I don't really get this 'humanization' angle. Casino Royale is a direct adaption of a Bond novel, and it's character work is far deeper than anything presented in a Mission Impossible film. License to Kill, Bond goes rogue and seeks revenge for the murder of Felix, Living Daylights he's hunting down the killer of fellow agents, World is Not Enough Bond has to choose to kill a woman with stockholm syndrome who he loves, Goldeneye has a rebuke of Bond's character which is a carry over from Goldfinger, Skyfall addresses Bond's relationship with M, On Her Mahesty's Secret Service Bond falls in love and gets married only to have his wife murdered... I could keep going but I feel like people watched like 2 bad Bond movies and an Austin Powers movie and decided that was the character

I love both. The last Mission Impossible movies have been more consistent while even improving though. Casino Royale and Skyfall are top class movies but Quantum Solace was average and Spectre was just decent. All in all i think its absolutely amazing how they are still even good, we need to appreciate that more.
I've always agreed with all this. I've always thought James Bond is kind of sleazy and Ethan is a bona fide bad ass and true hero. But even character traits aside, the actions scenes from Mission Impossible are so much more exhilarating. Part of it is Tom Cruise's dedication I think but part of it is that his character feels more vulnerable. It just makes Ethan's victories feel so much better, so much more earned.
Let us see if the cast of Ethan Hunt changes from other than Tom Cruise, will it still be great and liked by everyone? Also a good thing about Bond is that as he gets older his ability declines a little, where Ethan at any age actually does things that are unrealistic and almost impossible (maybe according to the title) which makes him more like a super human than a secret agent. On the other hand, Hunt's story is more suitable for modern society, where the story is not "toxic masculine" and does not degrade any gender.
I reject political correctness, feminism, women's equality, woke, and all that other bullshit. That doesn't mean I embrace 007's one dimensional brute qualities. Men are awesome, men are kind, funny, wise, noble, compassionate, heroic protectors and creators. Ethan Hunt is the better character.

Mission Impossible benefits from the Bond films being sabotaged by the woke producers because of Bond's sexuality. Ethan Hunt's arrangement with Julie is weird and creepy if you think about it, but the Mission Impossible filmmakers largely avoid causing you to think about it. Also Tom Cruise is remarkably a better stuntman than Craig, there is no shaky cam funny business going on in the MI films like Quantum of Solace.
I am totally agree with you!. I do love Bond movies. But, Ethan Hunt is better. What i see on Ethan is that He is a Human. Especially MI3 we really see him as a person that struggle about his love life and his work. It shows that he does have flaws and he'll figure it out. sorry for my bad english.

Well Bond really requires a kind of lighthearted actor to pull it off. The superspy who secretly infiltrates the enemy territory with an "Im a british spy" sign all around his head cant be taken seriously. In MI they at least use those masks and some tricks.
Both movies have their own charm and entertaining factor. Bond is like a job role. For in bond movies it is more of cool gadgets, car chase, one liners, explosions. MI is about those twists, team work, cool tech, of course stunts.
Bond is the world weary seasoned vet who is happy to work alone, hunt is the cocky newcomer , if it came to a face off between the two , Bond would finish it while Hunt was still talking to his team...

That's a fair criticism, but one of the main things about the MI movies is that they always start with a standard mission going completely sideways for one reason or another. Since moviegoers love drama, those are the stories that are told, the grand and chaotic adventures with full of action that have worldwide consequences. For all we know (and in my own personal head canon), Hunt and others could be making moves and deals every week like Jim and his team did and even how Hunt and Jim did in the beginning of the first movie before the mission where Hunt's team is killed. However, since these are big budget blockbusters, I restate that those aren't the stories that people want to tell.
Ethan Hunt and Michael Westem both benefit from having a trusted team of friends. James Bond and Jason Bourne are self sufficient but are cold and one dimensional. Jack Bauer is a middle ground man. Yes he often works alone on the field but he has a team at headquarters and can play nice with on site allies or agents. But he still has the coldness and hardness of Bond & Bourne.

