Thank you $4k new $1800 rebuilt +400 install, watched this video cost me $300 my video coming soon pay it forward it was so easy I had a stroke 2 months ago and had no real problems
Just did this on my wife’s 2013 grand Cherokee I wouldn’t have attempted it without your video thank you! Took 8 hours but went pretty smoothly thank you!!
Thanks for this! My wife's 2014 Durango started making the noise and bam, threw it up on my buddy's lift and we got it banged out in about an hour. Thanks!
Sweet! I see things really don’t change much. I had to do this same job in a 2004 with the NP247 full time transfer case. It’s really not more difficult then the older part time cases. I did the oil pan on my 13 grand and had to drop the whole front crossmember. A lot of work but not complicated. By far the worst part was getting the front CV driveshaft out of those yoke cups! Give me U joints and straps any day.
Watching this video, gave me the confidence to do it myself. The auto part store gave me the price of a new transfer case at 1800 to 2750... i called the dealership parts department got the part numbers and Google searched them and found both sprockets and chain for less than 450 and I put them on myself due to this video... oh and the auto part store did not sell the parts separately... dealership only.
Hopefully I don’t need to do this, but if I do looks like I can do it thanks to your video. I change my Transfer case Fluid along with the front & rear Differentials every 30k and I hope that it will prevent any future issues.
Hey, great video! I have a different t case on my Dakota, but I strongly suspect I have the same chain slop issue. Your video is very helpful and encouraging. I plan to do the slop test on it soon to be sure, and most likely I'll end up doing the job myself in the garage.
Hello sir,, I want to thank you for your efforts to explain this issue,, my question is how much fluid [ATF] is transfer case take?? Waiting your answer please. ALI,, from IRAQ.
I was lookin at the manual for this chain install and it says "There is a blue link on one side of the chain. This blue link MUST be installed facing upward" Not sure if they mean facing outwards so you can see the blue links after you have the chain installed or if they mean upwards like at the top of the sprockets
Good job man thank you I have a clicking noise I guess that’s what I’ll be doing soon:) you didn’t list the parts and where you got them always a blessing to have that:)
Is your clicking noise when you go from P to R, then to 1st and right when you stop? Mine clicks, but not nonstop yet. You can hear it when reversing, right when it stops, and right as she goes from first. I'm not sure if it's the transfer case, or a bad u-joint on the front drive shaft. Your ideas would be appreciated.
I think I am having the same problem with mine. Do you have any videos/recordings of the sound it was making? It seems like you are describing the same thing. How much did the chain run you, about 200?
Someone actually made a video 🎉🎉🎉🎉 I was afraid to take mines apart to rebuild because I don’t know where to get the parts can you point me in the right direction for parts specifically for the the same job you just did
My car is a 2012 SRT, I have this same problem and its been getting worse since I bought the car. Mopar catalogue shows that its the same part used in all WK2 Grand Cherokees.
Hi, I've got a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo ZJ with the full time all wheel drive. It's making the same noise when I do a hard pull off from a stop. My Jeep has the NP 249 transfer case and it does have the viscus coupling. Do you think the chain could be causing the noise and would the cover be able to be removed as easily as this jeep was? Thanks.
Im having same problem. It only makes noise as you accelerate. I can let go of peddle and no noise. But hit gas pedal. And clunk clunk. Did you have same issue. Gas pedsl only noise
That sounds very similar to my issue. First it started doing it only when it was really really cold outside and coasting downhill, now it does it at all temperatures, mainly when accelerating now, and it speeds up as I accelerate. 2011 Grand Cherokee. 5.7 QTII
I am hearing and feeling My 2019 grand Cherokee knocking noise in the back when it shifts from 1st to 2nd gear. Sounds like going over a bump in the back. I hear a knock when I first get in starting into1st or reverse sometimes. And sometimes when shifting back down into first while coming to a stop. Do you think this is the problem you are describing in the video?
Did you find it big guy? Amazon found the chain . went to Chrysler they wanted 200 plus I bought the Amazon for 75. I am going to evaluate the chain guide before I spend another 80 bucks.
@@ManuelMartinez-je9hm according to this guys video, it doesn't look bad..but remember a rebuilt transfer case is about 2k just to buy it and then pay labor to install.

Where did you get the parts from? Site ? Auto zone? Part numbers for the chain?
do you remember offhand what the torque was for the 8mm bolts that couple the front/rear drive shaft & the 12mm for the balancer?....I appreciate it

I have fluid leaking down my damper, any clue what seal would be causing this? Or where it could be coming from?
Was this the QT ll, AWD 146 or 245 case???
Wondering if i can split mine or has to completely come out!
Thanks!
Do any if you guys have a part number or where to get it thank you 🙏🏻

is there a kit? My 2007 jeep commander is having this issue. Same as your other video and now I hear more rattling during normal driving.
Mine is doing that right now.. is it something I could do myself or would I need a mechanic?
Hi, could you send me the link to buy the transfer case chain?
I wonder if the SRT and Trackhawk use a stronger setup.

As far as the noise, where you getting a washboard feeling when slowing below 20mph
Thank you man fixed mine
Hello, Can you please provide the chain part number? and where you bought it from?
You can always call a dealership parts store they will know
Where did you find the chain at? I'm having the same issue on my 06 srt8 jeep. Transfer case is the 146

How difficult was the back cover to take off? Mine is not wanting to come off
what is the part number ?
Can this work on a jeep srt 2012 transfer case?
Hey fellas and fellest, I’m about to attempt this here in a few mins. What type of fluid did you use to refill it?
How'd it go?
is this the MP3023 transfer case
Doesn't look like one.
MP2023 and 3023 are same chassis and chain: 3023 has electric motor and two-speed gear train (more complicated)
Where did you bought the parts
Does anyone know torque specs for transfer case bolts. And drive shaft bolts. Thanks
Do transfer cases ever make a whining sound?
I have a 08 compass
Yes. When they are low on oil and tires arent same diameter.
Which transfer case ??
are there any special tools required for gear removal? If not where they easy to pull off with the chain?
Mine just fell off after I pulled the cover off no tools needed
That’s what my 07 Jeep srt8 doing do you think it’s the same transfer case ???
Did you get it fixed? I have a 06 srt8 jeep with the 146 transfer case

Definitely change both gears since your that far already, same as an engine timing chain and gear change, they should go together...
