Growing Mustard Time Lapse - Seed To Flower in 37 Days

  • This one didn't turn out that good. I messed up the lighting a bit so it got a bit leggy. And then it grew tall so fast i didn't have anywhere to put it with enough space (the studio is quite occupied at the moment). The lack of space and the plants crazy wiggling made the closeups a bit tricky.
    I give it a 3,6 not great not terrible :)
    Back again next week!

      I feel like genes have a lot to do with how well a plant grows, as well as environment and soil. Yaknow?
      I tried growing some squash and not all of them sprouted ://. But the ones that did sprout are growing beautifully rn. then my jalapeños as well. Òut of all the jalapeño seeds i planted only one grew. Maybe i had to give them more sunlight, less water? But it's always a trial and error type of thing. And after a while you know what plants want and need as well as the things you should avoid. Maybe you could try planting a few seeds at the same time to see if some do better than others? Anyways, gud luck :D.

    Seeds such as this are always so fascinating to me. You take an exact copy of this exact seed and place it in a large area of fertile ground and it becomes a whole different beast. Just so cool how they adapt to their environment and can thrive in so many different settings. Two videos into this channel and you definitely earned a subscriber. Will continue to enjoy the content.

    • @karenhaydock5848
      @karenhaydock5848 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your use of the word "adapt" is questionable. A single plant is not "adapting" - it is just growing interdependently with its environment. The genetics of an individual plant do not change as it grows. An individual pant does not evolve. A population of plants evolve - due to natural (or artificial) selection. There are no two single seeds that are exactly alike. Without the inherent variation between individual seeds (and plants) in a population, there could be no evolution - and no life.

    • @anthonyfaiell3263
      @anthonyfaiell3263 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@karenhaydock5848 I mean if you wanna be super picky about word choice... They do actually adapt to their environment. For instance, you can look up certain succulent plants that will switch to CAM photosynthesis when treated with less than optimal amounts of light. But if given optimum amounts of light the plant will develop with c3 photosynthesis. This is just a simple example of a plant adapting to it's environment. This is not a genetic evolution by any means, I obviously realize this. But it is still a distinct reaction to the environment that changes the way the plant functions. And based on the dictionary definition of adaption according to oxford...
      .
      Adaptation- a change or the process of change by which an organism or species becomes better suited to it's environment.
      .
      I would say that fits pretty well..

      I suggest getting an Aerogarden style hydroponic garden and try romaine or buttercrunch lettuce and basil. Mustard grows well in them too. Just keep an eye on the water level when the mustard plant gets large or keep the leaves harvested for cooking and salads. Raw mustard leaves are great medicinally and add some spice to salads. Also see the Krakty method. MaxiGro nutrient is the best. I use about 1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons per gallon of water. The kilo bag it`s sold in has the measuring scoop.

      Basically organic black soils then add just phosphorus and potassium salts...incase of infertile soil red soils consider using alot of urine to soil because it's so reach in nitrogen in form of urea adequate for the formation plant protein...then look into using magnesium/potassium salts very good in formation plant chlorophyll, then lastly is light supply day and night...this produces phototaxis plant growth vertically...when applying the light care should be put into the direction of which you apply it in and at to produce desired growth

    Mark 4:30-32
    “(30) To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we picture it?
    (31)It is like a mustard seed which when it is down on the ground is smaller than all seeds on the earth; (32) but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs and shoots out large branches so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade.”

      Each plant is different. There are light cycles for vegetative growth and the blooming stage. Study the type of plant you`re growing, nutrients needed, and the best light cycle for what you want the plant to do. With greens like mustard we want them to produce leaves and not blooms for as long as possible, usually, unless you`re growing the plants for seeds to make mustard. Growing indoors is much easier using a hydroponic setup for most leafy greens. It`s an incredibly easy way to grow leaf lettuce and many herbs. See Kakty method.
