- Hanging out with the group "112" after their show here in Detroit 1-18-14 @ the Music Hall. These guys are the real deal when it comes to anybody else sounding like "Commissioned." Parkes Steward the writer of many of their hits is singing with them while I record.

May God repair their relationship as Brothers. It is so much more than singing. May God bless each one of them and as a unit God gifted with the ability to inspire others through their singing.

Mike has an AMAZING ear to remember all those correct pitches. These fellas harmonize SO well with one another. This was a joy to watch. Daron with the bass! lol.

Agreed my dude. I used to think Daron had the best voice but though Daron has a fantastic voice, he only has the most versatile voice. He has a great tone and can sing the most octaves or at least has shown a clear skill to do that. Mike, even though he hasn't shown the level of versatility as Daron (To me) has the best natural singing tone. A nice solid deep baritone to really do great leads and solidify the harmonies from the bottom end of the sound. They clearly never used him enough until at least the Part III album when he sang "Missing You" which i think is his signature song.
All the great groups pay HOMAGE to COMMISSIONED. 112, Boys 2 Men...I can go on and on. Thanks 112 for all the love.
Mike is a beast with an incredible ear and voice.

I love that I accidentally found this video and I love that they gave a small tribute-like to the best group that ever harmonized (commissioned) I remember and still sing all those songs from yrs ago. I hope all of commissioned (old and new) saw this somehow.

112 is one of the best and most underrated groups that the industry has seen... They patterned their vocal styles after the smoothness/harmonies/melodies of Commissioned, Take 6 and Boyz To Men coupled with the soulfulness of Jodeci, Slim = Babyface/El Debarge/Raphael Sadiq Q = Freddie Jackson Mike = Michael McDonald Daron = Stevie Wonder... They're so versatile/dynamic and can go across the board with the different genres of music (as you can see), Their first album is and always will be a gem, they have the tightest harmony around (Outside of Boyz To Men and Take 6)!!!

Cute Life on a Budget Slim is a beast (especially live).
The thing he don't understand is that Slim can very well sing, but he may not like his tone of voice, but just because you don't like his tone doesn't mean he can't sing. A lot of people said the same thing about JT's tone, but we all know he can sing as well.

I didn't care too much for 112 until their bought their 1st album and they are legit one the top 3-5 RnB groups of the 90's because all 4 members can not only sang But they all have the best chemistry I've heard in a long while, Dru Hill is right there along with Boys 2 men

Damn I love 112. And they did "Cry On" the best. Way better than Silk. Commissioned is great though. Ya know how they say "Without Jodeci there'd be no Dru Hill"? Well, maybe without Commissioned there'd be no 112. These southern kats take it to church unlike many these days. Wish they'd come out with another album it's been 11 years, man!

Lon Tanner 112 is a megatalented group that should've gotten more props than they did... They'll shut down a lot of groups with their vocal talent and perfect harmony... I'm waiting on a new album also!!!

This is pure 🔥 The way they remembered and reminded each other of the harmony from when they were teens, the syncronization and joy!! Reminds me of when me and my friends used to sing in the halls of our school and after school on the train!! 🔥 So sad they had that major fallout, hope God repairs it somehow

Basically they made their careers off of sounding like Gospel singers but these new people don't wanna recognize that if you want REAL soul and sanging you gotta listen to gospel. Most gospel singers will run rings around any secular one. But we so confused we trying to mimic them all the while they mimicking us.
112 is equally rooted in gospel as well as R&B, they've never disrespected the art of gospel music... If anything, they've always paid homage to it!!!

Don’t get me wrong I am a number one boys to men fan but do not sleep on 112 I think they could give them a run for their money real talk
I think what sets Boyz II Men apart is they each have very distinct voices and tones. So it adds a lot more dynamics to their songs. Aside from Slim, only hardcore 112 fans can tell the difference between when Q, Daron, or Mike is singing since they sound generally similar. And that's before the whole issue of how having a legit bass puts the harmonies on another level. But it would be amazing to ever see a battle like that happen. But unfortunately, both groups are on bad terms with certain members.

I love 112 but I really didn't kno the could put it down like that. Just ad lib seems like no practice on this song just put it together on the spot. Now I really kno 112. They sound better accapella than that do with beats. I watched the concert where they sang boyz 2 men and new edition all I can say is wow. Is there anything they can't sing. 112 was big but I don't understand why they weren't on the same level as boys 2 men.
112 has always been my favorite singing group of all time. I think that boyz 2 men were probably more thought to be a better group because they're singles were love ballads that showcased their vocals. Whereas with 112, a good portion of their singles were upbeat with simplified vocals. So someone would have to actually buy, and listen to their albums to know just how great they are vocally (both individually, and as a group). Don't get me wrong, I love songs like Anywhere, Peaches and Cream, and the Only You remix. However, if more people would have heard Now That We're Done, Crazy Over You, or Cry On, people would know why they're my favorite group.
They reminded me of Take 6 with the harmony parts as well as Commissioned (and to give props to any group alongside Take Six for harmony is on another level). They nailed Commissioned's "Cry On". For that, I've gotta give it to them. Much respect.