Craig's Bond loves his woman equallty to anything Hunt shows for his wife. Compared to Criaig's Bond, Hunt's tricks are interesting but totaly unbelieveable . Daniel Craig’s James Bond is Overrated. Casino Royale is really good, however it feels like it’s trying to compete with the Bourne movies too much. I think most of us can agree that Quantum of Solace and Spectre are lacklustre. However, for me Skyfall is far too overrated. It’s a bad,and in one scene distasteful, movie hidden behind pretty visuals. Too many people are blinded by the pretty images that the atrocious writing is completely overlooked. The plot is super messy, how the villain is able to execute his plan is poorly written, the ending is the silly Home Alone Trope, but the biggest issue for me is the treatment of the Bond Girl- Severine. The filmmakers were really careless with some of their decisions, such as the shower scene, as well as the waste of scotch line. The way the filmmakers portrayed the character’s death was really mean spirited and felt really distasteful. Additionally, her character is also a great example of wasted potential. The actress, Berenice Marlohe is far more charismatic and interesting than Madeline from Spectre and now No Time To Die. Having a victim of sex trafficking (from a very young age) as a Bond girl can make for an interesting dynamic and set up great character arcs. And it’s a shame the character was wasted, because the Bond Girl who Craig’s Bond settles down with- Madeline- is as charismatic as a plank of wood. It’s weird how Cuck Fukunanga and Waller-Bridge didn’t bring this up during their public bashing of Bond. I think it’s funny that they called Bond a rapist, and the one time their point was Kinda( Kinda) valid- the shower scene- they didn’t bring it up. Maybe cause they didn’t want to upset their overlord Barbara Broccoli. Another big problem I have with Daniel Craig’s Bond as a whole. He doesn’t feel like a hero, just an MI6 agent acting when it’s too late. As seen with Severine and M. Additionally , also compare Craig’s Bond with Ethan Hunt and how his failure to save someone drives him. If he promised to save someone like Severine, he would stop at nothing to ensure it. Look at Ilsa in Rogue Nation and Fallout. And if he failed to do so, it’ll haunt him. As seen with the blonde girl at the beginning of Rogue Nation, and how his failure drives him to catch Lane. Ethan Hunt feels like a hero. Maybe they rectify this in NTTD, please let me know. Also Craig seemed to be phoning it in ever since Skyfall. The man looked exhausted in like every scene of that movie and Spectre. Idk…it just feels like in the last two decades, Bond has lost his relevance with other better spy movies coming out, like the later Mission Impossibles, Kingsman and The Man From Uncle. My opinions on Skyfall seem to be in the minority, I would really appreciate anyone else’s perspective. Please let me know if I’m missing something or perhaps you might agree. Hmmm... them's fightin' words! Better than Bond??? I'mmmmm not so sure. Bond has longevity that survives changing actors, and Tom Cruise has clung onto Hunt for yeeears (not necessarily a bad thing), but you do put up some good points. I think I might have to sit on the fence with this one.

One of the things that both Bond and Hunt have in common is that they both lost the love of their life. Bond lost Tracy Bond(married to James for a minute)who was assassinated, Hunt lost Ilsa Faust(they weren’t married) who was killed in the line of duty.

I think both are equally good, the only reason you are analyzing all this because. Mission Impossible won the most recent round they faced each other at the box office and pulled off the better movie. Rouge Nation was much better than Spectre, was better received and did better at the box office but it’s not all said and done we need another round my friend. If next time both franchises release their movie the same year and Mission impossible does better again then we can get worried about Bond’s longevity and if he is still relevant. James Bond can raise again with Bond 25. Bond slipped with Spectre but I feel like we will the character and the franchise rise up again. I do fear a little for this franchise and I was sort of looking for this video. Jason, Craig;s Bond are more realistic. Both show love for a love of their life. both learn as they go, Hunt already knows everythng, and his on screen feat of daring are unrealistic. Craigs Bond and Bounre need no super human skills, just training and self discipline to master. Hunt is more like a Superman, Craig and Boune are more like Batman.

Bond brings finesse to the character. Remember, there is no Ethan without Bond. Like Lebron chasing Jordan. We all know who is the goat. Listen, 007 movies draw more audiences. Mission impossible movies are forgettable while 007 are iconic. I like Ethan's consistency since 96, but remember, that is Tom Cruises franchise. Like Sly plays Rambo and he will continue to play Rambo from the nursing home. I like Bonds better because is minimalistic. Mission impossible is a different movie and looks like the A Team.

That's a fair criticism, but one of the main things about the MI movies is that they always start with a standard mission going completely sideways for one reason or another. Since moviegoers love drama, those are the stories that are told, the grand and chaotic adventures with full of action that have worldwide consequences. For all we know (and in my own personal head canon), Hunt and others could be making moves and deals every week like Jim and his team did and even how Hunt and Jim did in the beginning of the first movie before the mission where Hunt's team is killed. However, since these are big budget blockbusters, I restate that those aren't the stories that people want to tell.
Ethan Hunt and Michael Westem both benefit from having a trusted team of friends. James Bond and Jason Bourne are self sufficient but are cold and one dimensional.
Jack Bauer is a middle ground man. Yes he often works alone on the field but he has a team at headquarters and can play nice with on site allies or agents. But he still has the coldness and hardness of Bond & Bourne.

