People saying Britain ruined House music.. lol whatever ok.. but look at American dance music now, it's fucking terrible.. Britain didn't fuck up House music, America did. 'Murica destroyed Dubstep and DnB, and Trance.. the list goes on
Maxi...I don't think Derrick meant any disrespect to your side of the Atlantic. Over here it was simple in 1988...there was detroit techno, chicago house, and NY garage...the sound was kindbased geographically. When I took a break from mixing in '93 and moved to NY I'd run into various DJs telling me what records were hot now. I had no idea what the hell they were talking about...all this subgenres...
not at all. thats what drove me away from the scene in the nineties. nyc underground house virtually sounded the same. and the rave music sounded just like what dave borell said-people bringing the high of ectasy to process on a record. and do we need a whole bunch of sub genres of house to sell it was ridiculous. one time it was up to over 80 genres under the umbrella of house(thankfully most of the sub genres died off.)
Brilliant!
Shaun Ryder must have been stoned out of his mind during that "WFL" video LOL!!
Mr. C is a misunderstood comedian.
'The English always have to have a label for everything'. Good point, but thats why we have the richest language on this planet!
Derrick is my homeboy. He is right about all the extra BS sub-genres. Keep things simple!!
I dunno Maxi. I'm English, been clubbing for years and I have to agree with Sir Derrick May on this one.
Found it. Same old good "Charly", but (Trip Into Drum And Bass Version)
yeah, derrick is spot on. there are too many sub-genres in music! some music don't have a genre, and that's that!!
"10 Pounds to Get In" laid the foundation for jungle?
what about Success-N-Effect's "Roll It Up"??
Has anyone got any Viera's? Lovely!
...And of course you know the title of that track is a code for "Eben E's Are Good " right?
an homage to ecstacy taking.
I never tire of the Shamen.
