Professor retired Muhammad Zubair was born in Ludhiana. He left his birthplace in 1947 during the partition of India and Pakistan.
In his story, on the one hand, there is the pain of migration, on the other hand, we also see a continuous struggle
After the migration, his father resumed his job in the railways and Muhammad Zubair and his brothers started making/selling jalebis in Karachi, but despite the difficult conditions, they continued their studies and achieved success in life.

res Sir, In 1959(9yr),we alongwith our friends used to daily swim at Budha Dariya underneath Railway Bridge where your camp for going to Lahore was held.PARENTS scolded.Water in Budha Dariya was crystal clear and we could see our feet in water.Also used to collect small stones saying Lord Shiva image is engraved on the stones. Later started preparing our school exam by sitting under bridge and enjoy trains passing over through.Expansion of Ludhiana and dyeing units spoiled the beauty and turned into mud and foul smell throught.
My wife retired in 2010 from Islmia School.She used to tell how for hours the visitors from pakistan(ex students) weep seeing their class rooms.One MP also visited school.Very emotional scenes.We can write/talk only.
How painful the partition was for all Punjabies! regards to prof sab.

Both my grandparents were from Ludhiana area. Great-grandparents originally came from Balliawal village, then moved to Ludhiana area for better opportunities. Great-grandparents lived in Kucha Chah Tundi, in Wait Ganj (now known as Bhopal Gully named after a famous doctor of the area, thanks to some information provided by a local resident to my uncle). Family then moved to Arya Mohalla in Rawalpindi (near Liaqat Bagh, formerly Company Bagh. Gordan College nearby as well where my father and uncles studied). Thank you for Prof. Muhammad Zubair for providing a recorded account of the Partition period. Something for current generation and our descendants to learn from and understand where they are from. I hope one day to go to India and visit these places, just to say I went there and stood where my ancestors once stood.

My dadaji was Stn Master in the Railway. He remained there for 4 months after 47 before migrating. Our ancestral house Sukho tehsil Gujarkhan distt Rawalpindi.

My grandparents migrated from Ludhiana . My Dada jan Shiekh Abdul Ghafoor was a retired police officer and had settled in Ludhiana and he made his Kothi near Ms. Browns Hospital. They also just managed to come to Lahore with just the clothes on their backs.
Ya lots of Sikhs n Hindus also migrated like that....just managing to save their lives n honour!!🧕

I grew up in NEEM WALA CHOWK (1942 - 1956), Kucha Shadi Ram, the first Street from the chowk. My neighbors were Loving Muslims. I still remember the pain of their departure in 1947. The famous SUBHANI building is gone; now it is a hotel. Water Tank chowk is still there.
