10:33:20 From * Mark / W7EAZ LIVE! : I was talking to my brother on SSB Sunday morning of May 18th in which we were enjoying S-9 armchair copy from Seattle to Northern Utah. When Mt St Helen blew up, it was like someone flipped a switch and we could no longer hear each other. The electromagnetic disturbance in the electrified ash cloud killed all RF and the noise level from the static crashes were horrendous. I didn't know what happened until I went outside and could see the ash cloud from my hilltop location in Renton, looking south past Mt Rainier.
