I don't like most contemporary music but this piece was actually good. The 2-note motif becomes quite menacing over time and the bass drop on bar 72 is quite satisfying.
Musical theory handles this material quite well. Saariaho has a much deeper engagement with it than you do. Musical theory also has by now a rich tradition of self-reflexivity and self-criticism in distinguishing between descriptive and normative theory. You should perhaps read some of it.
I think Scriabin would have liked this piece, but then again he was the one who composed the Black Mass Sonata, so maybe you're right ;-)@@JD_Washington
R.I.P. Kaija Saariaho
Amazing what she does with just two notes
The C# and D lasting in my mind for a while after the music ended
Excellent. So clear, so unique. Like a new species of fish or something
I can't believe you've got the score! This is incredible work you're doing - thank you so much
It is very rewarding to listen THEN follow the manuscript. A gorgeous piece.
what's goregous

Pianist: Roland Pöntinen, maybe???
Great work! More info about this wonderful person who created it !
Toujours ce problème d'absence du nom de l'interprète
Roland Pöntinen? (Shazam pense qu'il pourrait s'agir de lui.)
masterpiece
This and Ballade sounds like continuation of nocturnes
quite good.
Reminds me Ligeti
reminds me why tonality should not be abandoned
@@JD_Washington You are right, atonality nor tonality shouldn't be abandoned.

Because I've spent hundreds of hours syncing recordings and the scores for free - all for YOUR benefit.
Seriously, these are an incredible resource that he put together by hand
Luri Ession you must be very stupid
Folks, this is what musical theory was trying to prevent
