For the Thunderbird I find that the tether ultimate overclock is the best as it can clean the swarms. Also I got lucky and received +4 total extra drones from level-up. Raising your luck and getting extra drones can dramatically increase the effectiveness of the Thunderbird. I finished my run with a total of 7 drones and the other overclock that allows you to shot electrical currents between friendly constructs. It was a breeze but I admit I would have struggled if not for the extra drones.
I think the reason your thunderbird felt weaker is that you were much less lucky. You were rolling in gray and green upgrades on the thunderbird but loads of purples on the swarm grenade. I’d guess your damage boost % was probably 2-3x the thunderbird.
Not to mention that reload speed doesn't increase the amount of thunderbirds you can have active at the same time, but it DID let him stack swarm grenades
Also as you can see in the end damage over time was more than direct dmg but kept stacking dmg and not potency upgrades ... I believe dot build should be better overall
The swarm grenade does do some damage and knock-back when it opens. If you get crazy reload, you can mine a channel and the greandes popping open at the entrance will knock them away so they can't get in, as long as you also have good damage.
Potentially, potency might be better as a support stat for electric drones. Focusing crit and direct damage might be the way to go with this as the primary/sole weapon.
Potency quickly stops scaling on electric weapons since the crit bonus is hard capped at 100% or 200stacks. So it is better to stop getting potency upgrades once you hit ~30-40 potency on slower/weaker weapons and start building for damage while also always choosing crit%/crit damage upgrades.
I came down here to say similar. Cub kept comparing the damage output of the drones to the shredders but think if half of the potency upgrades were damage upgrades instead! Would have been a much different story.
i think the construct final overclock would have been better then crisis protocol as then at least the drones are tethered together? or is it specifically other types of constructs only? I think the idea of crisis protocol is it drags the drones back to you through enemies, but it didnt seem to occur nearly as often as you were taking damage.
I think electrical damage needs a passive burn effect to it as well. It feels so underwhelming as compared to the other options. I’d also like to see some radiation, gravity, and traps added.
Tried shredder mastery haz 5 for like 100 times, finally got lucky with mohawk and pickled nitrite, shredding final boss until he decided to jump on my face. after update did it in 1 run. did thunderbird with weapon box XD.
Status Effect Damage and Potency with Electric is a trap. The crit bonus only applies to enemies directly hit by your weapon, which means the Shock AOE doesn't transfer Electric stacks to other enemies. Also the Shock AOE doesn't appear to scale at all, I don't see it being affected by Status Effect Damage or # of stacks and obviously doesn't crit. Add in the fact that potency falls off hard, depending on the weapon, after ~30 potency... it all adds up to building for damage, crit, and crit damage. I also wonder if the Shock AOE is somehow affecting the decay rate of the Electric stacks and the primary DoT. I say this because other weapons, you see DoT numbers pop multiple times on the same enemy as the stacks decay. While you will sometimes see more than one DoT number pop on the same enemy, it doesn't appear as often, and usually only when you are building stacks.
the problem is that reload doesn't scale or do anything for drones. you might as well just only run potency and damage stat on drones. i actively avoid and skip any reload upgrades unless they are at least epic or legendary. reload is dead stat for drones, so is life time. Thunder bird sucks because it doesn't have +3 drone overclock but it also has worst base damage of all drones. Thunder bird is a lot better when you get +2 drones. it starts to be usable weapon. their buffs completely miss why the weapons sucks. Just add +2 drones to base-kit for thunder bird. it would literally double its scaling
@@dodang_9147 While reload is definitely weighted near the bottom for drones it isn't worthless. Lifetime is actually the highest weighted (especially for the good drones). More lifetime means more DPS, and with Fire/Acid means more status stacks along with increased DoTs.
@@lordec911 i havent look at the math for drones but they have like 70% up-time. there is like 0 reason to EVER run life time upgrades on them. you can argue that you can put like 100% reload on them. that is 3 epic upgrades or 2 legendary reloads which isn't too uncommon considering how useless reload is but drones definitely just go for potency and damage. even as far as skipping reload entirely. Thunder bird just kinda sucks due to only have 3 drones where as other 2 drones got +6 scaling. Firefly also has good overclock with gas leak. that overclock is about as good as +3 drones but most people don't select it. Acid drone is obviously amazing because... it scales so well with every stat. status effect, critical rate, crit damage are all good.
Is it just me. Or does the shredder swarm grenade exploding sound like if you have a spoon of cinnamon in your mouth, and then blow it out in an exhale of air?
Seems like for the electric drone players are going to have to pray they get a weapons box on their first drop to be able to complete the challenge in most cases.
My personal advise: if if a reroll at the end is worth 15 or less gold, do it, even if you could not buy stuff after the reroll. you never know what Legendary you would miss otherwise to lock in for the next shop. i think they will patch that one out really fast. makes it too easy to get the juicy legendaries i think.
I hate how it always seems to bounce away from the thing I need it to kill... And if it's by the edge of the map, forget it, it's gonna bounce off the map and be useless for whatever reason...
There actually was, at the very bottom of the patch notes and I missed it at first because it was not grouped with the other weapon buffs. "High Explosive Grenade: Reload Time reduced from 6 to 5 seconds. Explosion radius increased from 3 to 3.5. Mastery Bonus changed from only damage to damage and explosion radius"
@@idlecub HE was definately worst weapon mastery for me. thunder bird is bad mastery but with good rng on +1 drone, it is not that bad. Shredder. i don't know why it got buffed. it wasn't bad but you had to stack reload to make it any good.
The final run you did is basically how every Hazard 5 run ends for me. More bugs with more HP than I have damage. Which is why I've stopped playing the game until they do something more with Hazard 5 cause on every mode it just doesn't feel fun and a game without fun is just not worth playing to me.

Now a 10 lvl dive with the thunder drone and the shock fence both hitting other constructs :)

Last night I went crazy with reload speed/drones on the grenade and killed final boss the moment it spawned.
The swarm grenade does do some damage and knock-back when it opens.

the Shredder grenade DPS stat was almost twice as high as the Hi-Volt
you really need the tether OC to make the thunderbird shine.

The only episode I’ve heard Cub virtually cried due to being able to pinning cards, I feel the pain 😂

LOL Shredder Swarm Grenades were also the first i tested and yes they are more viable now.

Or extra drones with one of the electrical beam overclocks.
Lock function, now do banish?

you lose 1 roll for entering shop. it is not that great but you can fish for legendary by spamming reroll. until you get one in early in 1-5 dives.
Interesting. For me HE grenades were/are by far the most difficult in H5.
I hate how it always seems to bounce away from the thing I need it to kill... And if it's by the edge of the map, forget it, it's gonna bounce off the map and be useless for whatever reason...
Day13 of asking cub to do a dwarf upgrade only challenge
And they didn't buff the HE Grenade? That one is now the worst weapon solo.

Ist
Will you try swarm grenade with shock fence one more time?
