Cuban Arara 2013

The Akoma Drummers of St. Michael's College play Cuban Arara music with Stuart Paton (lead drum) and Johnny Scovel (dance). The ensemble had the pleasure of learning the piece through Johnny Scovel's visit to the College for the annual Ghana*Haiti Festival, featuring music of the Ewe of Ghana as well as Dahomean rhythms from both Cuba and Haiti. Dancers include guests from Massachusetts and Vermont, and we loved having them!
