Man just entered elite and was already giving a hard time to older men even in junior! Way to go Jackson, I’m happy that I started watching this sport just in time to witness you!
Same, got into MTB like 2016 and heavy into DH a few years later, just in time to watch his juniors and now this ... Get the same feeling watching him as I did Tony Hawk as a kid, or Jordan or Tiger. You know you're witnessing greatness!
It's just totally insane to see how far they can push the control of their bike and body. Like everything looks so smooth when u actually notice that they're always in the air even if it's just a straight line with roots. They just float over all obstacles and still manage to push insane amount of downforce on rugged terrain to make the turn and have the perfect line for the next one with such crazy tire angle! Insane ^^
I noticed the same thing about how light he was riding (floating) over things. He is still growing but I wonder given the amount of success the young guns are having that years of practice not "muscling" the bike is giving them a different skill set due to weight/size? Despite riding bike parks from 6yo, I kept my boys on hardtails until they were 12 and now when riding with their friends I see how light they ride compared to their mates who ride "through" things. It would be good to gets Jackson's prespective on this. I do worry about kids being "overbiked" and the bike compensating for a skills shortage until it goes bad.
@@robstoeckel353 I rode a walmart mongoose-style bike for like 2 years on downhill until the frame snapped in half (lol) then I bough a 2008 specialized BigHit with a 2012 rockshox boxxer in 2022, and I kind of feel what you're talking about. Ive always ridden full sus bikes, and I feel like I should have bough a very simple hardtail (here in brazil we have many options to ride) and ride it until it snapped in half like the other bike, and THEN buy my specialized. When you ride hardtails, you have a lot of control over the bike, you connect with the bike much better than on a full sus, where it just reads the terrain for you and you command the bike.
Hell yes Jackson !! Representing Squamish proudly. Let’s Goooooo !!! So stoked for you. So many more to come. Hopefully I get to meet you in Squam one day.
Wild ride man well done, you young guns really making the season interesting and reigniting my love for following DH races, can't thank you enough for that.
Congratulations Jackson! I've been a fan since you blew my mind when I saw you shredding Whistler as a little kid. Looking forward to routing for you for a long time. Keep living life to the fullest!
Sound you made on that first corner press up triggered my MTBing PTSD. This run is the definition of on the edge. Between you and Daprela I'm not sure how much harder a human can push on these tracks...
Unreal brother. Was watching the highlites and couldn't believe how fast you were flying down, even with a couple mistakes. Well done!!! Congrats on your first major win.
Awesome run by Jackson. Huge congrats to him & Team Syndicate. Was sitting on my V10 in the garage watching this run.👍👍👍 Have noticed that they run brakes opposite overseas. I live in Australia & always have had front brakes on Right & rear on Left.
This kid is literally super human in bikes, fitness, balance, control, but maybe even most impressive is how super human he is in composure and courage and BALLS?? Reminds me of Max Verstappen, ice in his veins. Fearless. Precise. It's just wildly impressive.
Seems like just yesterday I was watching your first run bike video and thinking how crazy this little kid was, now you're wining WC races in your very first elite season, crazy man, absolutely crazy - CONGRATS. Oh and that first corner, how you managed to stop yourself getting ejected, don't know.
VDS is a different animal though. Steep and rough. I can only see that kind of tech in the last flat section in the woods at Hardline and it was just 10 meters max. I had no issues with the jumps as they were manicured and made perfectly for the landing if you have enough speed but those drops were brutal!😆
small mass can change direction and momentum quicker, no way around physics :) fantastic descent mr Goldstone, well deserved win, wishing you all the best
@@duroxkilomore weight being carried downward so easier to gain momentum the way anchors do when being dropped down the water. Less weight slower like smaller anchors drop slower than heavier ones. You can see the big difference in Loudenville in the top straighter parts where bigger riders had so much speed.
@lamefart8831 i understand the concept. if they were racing downhill in a straight line, then a larger mass would reach a higher max speed given enough time. but that's not the case here as there are frequent velocity chances (both in speed and direction). to keep it short, think about it this way: unless some testing is carried out, small riders do not use supplemental weight to make up for a 'mass handicap'. less mass allows them higher speeds when changing direction. i'm not a specialist, my opinion may v well be wrong :)
After a deep analysis of a all the lines, and breaking points of the run; watching it on TV is really easy to come to this simple conclusion i would have crashed in the first 10 seconds and the entire analysis, and thus this comment is utterly useless! Well done, not for finishing first, but not being in the hospital, where I easily would have ended up!!
That massive HUUHHG at the start. Lost the front recovered carried on. All over before before we knew what happened. Like it never happened. I’d of popped both shoulders after that if I’d ever gone that fast 😅 Congratulations Mr Stones 🎉 …. Yeah we did see that first corner man. Jeez. Off for shoulder surgery 😅
Hey Jackson, I might try that technique next time I loose the front see if it works. So how do you spell Huh? Hugg? Hoa …? And should both stones retract at the same time or just the one nearest the floor ? A blow by blow account would be really helpful. Awesome man just awesome 😎
I remember when I first saw a video with this wonderkid Jackson like 7-8 years ago riding his local trails in Whistler and in comment section everybody was cheering him for his superb technique and style. But one comment stucked in my head, somebody was calling him cool to look, but slow. He was supposively doing some local races and that guy was saying, that he was ending not in the front, just around 10th place. Others were writing to him to chill, that it was just a kid enjyoing his bike and that he would eventually grow to the speed especially with such talent. I was thinking to myself that with such a mature style of riding he has to become one of the top riders and at that age around10 results do not matter, the only measure is style and fun. I think I was right :)

That first turn took my breath away, well done JG!
Jackson u are a BEAST
OMG! You are FLYING! Congrats on WINNING!
The future of downhill right here. Every line choice is impeccable and to do it at that speed is just nuts
You little ripper!
Well done brother 👏🎉
1st season in the elite class and your already a legend 😎 x

Legendary stuff already Jackson! Happy Canada Day indeed!

@@Sqwelch Sorry to inform you, but you're the ones backward af 😂
I think it's for hand signals on the road. Driving on the right hand side you can use your left hand for signals and your right hand for rear brakes.
Insane run. Amazing skill and precision. Loving the DH this year. Incredible racing 👏👏👏chapeau ❤

Been watching DH for a long as time ,think Minaar old, and damn Jackson is the real deal!
Unreal run! Congrats on the first elite won! Video would be super sick if it had the GPS data overlayed too! 🤙
I’ve never seen someone dance down the course like that. Amazing! 🎉
Scoping those lines up in the mountains after Leogang seems to have shaken out those cobwebs fella! That’s one mature run 🎉🎉🎉
so sick dude!
Messing up the last corner vs. almost messing up the first corner. Nice!
Absolute respect!
Insane Ride!!! 🎉
Flyin’! 🤟😎🔥
This kid won hardline, these tracks are a walk in the park... jokes aside.... fucking shredder.

Epic run
That was intense!
wow your so good, your speed is insane
You certainly figured out where you were going between course preview and this run
Well done man. You're just 18yo but ride like a legend. Congrats
What a shame you didn’t get a „look at the time“ for that sick run. Absolutely savage
He already got a "look at the time" from Rob at Hardline last year.
@@fillfreakin2245 has nothing to do with this run
That was awesome! I gotta ask what’s with all the bells and chainsaw noises?
Epic 👏🔥🔥
GREAT RUN ON THE GREAT UCI WC TRACK 👏👏👏👏🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
