We just ordered an X3 over the Q5. Then they would not let both my wife and I go on the test drive. I then contacted another dealer who could not get hold of a Q5 for a test drive. Appreciate you are asking Joe....but my wife & I recently debated X3/X1 v Q3/Q5...one thing I will say is that a new Audi interior makes a mockery of the BMW system, especially the virtual cockpit, BMW are a couple of years behind. However, I am a big fan of the Idrive System in BMW. But the Virtual cockpit really sets a difference. HK v BO sound system...margin differences. But Joe is the expert, but seeing as the car was going to me my wife's car, the interior / satnav was the big difference. X1 feels like an old 118d. X3 also a bit lacking.

Always thought the Q5's were a V6 engine being the top of the specification cars. a 4 cylinder sounds a backward step. I assume the gearbox changes "up" at the red line to protect the engine rather than use a "rev limiter"/fuel cut off.
The pre-facelift even came with a 150ps 4 cyclinder diesel. Basically the same engine that's in my wife's VW Touran, but in a heavier quattro car. The facelift base diesel is a 200ps 4 cylinder with more torque, so likely far better to drive.

The only word I can use to describe Audi interiors bar the A8 is plastic. BMW interiors are far superior in build. I love Mercedes but there are elements in their interior that give off the same vibe as Audi. The physical climate controls in this though are great, far better than the touch displays on the bigger q7 for example. Nice car overall, though an X4 will beat it for driving pleasure, and a GLC looks far more classy (though has the same issue as this in that the interior is previous gen with a makeover)
Mercedes is even worse on interior quality, but Mercedes with Renault engines are the most reliable.
@@dragospahontu lol yeah Renault engines. Some of the plastics in Mercedes are awful.
@@fahimhussain1105 the new Toyota Highlander is available in Europe for 50,000€, much better than this Audi
brilliant video as always 👌 best on youtube
£55k 2year old Macan GTS could be a good bet...How much is the SQ5 these days £70k?
Or a Land Cruiser
Bought New a Q5 40 TDI S last August - after BMW's. Merc's & 5 land Rovers very disappointed - Ride is awful - almost 'rocks' from side to side - storage inside is poor.
Not impressed with Dealers when I have had problems- dealer experience doesn't fit with a 50K car
loves the green !
Having not watched the video yet I can confidently say no, it's not worth £50k. Can you think of a more boring way to spend £50k ?
Update: I watched the video and it's still not worth £50k
