In most cases the pump is getting too hot as the motor is beginning to fail. Often the symptoms for this problem are first noticed when the electrical breaker trips out. While you will most likely be able to reset it once the pump cools down it is very likely the breaker will trip again once the pump heats up. This cycle will continue, and get worse, until such time that you can no longer reset the breaker at which point you will require a new electric motor (or often a new replacement pump).

    You should also consider upgrading to a variable speed pump as these are FAR more efficient than single speed pumps and will pay for themselves completely within a few years in electrical savings alone.
