Now this was a Barcelona team. No overpriced players that were useless and no superstar carrying it all. It was a team. Messi was already the best player in the world, but was one of 11, not the one carrying the eleven. They had a system, where everyone was involved, producing the most beautiful football I've ever seen in my life.
2010-2012 was the peak of the El Clasico rivalry. Because back then it wasnt just Barca vs Real, it was also Messi vs Ronaldo and Guardiola vs Mourinho.
I'm convinced that this barca team was the greatest of all time. They just completely overwhelmed everyone they played. It was a joy to watch them that year

The fact that the referee couldn't control this match by giving at least a yellow card to Ronaldo for pushing Pep or to Carvalho for hitting his elbow to Messi's face (which deserved a red card) and instead gave a yellow card to Messi is mind-blowing at this stage. He was diving a lot in it and playing dishonestly in order to gain advantage for Barcelona but still was the most creative player on the field mainly because of their strong possession control. Two of the goals from them were potentially offside and maybe wouldn't slide in today's age with VAR being a part of soccer. Ramos kicking him was brutal but completely justified considering Messi's behavior prior in the match. You can't just fall to the ground over and over again like a baby in a professional sport and expect special treatment constantly from the officials. He is the best player of all time by far with Ronaldo but he was playing unfairly in this match. Anyone who isn't biased can see that.
The pass Messi gives at 9:44 is just insanity. He looks up once.. for a millisecond. That's what makes him the greatest of all time. Few if any players can create goal scoring opportunities like that and make it look so effortless.

Watched this game with all my friends, what a night it was. during my engineering days we had rented a flat and had complete set of TV and cable just to watch those games. During those era El clasico was phenomenal.

One of the most epic matches ever. The atmosphere was so heated and intense. When Ronaldo pushed Guardiola for not giving him the ball and Ramos kicked Messi in the final minutes for diving a lot earlier in the game were the most crazy moments in this El Clásico bout. I will never forget this match. I was watching it on TV with my family and cousins at 12 years of age. We talked about it for months after at school :)
I mean, Mourinho was really not that good of a coach during his Real Madrid days. He had a straightforward system. Defend like your life depends on it. But in Real Madrid his squad was far from a defensive team. Too many attackers that barely helped in defence, and his actual defenders cared more about ending careers (Pepe,Ramos) than actually playing football. I remember going to watch Classicos and placing bets with my friends on who will get the red card first. Very few classicos finished with Real not getting a red card during that era and frankly more red cards were deserved but not given.

Real Madrid were getting frustrated and played rough because of it. Must have been so shameful for them to lose in such a dramatic and an overwhelming fashion. The most amazing and epic El Clásico battle ever. Soccer back then was incredible. Prime era for the sport.

Watched this game with all my friends, what a night it was.
during my engineering days we had rented a flat and had complete set of TV and cable just to watch those games.

When Ronaldo pushed Guardiola for not giving him the ball and Ramos kicked Messi in the final minutes for diving a lot earlier in the game were the most crazy moments in this El Clásico bout. I mean, Mourinho was really not that good of a coach during his Real Madrid days. He had a straightforward system. Defend like your life depends on it. But in Real Madrid his squad was far from a defensive team. Too many attackers that barely helped in defence, and his actual defenders cared more about ending careers (Pepe,Ramos) than actually playing football. I remember going to watch Classicos and placing bets with my friends on who will get the red card first. Very few classicos finished with Real not getting a red card during that era and frankly more red cards were deserved but not given.
