I learned to play volleyball on that beach in 1986. One of my great joys in life to play, beach doubles on weekend or after work at Kits, into the sunset. I played in 2 Jose Cuervo's, never did better than 1 win but still priceless experience...The beautiful life...Cheers Jimmy, great job.
Great vid guys. Brings back a tonne of memories. Jim taught me how to play in the late 80s at Kits Beach when I was a chippy teenager. I have some wonderful memories of Kits Beach, Jim and the beach vball community through the 90s. I think my favorite moment was Vancouver Open circa 1997(?) when I crossed Olympic Bronze Medalists Mark Heese and John Child in the 2nd or 3rd round. Two local Vancouver boys, centre court, with the crowd behind them all the way. We score the first point, up 1-0, the crowd go nuts!!!! Nothing could go wrong....Then we proceed to lose 15-1 (side out days). Good times... Miss you Jim, (and eveyone else out there) thanks for all you've done.
Excellent time watching this video again in preparation for Vancouver Open 2022! Wish there was a part 2! I've worked with Jim for 2-3 years when he volunteered at UBC. Super humble, very genuine and generous with his time. Legit legend. Great vid!
I love it! I’m relatively new to the beach volleyball community, so I never knew where beach volleyball came from, why Vancouver is so important, and who some of these people are. This video was very interesting to me, and I absolutely love it! ❤️
@@themckibbinbrothers it's our pleasure. By the way, if you guys take vid requests I'd love to see something on how to create wicked top-spin. You guys crush the ball straight down, but some of us struggle with our vert. Take care.
Love it! Great storytelling guys! I've been to this tournament (never played in it though) and you nailed it in the video - it's the greatest beach volleyball party/tournament/spectacle on the planet.
Birch Bay Surf Club, I’ve been as well. Several times, in fact. I know Jim Clive and the rest of the Kits Beach VB crew. But as good as this tourney is, it’s not as good as Seaside.
I love your videos guys but I’m so disappointed that you guys weren’t able to make it to seaside this year. Please mark your schedules for next year. August 7th-9th 2020. Again thanks for making all your videos and enjoy watching everyone of them!!
@@wayneyoung5014 I bet! Too bad it's regulated so heavy now there. It's coming here, why? I bet they don't want us showing things happening behind fences. The Beard Bros. probably had no idea that it was regulated.
