Thank you for posting this
I watched all of this guys ASVAB videos and just took the AFCT (ASVAB retest for prior service) and scored an 84 with a 121 GT. This is definitely the best ASVAB prep channel on TH-cam!
Kind words, thank you
Im definitely prepping to the AFCT and been watching alot of the AR and MK videos. GT score is 103 and need a 110 or higher. Dantes.Peterson moduled is a good source to use to use also.
got a 98 for on GT. need a 105+ for recon. leaving for bootcamp in two days. 03xx contract for the marine corps. since i can’t volunteer for recon at soi with my current score ill have to take the afct after i hit the fleet and get more proficient in the pool. then ill hit up the screener. thank you for your service man 🇺🇸
@@kakashikey thank you for your service
Question Pls, do you get to use calculators?
I've been out of high school for 3 years and have not touched half this math in years, having this resource is amazing and thank you for putting it out
Thank you, good luck
ive been out for 13 years. wish me luck xD

Im applying for WOFT. Haven’t done this type of math in 16 years 🤣. Im 32. Thanks to these videos for helping me refresh my memory.

Wish I had a math teacher as good as this teacher. I'm able to completely understand what he's saying with no kind of struggling at all which is a talent.
Great to hear, thank you
Colfax Math, I’d like to thank you so much for your videos. I passed with GT 111 today and is on the way to commission as a 2LT in the army. It was all because I watched your videos. You made complicated concepts so easy. THANK YOU SMM!!!!
I hope you know that your videos are appreciated :))) I hope your pillow is cold at night

@@micmurp Thanks
Ive been practicing for my test and these have been pretty intuitive. Sadly I’ve forgotten more than I’ve remembered so I just need to keep watching
Yes keep studying and doing problems on paper, it will start to come back to you
Just wanted to say thank you very much for helping me get a good score on my ASVAB! I watched all your prep videos and they helped me get nearly 20 points above my projected score! I highly recommend this channel for anyone studying for the ASVAB! 👍👍
Great to hear
Was some of these on the test cause some MK was on there
@@hollywoodclipp Yes! The problems he’s doing in the videos are very similar to the questions you’ll find on the test. I noticed MK had a lot of algebra questions.
@@johnnygage yeah cause I took the picat and I notice some same math problems so I wanted to know if the same AR WAS ON THERE AS well do you remember some of the questions you got any extra tips for me I take it on Thursday
@@hollywoodclipp Ah I see. I can’t remember any at the top of my head, tbh. It was a lot of stats questions involving fractions, traveling mph, square footage/finding area for AR and a lot of algebra equations, multiplying square roots/exponents, PEMDAS, etc for MK. Science is a lot of biology, physics, and chem. WK just study a lot of prefixes/suffixes and PC is pretty easy just a lot of reading. There’s lots of practice tests/study guides you can find online and ASVAB for Dummies is probably the best book that covers all the material. Get a good night’s sleep, stay focused, and you’ll do great! Best of luck to you! You got this! 👍
I like how smooth and simple you make a complicated problem look easy In Seconds
Thank you, it's just practice
i love how he shows his work & explains how he got his answer.
very easy to interpret & understand why he got that answer, and what he had did to come up with that answer.

Very good to hear, thank you
For the question 9, there is another way of solving it. The 7% converts to 0.7 and the wage went up, so then 8.15 + 0.7 = 8.85
From the options the wage received per hour after the profit made nearest is 8.72 . Your video is very helpful. Always keep it up.
Very good, thank you
Some of these were hard to grasp at first but eventually I got it. Your videos did help me! I got a 72 overall and a 69 on my afqt. Was able to swear into the dep 2 days ago. Now I’m just waiting for a MOS to open up. Thank you!
Congratulations, good score
Any tips for the afqt

it really brings me back to my high school math class from 10 years ago. i love it!

For question 4 I think there’s an easier way to do it where you set the equation up like, (93+89+96+98+X)/5 = 95,
Then multiply 95 by 5 which equals 475 then subtract by 376 which equals 99. Great videos keep up the good work helping me study for the ASVAB.

for number 5 you can just do 375/100 = 3.75 x 12 = 45. you can do this for alot of questions that ask for the percentage of a number.
That works
Retaken my asvab for the 4th time tomorrow really hope for the best
Good luck
haven’t been in school since i graduated in 2021. This makes way more sense than being at school😭
Didnt touch math for long time back to it made my head blow up

The problem I struggle with these word problems is determining what operation of math I need to use. It makes me waste so much time trying to figure it out and then I eventually have to guess to move on
I know it's hard, practice helps
Did way better in the English comprehension portion. But golly do I have some type of a mental blocker once I start hearing numbers.

