Yesssss !!!! This is exactly what I was looking at ... Prometheus federate is way to go for my stack Thanks a lot !!!this is something not exhaustively covers in general by many blogs and tutorial.
That was really good explanation. Thanks a lot Marcel .Can you also help in explaining scenarios like when one should influxdb over Prometheus or vice versa
Awesome explanation, thanks! I'm curious over one thing which is how do I customise the prometheus configuration to look for my application's metrics endpoints?
ty , your best ! very interesting, may question? Im usin kube PRometheuse stack , and Grafana show no data for POD metrics, (CPU, RAM, HDD) node metrics fine, but kubernetes/pod NO DATA, Im check metrics no dashboard which use grafana and cant find it on Prometheuse server , why it can be? if Im right understand Prometheuse take metrics from kube API, but in dashbord in grafana use metrics which I can t finde any wehere this situation happened after upgrade from 1.22 to 23 version k8s... If you can take some advice please help!
Awesome video again. I was just looking for Prometheus to hook up to airflow scheduler application , have a quick question, if airflow( or any application ) is running in docker containers , how and where can i put the Prometheus node to monitor that application , do i have to add that in the docker compose files , Please let me know, Thank you in advance
As long as prometheus can access the application's metrics endpoint (url + port) it can run anywhere, on the same machine, on docker, on the host, or external
You require service monitors yes. Service monitors connect things like metric server, kubelets, API server and node-exporter to the Prometheus instance. The metric server discovers only the telemetry it knows about but the broader discovery and connecting of various components are done via service monitors
Ah right, if you hover over the video, you should see next to the settings on the bottom right is a subtitle card you can enable, and it defaults to english when I select it. So it appears like English subtitles are added on my videos by default. Does this work for you ?
That DevOps Guy 😱😱I was watching ur vids on my iPad, and there was no subtitle option, then I switched to my pc after ur comment, and I saw the option. Awww sorry! Anyway, as a junior devops, ur vids are really helpful! Plz make more vids about different devops stacks and languages, love golang and python! Could you share some advice about how to become a SA! That is my dream job!
"Prometheus will find you "
Thanks for all the videos. I really love the technical depth and breadth of them all. Take care. 🙏🏽
Thanks you sir for your useful class on Kubernetes monitoring
Thanks Marcel for the concise summary.

I’ve said that on other of your videos but it’s worth saying on every one of them, your content is the best I’ve seen, you are awesome
Thank you for this video (and your other videos on Prometheus and Grafana)!
These videos have been really helpful in trying to grok Prometheus as I roll it out at work. Thanks!
Eagerly waiting for other videos !!!!
I really enjoyed the music as well!
Awesome explanation!!
Thank you for the video!
Muchas gracias, excelente video e ilustraciones, saludos desde Costa Rica.
That was really good explanation. Thanks a lot Marcel .Can you also help in explaining scenarios like when one should influxdb over Prometheus or vice versa
This is cool. Prometheus is capable of doing "federate". Nice. Thanks for the intro. Subscribed.
Awesome intro, that helped me a lot 😄
Thank you!
yes, thank you very much, your videos make big information on monitor by prometheus
excellent explanation! thank you very much.
Thanks a lot , this helped me writing my thesis ❤️❤️
Great explanation!! Thank you!
Thanks!
great

can we monitor a deployment e.g. nginx without using exporter to check if it is up using prometheus. ?
Can you share video on Thanos and cortex?
Hey friend! Absolutely, This is on the radar for a future episode, just cannot commit to a release date since there is a lot in the backlog :)
Great video. Quick question on monitoring. If I use linkerd, we still have to install Prometheus separately?

how to create custom node exporter endpoints with https server
very helpful thanks
Stupendous!
is this better than zabbix ?

Do we require Service Monitors in k8s cluster? As the discovery mechanism is done by metrics server. Thanks

@@MarcelDempers thanks! ok. So Prometheus scrapes metrics server as well as connect to Service Monitor instance.
Esketit!
Awesome 👏
Amazing !!!!!😊👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
first time hearing lil pump in a programming tutorial :D
Could you add some subtitle plz? really enjoy ur vids !
Hey there what Language you looking for ? I will see what I can do 🤓💪🏽Glad you're enjoying them
That DevOps Guy sorry for misunderstanding, I mean add the English subtitle lol thanks

I'm afraid what you call "legacy servers" is what 80% of people run these days :)
