Just to help paint a clearer picture, the Duggars (19 kids and counting) follow a form of extreme conservative Christianity, whereas Mormons have taken great lengths to separate themselves from Christianity over the years. But it’s not like they ever end up in the headlines for anything positive, for example most recently: Ruby Franke, Lori Daybell
@@arihopkins2756 quiverfull absolutely but they are in no way associated with Mormonism aka the Church of Latter Day Saints, they do not follow the teachings of the “prophet” Joseph Smith. I can see how the two get conflated.
Thank you so much for breaking this show down! I also recommend the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, there aren’t many mormons there, but there are ex mormons! And so much drama, too
@@laureldreams OMG, any drama is good, for example the recent Nikocado Avocado drama! Or any true crime if you are comfortable talking about it, would be super cool!! Thanks for asking! 😚🩷
Pleaseeeee do an up to date one of this! I don’t watch them but I found out from your video and since there’s so much drama I’d love if you could explain it in asmr
Is the 20 kids Mormon show you’re on about featuring the Duggars? As that’s a whole other true crime video idea as Josh Duggar was charged with a lot of stuff to do with child p, really interesting if you fancy ever doing a video xx
19 kids and counting I think is the show you're referencing right? Are they mormon or I thought they were like something like IBLP like Baptist christians?
No. The show is called Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. It came out this month. It's basically like real housewives-esq reality show following multiple womens lives. All of the women in it are tiktok influencers who are either currently mormon or have mormon roots/used to be mormon
As a Mormon, I will say that there are definitely different levels of how people follow the teachings, but for the most part (at least where I’m from and from my experience) people seem to be pretty normal. Fundamentalist Mormons are the crazy ones 😂 Also I do understand how men having priesthood authority does seem a little odd, but we do believe that women carry priesthood power, just in a different way and a mother and a father have an equal duty in a household. And I do want to say that 16 and 21 is NOT okay. I hope this helped and I love your videos so much you have such a relaxing whisper and have helped me fall asleep so easily 💖💖
Yeah fellow mormon here (non practiceing) I left the church due to some of the teachings but nothing crazy. My experience on these kids marrying so young is its simply because they teach most things happen after marrige which I guess the kids take this as well I want to do xyz so they get married Mormons today "later day saints" they are not all into polygamy. I can see why this religion seems so odd.. to put it simply a lot of what is in the media is only the odd stuff but it's no different then most other churches where odd things happen and if you didn't grow up in it I can see Why it looks extra interesting. But end of the day they are people raised in a belief system that they test and question with an era of social media. Why are there so many churches but they are also Christians? Somewhere someone didn't like soemthing they taught, or wanted to do something that was seen as not okay.. Tada new church but you can allntge same teachings but maybe they want drink coffee in this one for example lol (my opinion)
Having grown up Mormon and then leaving the church at 15 (and living 20+ years all over Utah) I personally don’t believe this show is super accurate (in some ways it really is, others not so much). Don’t get me wrong I personally don’t subscribe to the church, and I think some of their practices are kinda weird, but there’s a lot of generalization thrown around. I used to hate the church and understand if people do, but I feel like it (along with any sect of theism) gets shat on a lot. Overgeneralizing and assuming can lead to misinformation.
I will say as a former Mormon. A lot of weird things but sometimes some of things ex mo’s say is very perosnal experience for then. My father snd mother have a very equal relationship. She worked and be worked etc. it’s mostly the rich lds people that I’ve noticed that. Like I know this is the experience of many but not the case in my family. My dad is a lawyer and my mom a doctor. Gr Yeah there are different types of Mormons but the mainline Mormon are not the fundamentalists and the wives on that show drinking alcohol is the biggest no no. Coffee whatever. 21 and 16 is not encouraged. It’s not fine. I will say
Yeah i’ve met very few fundamental mormons. Lived in Utah my whole life. It seems like people think mormons are fake christians/ hypocrites or total religious extremists lol.
Just to add something, the fundamental Mormon doctrine is how Mormons started. This was the beginning of the cult. They removed the polyamory aspect to stop being persecuted but this is what Mormon « faith » originally is about. So definitely a cult still. So upsetting how many of them are getting more and more successful and famous
Agreed. I just learned that half of these women are ex mormons now, Jessi, Mikayla, Layla and Demi? i think identify as ex mormon 🤔 I think the way that the Mormon church is trying to use the words “Church of Jesus Christ” of LDS and to accept the use of the cross is to make it more palatable for some people now… It is still definitely a cult yes
So happy I came across this!!! I’ve been debating if I should watch this, but I’d much rather have it explained to me 🤣🤣
Watch it!!
@@allysagardia3095 thanks! I needed the push😭
if you like reality shows like bachelorette, or the kardashians you’ll def like it!
You should watch it, the drama and such is funny and it’s only 8 episodes

Ok but let's not forget that it is almost impossible to find amything positive in the news 😂
The duggars are more quiverfull type of Mormon for sure.

they follow the IBLP. institute of basic life principles very scary but different
Plenty of LDS channels debating stuff.
What’s extreme in this case btw?
The show should just be called “hypocrites” 😂😂

Yeah you're right they were IBLP which is a thankfully dying sect of Christianity.
