Working at a teacher, I get lots of reactions to my smaller tattoos that I don't cover. I have one student in particular right now who has clearly discussed my tattoos with her family at home as she's told me everyone in her household's opinions on tattoos. I found it created a good teaching moment when she told me her dad doesn't like tattoos and I was able to say "We're all allowed to like different things. Your dad doesn't like tattoos but he still respects me and that is what is important."

My favorite with my tattoos is when I worked at a national park. There was an Amish family and their kids came up to me with my blazing red half shaved hair and tattoos showing. The kids thought I looked so cool and asking me questions. I got the meanest glare from the parents. I corrupted a child that day. Also learned Amish families go on vaca too lol

    • @ThePopopotatoes
      @ThePopopotatoes 2 ปีที่แล้ว +32

They may have been Mennonite. They dress the same but use technology much more. The Amish generally only use some technology for work, and that will depend on their local church rules. I'm not sure Amish go on vacation, they might, but Mennonites certainly do.

I in general have an aura of "scary witch lady" which I admit I'm secretly pleased by. At work one day a kid came tearing around a corner, saw me with my tattoos literally doing nothing just standing there and started crying while going, "I got to get out of here." Finally his mom found him and asked him what scared him and he pointed to me!

    • @Scarethelocals

Same! Well I'm a dude but generally same vibe. I was walking into a restaurant a couple days ago and there was a mom standing on the phone outside and her little boy was running in circles, literally. So he goes wide and runs into my leg as I was walking up. He looked up and started screaming like a maniac and ran to his mom and was crying. He then said "mommy the scary man, the scary man mommy! He's gonna get me....I stepped on his shoes." It was really cute actually, I laughed and gave him a dollar because that's what I had in my pocket lol and he yanked it and ran again lol.

I used to work at a library, and even though I didn't have any visible tattoos at the time I scared the kids in the children's section into silence when I stomped in with my huge boots, blue hair, piercings, heavy make-up, and clad in black 24/7. My coworkers said that they loved having me there because I was the only one that made sure that the other customers could read in peace without having to utter a single word.

Being from Hawaii, it’s extremely normal here. I used to work at a gas station and a tourist told me that he noticed so many people are tattooed here and asked why is it so popular here because he comes from somewhere you rarely see people tatted up and my answer was somewhere along the lines of “it’s a cultural thing, we’ve been tattooing for centuries” lol.

So he went up and handed it to her and said "You have the most coolest leg tattoos I have ever seen!" Just got my first tattoo, a rose on my forearm, a few weeks ago. My 7 year old was kinda weirded out by it and didn't want to touch it or let me hug him with both arms. He got over it though 😄 My 2 year old on the other hand just looked at it, pointed and said, "rose?" and then pointed to the same spot on her own arm and said, "rose." 😄

20+ years ago I was starting to collect large pieces and my friend's kids loved them. Every time I stopped by their house i had to show the kids my "pictures". One of my black work pictures is a jungle with vines and some small plain flowers. I'd bring a bunch of different high-lighters and let them color in my tattoos. They had fun, it more or less washed off fairly easy. No shock, judging, freaking out, I had pictures and that was cool with them.

I'm not that heavily tattooed and I work with children in a school daycare. Most kids ask me if my tattoos are drawings, how they got to stay there and if it hurt. In summer they often want to colour my bigger tattoos and the only "negative" reaction I got so far was from children that are raised religiously, specifically muslim, they often tell me that I'm gonna go to hell or that I'm an evil person because I'm tattooed, because tattoos are haram, but they're still the ones that are the most curious and ask the most questions. I don't really mind those comments, since I'm an atheist, and they're mostly amusing to me, as long as they don't chase after me and won't leave me alone (that's when I get really annoyed). But please, if you're religious and want to raise your children in that religion, also teach them to not judge other people by their way of living or how they look, "Thou shalt keep thy religion to thyself". Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Depends on what you got. I have a new school beckoning cat on my forearm and some manga panels that always gets little kids pointing at me excited to see doodles on a person. Usually parents are like, "wow yeah very colorful. He has tattoos" and aren't mean about it.

