the Qubit though! The Altus not so much. I will say the build quality and fit & finish was better on my Civivi Qubit compared to pyrite. But not by much and it’s also like $15-$20 more for qubit. Got sentinel strike on the way and from what I’ve heard it’s the best Civivi Button Lock yet so I’m excited to try it out! Still so far nothing in the budget range beats the action and detent on CJRB Pyrite and Pyrite Alt! Insanely snappy and smooth! But that doesn’t mean it’s a better overall knife. Keep that in mind! Depends on what you’re looking for in a knife. 🙏👍👊😎

I very much want to get the fat carbon hic-up. I found a copper scale hic-up on Amazon and had to get it. It is quite a bit heavier in the hand but IMO it's a good thing. It's basically a black out knife and I'm not big into black blades but I seem to reach for it over my other 2 hic-ups. I think it was around $100.
Usually I am in the $50-$100 price range but have been slowly creeping up. I would love to get my hands on the Ketuo, but then I would have to control myself and save up for a while. And I am a very impulsive person.😅