Great stuff, question:
Question#8 is asking for a profit point, not the amount to cover the overhead. The answer 50,000 would only be the breakeven point. Please advise.
Thank you, very helpful.
I think I can be deciphered either way
Thanks brother this help I am studying for the savab for the military. I have the book

hi there sir - just for clarification, problem number 8 - would the answer be D ? since they are wanting to make a profit not break even ? awesome video btw!
I think that would be correct
Are you able to write down number or you have to do it in your head while in the test?
If you are taking the test online, you are allowed scratch paper
Does he help break down for the practice test as well?
Yes, I think he does
Asvab prep is no joke especially being out of school for 8years now😭I feel so slow
It will come back to you just keep at it
so for the first question my steps would be to multiply 3.50 x 12 and i got the answer of $42, (im just studying and doing the work posting my answer to see if the way i did my steps are correct and proficient
Good way to go
I took my test two weeks ago got 6 and fail need atleast 4 weeks to study 😢I left school 20yrs ago really need to pass for the navy but the maths &the arithmetic reasoning is so complicated and confusing I dnt knw if I will ever pass😢

Going AF Special Forces PJ, in the military in Sept, and going to MEPS on Sunday, I studied your videos for a while and now I passed the long practice test ( 4 HRS ) the other day with a 66, thanks for everything, I can't even believe am here, it's fucking crazy. Never give up and fuck the haters.
Btw how did you do question 4?
Good luck
@@ColfaxMath Q4?
How is the answer C for #7? One square yard is 9 feet. I’m so confused. I understand the whole 3 ft in a yard thing but I thought you’d need to divide by 9, not 3.
I converted the yards to feet first then found the area, you could do the problem either way
In number 8 9:18, The correct answer is D. 60,000 cards. correct me if im wrong
At 50,000 cards (letter C), the plant breaks even because the profit from the cards equals the fixed overhead of $6,000. However, to make a profit, the plant needs to sell more than 50,000 cards. The next closest option is 60,000 cards (letter D), where the plant makes a profit of $1,200.
Ok
Great video !! Thank you!
Thank you
How did you get 22.5 for question 10? I know it has to do with the 30 more minutes, but I don’t get the 22.5.
45 miles per hour, 30 minutes would be 22.5 miles since it’s half of 45
sir where did you get the 22.5 in the last problem ? did you just put it because you know the situation?
Travels 45 miles per hour so on half an hour it has to be half the distance. I took the 44 and cut it in half to get the 22.5
Best ever
Thank you
Very helpful, Thank man. Jesus loves you. Know that 😊❤️
Thank you
Your answer to question 8...50,000 will not make a profit. It will break even. The question was "make a profit" so answer D 60,000 should be correct...no?
Anywhere above 50k will be a profit, so the break even point is at 50k
@@ColfaxMath that's right...50k is break even, not a profit. The question is worded poorly and is what confuses many so that it would be missed. The question asked for "profit" and not "break even."
i have a question about question number 10, how you get the 22.5
So it's 3 hours and 30 minutes so you'd take (45x3=135) + (45/2 = 22.5)
Half an hour is half the 44 miles, half of 45 gives you the 22.5
Colfax math what would you recommend for someone like my self who doesn't have any math foundation to stand on im currently working to pass the asvab to be an Infantry man but im struggling
I have a playlist called foundations of math, work your way through that, maybe a video a day. Take notes, do problems as you work your way through. You can do it
On question 8, it’s asking us how many cards we have to print to make a PROFIT if we go with C wouldn’t we breaking even? Am I missing something?
Yes that's correct
In real life though, Dave will have to travel the speed limit, lol
Yes he will
Is calculator or cellphone allowed during taking asvab?
Check with your recruiter
You make math easy
thank you
Excuse me sir how did you get 22.5 for the last problem. Just for those of us who may not know how many miles get’s you thirty minutes

How is 30 minutes equal to 22.5 ?
That's exactly what I'm trying to figure out.
Alice is traveling 45 miles per hour, 30 minutes is half of one hour, so if she is going 45mph that means in 30 min she travels 22.5 miles or half of 45
ahh that makes sense to round the answer and eliminate

Half of 45
6:16 Wait how does the .12 turn into 14? I’m trying to follow and write an example and that part confuses me?

In qestion 8 doesn’t it ask to make profit ? Not break even ?
At what point would you start making a profit which is at the break even point
@@ColfaxMath but 50,000 cards wouldnt make profit so it would be 60,000. Anything over 50,000 would be considered profit

Why did you underline gross? At 3:06 minutes?
Because it is a key term, a gross is a dozen dozen or 144
@ColfaxMath Okay, do you explain this more on you're channel
For #10 how did you get 22.5 ?
By the time her husband has caught up to her, she had traveled 157.5 mi. (45 mi x 3.5 hrs) The husband must travel that same distance in 3 hours. 157.5 mi/3 = 52.5 mph
For question 7 I’m only getting answers for B and D
The units given are feet and you are asked for square yards. Three feet equal one yard. After you divide the lengths by three and multiply them you get approximately 30 yards times the amount
For the last problem 12:40. He said and then 30 minutes more and got 22.5. Can someone explain that part to me please?
Ohhhh he divided 45 by 2. I totally understand now thanks brain 😂😅
Correct, half an hour, half of the 45

How did you get the 4 on the 1st problem?
It was just an approximation. I rounded the 3.5 up to 4 so I could multiply it in my head, then looked at the possible choices and saw that there was only one answer that was close.
@@ColfaxMath Thank your for your help. The answer his 54 mph
If Alice drove R=45 mph , T=3 hours, D=R.T, D=135,
Dave have to drive at the same distance to catch Alice . So D=135 , his time : T=3h- 0.5 h(30min)=2.5 h .To found his speed, R=D/T, R=135/2.5, R=54mph
You may see me a lot sir. Hoping to join the us navy. I’m wondering How & why does 30 become 22.5 automatically ? What did u do or know to get 22.5