I read about someone who was in a cafe and there was a little girl staring at the tattoos on their arms and then the mum said to the girl that she should ask about it. And the little girl came over and said “excuse me. Does your mum help you out your tattoos on every morning or can you do it yourself?”

One of mt favorite pictures on the internet is of Geoff and Griffon Ramsey and their daughter Millie with some caption about how people with tattoos can be nice people or something like that but actually knowing the photo makes it better. I'm the only person with tattoos that my nephew has seen and he's asked me why I have so many so many times, I also have "dumb luck" tattooed on my leg and the pure sass when he said it should say stupid luck instead killed me

The best comments from kids I’ve gotten is when they say they want tattoos like me because they make me cool. Parents though are worse about it. They always try to distance their kid from me or lie to their kid saying that they’ll “get cancer from them or go to hell or that their arm will fall off” lol

Other people's kids don't seem to care at all. Most of my friends with kids either has tattoos themselves or have a lot of other tattooed friends so it's not anything out of the ordinary to them.
Both me and my ex wife are tattoed, not that heavy (yet) but more than most. So our kids are very used to them.
My 14yo is more than anything was a bit bothered by them and my style in general (very long grey beard, denim vest blasted with metal/industrial/literary/occult patches, combat boots). I think it's because his class at the school he used to go to was very narrow in what was deemed "normal" and it wasn't a vibe where sticking out was a good thing. But since he changed schools in grade 7 and went to an art focused school he has mellowed out a lot. He's a gamer through and through and likes oversized hoodies in bright colours.
My 10yo on the other hand likes my style and share some of the softer side of my musical taste and even has a denim jacket with some patches on it (sisters of mercy back patch, a unicorn and some cherries that are the same as on my vest).

I live in a family that think big non meaningful tattoos just ruin people's bodies. I genuinely think they're really cool but have anxiety towards ever getting a tattoo because of like pain, cost, regretting it, family etc.

I worked with kids at my old job and they all loved my tattooes. My little 4 and 5 yr olds would say "I like your arm pictures" and the older ones who knew what tattoos are would say how cool they thought my tattoos were.

I was waiting for a friend once, and this little four year old Chinese girl comes up to me and starts pointing at my tattoos and asking me questions, and bless her heart, her mum came up and started translating 'cause this kid didn't speak a word of English, and I don't speak Mandarin. She was fascinated, her mum was really sweet, it was just really wholesome.

I just know my daughter will be tatted in the future. She’s been drawing on herself since she learned she could! So I’ve been teaching her what to look for in a good tattooer, what establishments are safe, what age I’d recommend getting them (because at 18 you’re broke and highly likely to get bad work done, or plain dumb lol), etc.

I have a Disney sleeve so most kids get really excited when they see my tattoos.
Although, on the Disney sleeve I have Meg and Mulan kissing and some kids will say “ew” because it’s two girls kissing

For context I live in Southern Kentucky, I once had a little kid about 4 or 5, tell me I was going to get a whipping because I had colored on my arms, for referene, I have a full sleeve. Thats been my favorite so far. The weirdest ones are the little only ladies who stop me and tell me that they love them.

My 4-year-old niece loves my tattoos (sylveon, koi fish, and octopus). When she first saw them, I told her that I had just taken a shower, and she was confused that I still had something on my skin. In a more recent time, she pointed to each tattoo and gleefully announced what they were ("Fish! Octopus! ....Cat! :D "). She was disappointed when I told her I only had three and that there weren't any more.
(Unfortunately, I won't be able to show her any of my future tattoos since my family despises tattoos, and I'm undercover. ;u; I don't feel comfortable teaching her how to keep secrets from her parents, and she may learn what a tattoo is as her vocabulary expands.)

My god son is 2 and he can't talk or anything yet but over the coarse of spending time with him over the last year or so its been fun watching him become aware of my tattoos and try to touch or grab at them. Seeing his eyes light up in curiosity is my favorite. If I'm holding him and he catches a glimpse of my chest piece he tries to pull down the collar of my shirt to look at it. He also Likes to stick his finger in my stretched ears. I love the little curious dude lol.

Honestly, most of my teachers that I’ve ever had have had tattoos, so when we were little just like looking at them to see what the pictures are.
It’s just pretty normal, some people have tattoos, some don’t. We just grew up like that.
