      @@IAmTheJayster I'd like to understand the deal better. Who will cover the further cost in 12 months (e.g. development and operations)? Also if the existing conversations with the retailers he mentioned turn into actual sales, who will get the revenue out of it? I am just confused as this is not the usual structure of the final deal in dragons den. Normally, the dragon only gets certain % for a certain period, then would reduce it once they get their money back

      The wand company went on to do very well. It took them much longer to get to 1.2 million than they predicted. Currently they are turning over 1.5 million. So Duncan did ok.

    Karuma Innovations is a Singapore based company but is no longer selling the Tablet PC's pitched in the den. The investment never went through and Karuma has since developed into a consultancy business.

    Peters negotiation in the first pitch was crazy, the guy came in wanting to give 25% for 150k and left for 150k and 25% in his own company… poor on his part ngl

      The US-Stock Mrkt had been on it’s longest bull-run in history, so the mass hysteria and panic is relatable considering we’re not accustomed to such troubled mrkts, but there are avenues lurking around if you know where to look. My wife and I are retiring this year with over $7,000,000 in tax deferred investments. up until 3 years ago we were 100% in the S&P. During bear markets we had a perfect plan. We got an investment manager in our corner and didn’t look at our portfolio for nearly a year.

    The first one was reallyyyy cool to watch!! Its nice how respectful the dragons are of each other and how open minded they are! Their silence and dedicated attention while peter was negotiating was impressive. Theyve interrupted each other before, but they could all tell he was cooking up something amazing in his brain and *wanted* to listen to him kill it. Respect off the charts, they all learned something. Very cool

    I am surprised by the Wand Company ... especially Peter's interest. They even explained that it is just a universal remote control chip (and the downside that you have to learn it the relevant code, hardly magic!) - so although it is novel, I thought at least Peter would know how the PCB was able to determine gestures and orientation. But all credit to them, they have managed to make it sell well. I presume primarily as it isn't a large rectangular remote.

      this is an old dragns den, this is from over 12 years ago, so at the time, it was something novel. Its not JUST a universal remote chip, there are accelerometers and other stuff going on. Fairly normal for today, but if you think this was pretty much at the same time as the iphone 3, which was game changing tech, then its more understandable

    For the magic wand one, if you were wondering what the top secret next project was, they wanted to make a Doctor who themed version with the sonic screwdriver, but due to lack of funding from sales in the second year, they cancelled the idea. They made 2 mil in the first year, but the next year was an absolute disaster.

      @@ShinseiX my mistake, a couple of years ago, the US side was showing a value of over $3m but it seems to be in falling apart now. It's come down from £2m in 2019 to £975k in 2021. Partly down to a 13 fold increase in liabilities!

    The magic wand was a total waste of money. I actually bought it. When You watch it on TV it seems like wow! it's like a real magic wand! I wave it and this turns on, I rotate it and that turns on. But in reality the moment I bought I suddenly realized "How many remotely controlled things do I have at home? Basically only TV and video player." And it also had such limited number of functions. It couldn't even replace the TV remote controller. I still had to use one. I played with it for may be half an hour and never touched it again.

    The wandcompany is doing fine in the last years on their own.
    But planit products did not do well. The took a loan from the bank, but sales didn't go up.

      They were a huge disappointment to me. I bought a 2pack in the US for $7.00 (about 5 pounds) and didn't find them good at all. They were a great idea concept-wise but didn't deliver as expected.

      Yes and no, he incorporates that guys business into one of his already existing larger ones and launches it across his own product line because he now has access to that technology, and then that guy owns 25%of that bigger business department