Daniel Craig’s James Bond is Overrated.
Casino Royale is really good, however it feels like it’s trying to compete with the Bourne movies too much. I think most of us can agree that Quantum of Solace and Spectre are lacklustre. However, for me
Skyfall is far too overrated. It’s a bad,and in one scene distasteful, movie hidden behind pretty visuals. Too many people are blinded by the pretty images that the atrocious writing is completely overlooked.
The plot is super messy, how the villain is able to execute his plan is poorly written, the ending is the silly Home Alone Trope, but the biggest issue for me is the treatment of the Bond Girl- Severine.
The filmmakers were really careless with some of their decisions, such as the shower scene, as well as the waste of scotch line. The way the filmmakers portrayed the character’s death was really mean spirited and felt really distasteful.
Additionally, her character is also a great example of wasted potential. The actress, Berenice Marlohe is far more charismatic and interesting than Madeline from Spectre and now No Time To Die. Having a victim of sex trafficking (from a very young age) as a Bond girl can make for an interesting dynamic and set up great character arcs. And it’s a shame the character was wasted, because the Bond Girl who Craig’s Bond settles down with- Madeline- is as charismatic as a plank of wood.
It’s weird how Cuck Fukunanga and Waller-Bridge didn’t bring this up during their public bashing of Bond. I think it’s funny that they called Bond a rapist, and the one time their point was Kinda( Kinda) valid- the shower scene- they didn’t bring it up. Maybe cause they didn’t want to upset their overlord Barbara Broccoli.
Another big problem I have with Daniel Craig’s Bond as a whole. He doesn’t feel like a hero, just an MI6 agent acting when it’s too late. As seen with Severine and M.
Additionally , also compare Craig’s Bond with Ethan Hunt and how his failure to save someone drives him. If he promised to save someone like Severine, he would stop at nothing to ensure it. Look at Ilsa in Rogue Nation and Fallout. And if he failed to do so, it’ll haunt him. As seen with the blonde girl at the beginning of Rogue Nation, and how his failure drives him to catch Lane. Ethan Hunt feels like a hero. Maybe they rectify this in NTTD, please let me know.
Also Craig seemed to be phoning it in ever since Skyfall. The man looked exhausted in like every scene of that movie and Spectre.
Idk…it just feels like in the last two decades, Bond has lost his relevance with other better spy movies coming out, like the later Mission Impossibles, Kingsman and The Man From Uncle.

One of the things that both Bond and Hunt have in common is that they both lost the love of their life. Bond lost Tracy Bond(married to James for a minute)who was assassinated, Hunt lost Ilsa Faust(they weren’t married) who was killed in the line of duty.

Well, We could say that Ethan Hunt is still alive whereas James Bond is dead.
I think both are equally good, the only reason you are analyzing all this because. Mission Impossible won the most recent round they faced each other at the box office and pulled off the better movie.
Rouge Nation was much better than Spectre, was better received and did better at the box office but it’s not all said and done we need another round my friend.
If next time both franchises release their movie the same year and Mission impossible does better again then we can get worried about Bond’s longevity and if he is still relevant.
James Bond can raise again with Bond 25. Bond slipped with Spectre but I feel like we will the character and the franchise rise up again.

Now I most admit you do have your good reasons to doubt on the longevity of the franchise, there is a critic in Mexico who says that Bond is loosing its relevance in pop culture. But not for the reasons you pointed out but because it’s not longer the only film franchise with cool cars, gadgets and beautiful locations and he said now fast and furious it’s taking its place.
I do fear a little for this franchise and I was sort of looking for this video.
At the end I just hope Bond had just slipped and will recover for the next film but if it definitely goes down slowly it won’t be because of the character is outdated more because the franchise is no longer special and unique.

Obviously Ethan Hunt will always be the favourite over James Bond. Daniel Craig can never surpass Tom Cruise when it comes to action movies and stunts.
Bond being a cynic is what it makes it okay for him to think of exploding a whole bunch of people as option 1/ an acceptable option when, with just a couple more thought, he could have avoided that. Hunt is an optimist but also a realist. It means he will try to figure out all the scenarios to achieve the mission in an acceptable way. Isn't that what makes for a better spy? Jason, Craig;s Bond are more realistic. Both show love for a love of their life. both learn as they go, Hunt already knows everythng, and his on screen feat of daring are unrealistic. Craigs Bond and Bounre need no super human skills, just training and self discipline to master. Hunt is more like a Superman, Craig and Boune are more like Batman.
