It's so weird hearing the story of the Bell Witch being popularized. It was a story I grew up hearing from my grandfather about considering he lived in the same area it took place in years before. I've even been to the Bell's gravesite. Not the Bell Witch though. Her grave is supposedly waaaay off in a field behind John Bell's and it's impossible to get to it. Let alone, it's on private property. It's definitely an interesting urban legend though.

    • @fckyoutube9605
      @fckyoutube9605 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Cool. Who would want her grave on their property though?

    • @ChristianGibbons777

Then it can’t be coincident that the Bell witch’s grave is on private property! To even think that this witch is said to have even spooked 1 of our actual American 🇺🇸 Presidents back thens scary. Especially because that president was in the war.

Loraine Warren for example can see people’s souls so, she’s more aware receptive & as well as perceptive of the spiritual forces in existence that just seems to fly over our heads. Man,this hits close to home, literally. I live in Tennessee and actually went to a school near the property. Freaky crap always happened and me and the other kids back then always thought we saw odd creatures in the bushes in the woods across the field from the playground fence.

The movie "An American Haunting" actually has none of the facts straight. My mum is close friends with someone descended from the original Bell family, and he now co-owns the property, and yes, it is severely haunted. I grew up in TN, so it's always been common knowledge that you don't go onto the Bell property at night xD but some people still place bets and "Dare" each other to spend a night there d:

      n American Haunting
No supernatural story in American history is more famous than that of the Bell Witch. In fact, tales of the spirit were so widespread that they caught the attention of a General and future President, Andrew Jackson.
To the right you will see the very famous picture of Betsy Bell, John Bell's daughter. Betsy was tortured by the Witch for several years of her childhood.
What was the Bell Witch? Like most supernatural stories, certain details vary from version to version. But the prevailing account is that the Bell Witch claimed to be the spirit of Kate Batts, a mean old neighbor of John Bell who believed she was cheated by him in a land purchase. On her deathbed, she swore that she would haunt John Bell and his descendents. The story is picked up by the Guidebook for Tennessee, published in 1933 by the Federal Government's Works Project Administration.
We invite you to come take a tour of the old Bell farm. Visit the Historic Bell Witch Cave and canoe down the Red River. For a truly haunting experience, schedule a Special Night TimeHaunted Candlelight Tour. Come and learn the details of one of the most famous mysteries in American history.

Indeed, the spirit hated John Bell something fierce. When asked when it would stop, it replied that it would when John was dead and buried. At his funeral, it sang joyous hymns. Though apparently it had a soft spot for his daughter, sobbing when she became ill.

Even president Andrew Jackson went to see the bell witch! He was so scared that he said something along the lines of "Id face a million more wars than face the bell witch again". I don't remember the exact words. It was the most active poltergeist ever recorded in history. It would have full conversations and touch visitors. Creeeeeeepppyyyy. I guess shes gone now but comes back ever so often

Well i was born in clarksville tn about a 30 min drive from there and i have seen the actual house not the remake of the area and the back of the it 15 miles away from the actual house and front of the cave. There is no sign tonit it is just a dirt road off the main hwy 79 the house looks as it did in the early 1934 picture with more trees around it now not an open field. When you get past an old metal bar gate about a half molenpast that is the house and the radio in my truck starte going crazy when we got sloser to the house. That was enough for me i left. The tour they have for it now is just a joke and robbery

I actually know someone who went to the Bell Witch cave. She said she didn't go very far in but one of her friends did and kinda went farther than he was supposed to go, like passed the marked off area of something, and he came running out of there, screaming; when they finally caught up with him, he had what looked like claw marks going down his back.
Good job, as usual. Oh, and they do candlelight tours at that place year round. You should see the Adams town welcome sign!

First off, ask yourself who benefits from a "haunting"? Why the family who made up the story. I believe in ghosts, just not the kind where it makes money for the people. Also I like where the "storyteller" suggests that if you go to the Bell family property, you will feel a "presence". So then, of course, you will feel something.

The events were alleged to have occurred between 1817-1821. The tale was popularized by Martin VanBuren Ingram who published the book, "Authenticated History of the Bell Witch" in 1894. Chapter 9 of the book contains what is alleged to be the memoirs of Richard Williams Bell who was one of John Bell's children living in the house at the time of the alleged events.

A similar thing happened to my 1st cousin, he had been interested in it, my cousin had decided to go in, his brother had told me he was pale like he saw a ghost, he had barely gone in but was his fingers colder than anything, usually this occurs when one is either getting cold or nervous, he was very shaken up but claimed nothing happened. I saw in his eyes something completely shook him up and he still isn't normal, I had talked to him and his brother about this before and regret it every time.
