I loved Fresh Fields and French Fields as a kid. I’ve loved reliving it all over again. I must admit, Fresh Fields was way better than French Fields. I think they knew that and that’s why they ended it like this. This was set up perfectly to bring back Fresh Fields. Such a shame that we never got it back after this. But I guess this was a fitting end. It’s such a shame Anton died, too, so we could never get a proper comeback.
I think with the fish-out-of-water scenario and the larger cast, French Fields had a lot of potential that the writers struggled to realize. I felt they didn't get a handle on it until the series was almost over. I did wish, tho', that Mm. Remoleux had met with an unfortunate farming accident early on.
I was disappointed how the series ended - Hester getting more nationalistic until she was basically rubbishing France, and the life there that she had recently loved so much. Overall the third series was not anywhere near as strong as the first two. I think losing so many actors/characters (original Dax, the Trendels, etc) really hurt the show. Still, it was great to see Sonia!
I swear! The English use "bought" from to buy instead of "brought" to bring when talking about bringing something. P.G Wodebouse does the same thing in "Jeeves". Very irritating.

More characters who were good actors made the difference, although some of the French ones were good - the Mayor and the Real Estate lady.
