      @@johnpark5212 That’s only if you graduate high school, which Faker didn’t. Deft most likely has to complete military service while Faker at most will have to do some civil service in Korea. Given Faker’s status and accomplishments there is a decent chance he will be exempt from any civil service, which I’m sure his management and T1’s management have been fighting for a while. Deft on the other hand likely won’t be exempt because of his accomplishments, although I’m not completely sure if the Asia games and other things he might be a part of will exempt him. People who’ve brought Gold medals back to Korea have been exempt before, so it’s not entirely out of the question.

    Legitimately THE best Worlds we have ever had. Granted I've only been watching/playing since fall of 2017 but every other Worlds has been the most predictable games ever and the most uninteresting BO5's. Virtually every BO5 was a 3-0 the past few years including the finals. This year Worlds has had the most insane underdog stories and most intense games I've experienced watching Worlds. I've been sitting on the edge of my seat (literally) watching these tense games and watching T1 defeat LPL's 1st seed to give Faker another chance at his 4th Worlds victory and then Deft and DRX being the first play-ins team in League history to make it all the way to the finals and doing it not through some lay-up easy matchup but the team that everyone expected to win Worlds - GenG, whom DRX has never beaten once this year.

  • @shinydragon69

    I'd like to note how in game 2 the decision to go lethality Varus by Ruler really impacted the state of the game. To me it seemed that the decision was made to be able to resist the Lux Caitlyn lane, which it did do to great success. The thing I saw though, is how going lethality Varus makes the DRX comp so much better. As soon as the Varus deals so much less damage to the Gragas, it becomes really easy for Gragas to take over neutral space. And when the Varus has so much less neutral space to work with, it becomes a lot harder for GENG to find the damage threshold necessary for Sylas and Graves to find picks and flanks onto the relatively squishy DRX teamcomp. So they end up having to fight this weird front to back fight with lethality Varus, where its easy for Caitlyn-Lux-Ahri to counter the Ornn engage by following Gragas into the neutral space and rooting Ornn before he can R2. I think if Ruler went on hit Varus, a lot of what you commented should happen for Sylas is facilitated because it becomes much harder for Gragas to take that neutral space in the teamfight. So even if lethality Varus resisted the Lux Cait lane, it ultimately made it much more difficult for GENG to play into the later stages of the game.

    • @1MoreStep1
      @1MoreStep1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well said.

    • @Gurpreet-sv5zg
      @Gurpreet-sv5zg ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point but I think what really made Lethality varus ineffective wasn't because of Gragas but because of GenG macro play. When you have an accelerated lethality varus, SEIGE. Poke the opposing team off neutral objectives. Group early to force mid prio and take over the jungle. What did GenG do? 1-3-1. The fact an Ahri is engaging on a varus is sad. The fact GenG rarely had time to poke DRX walking into drakes is sad. The reality was Deft could not play the game. He needed both beryl/lehends to come assist in farming thus reducing his xp/gold.
      th-cam.com/video/C31Y8ZyUb94/w-d-xo.html
      You can see here Caitlyn immediately is pushed out of lane. Caitlyn is losing so much gold/xp. Why is the team not playing for their win con.
      th-cam.com/video/C31Y8ZyUb94/w-d-xo.html
      No we get this. The lethality varus that wants to fight now. That wants to poke the opposing team off of objective has to watch his team 1-3-1. He has no support to push his lead. They don't even get to contest drake. This is why T1 will be a whole different beast.
      th-cam.com/video/C31Y8ZyUb94/w-d-xo.html
      How does a team that has tempo and mid lane push not have drake control? The on hit varus does not change the outcome because DRX priortized drake control while DRX played a comp that wanted to use tempo to create leads. Peanut had no pathing. GenG played too much like they were down 3k gold and needed to wait for items. When a caitlyn is this behind with your next highest damage carry being a kindred behind you lose. Apparently with GenG you do not.

    • @shinydragon69
      @shinydragon69 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Gurpreet-sv5zg When I look at the time stamps, I see a different story. I think that they were indeed trying to force this Varus lead but ended up trying to force it too hard and lost tempo other places and times on the map.
      First timestamp: Caitlyn is pushed under turret and Varus wants to kill. However, Ahri has prio and they don't see Kindred or Lux, and the last time they saw both they were topside. They dont want to take a possible 3v4 which they would certainly lose since Kindred has Ult and can save Deft in the dive if he is up there. Karma is playing in river so he can try to get vision on Lux/Ahri/Kind. So they can commit to the dive. Without enough information, they send Graves to do Krugs and decide to wait another wave to see if they see other DRX members show up and commit to the dive then. Ahri shows mid and they pull Graves to try to get a kill, but Caitlyn has already left. This leads into timestamp two, where because they tried to force the Varus lead so hard top, they lose prio on the drake and decide that it's gone before they can get there because they spent too much time top. They send Sylas top and commit Ornn deep bot to try and trade value across the map.
      Timestamp 3 is a similar situation. They are trying to force this lethality Varus mid to get a dive onto bot or a tower, and Karma gets caught forcing too hard, and is forced to burn flash shortly before drake spawns, as well as having no wards. Karma also stops recall for fear of Kindred and they have to give another drake, because they have no vision control with a lethality Varus.
      There clearly are a lot of things that made lethality Varus ineffective, but I don't necessarily think that it was for lack of GENG trying to play around him at all.

    • @Gurpreet-sv5zg
      @Gurpreet-sv5zg ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shinydragon69 They didn't force the varus lead. If you see a smart team (like T1) they would look to push out side waves and group mid to seige with Varus. They never did that. They always conceded. They went for 1-3-1 and gave up the early drakes. They never had a first setup except drake #3 and even then they lost their opportunity to poke them off.
      Varus does not want to kill. He wants to poke off caitlyn (like any Varus would do). The point of the first clip is to show Caitlyn is unable to farm safely thus meaning when Varus seige it will force Pyosik and likely an additional member of DRX to help wave clear mid. That's the point of the first clip. Caitlyn is unable to safely farm or thin the wave enough against Varus since she is receiving too much poke. That's what any lethality varus should do. What we are seeing is that GenG are still horrible in their setup and unable to play for Ruler tempo. No setup whatsoever because all of them are unable to realize they are not carries. Peanut is too busy power farming. Chovy is too busy csing. Doran playing Ornn is too busy split pushing. That is not the win con of this team.
      Try to rewind a bit on time stamp 2 to 20:20. That actually shows the bigger flaw. This was never DRX 2nd drake. Caitlyn is top side. GenG is stronger. Ruler has tempo and should be looking to take control of river or forcing a skirmish since Ruler will arrive to the fight first. How in the hell does GenG botch this? That's the point I am making. They never tried to play as if Ruler was the win con. They played as if Sylas needed farm. They played as if Doran needed xp for the passive. They played as if Peanut needed more farm. That's the difference from T1 and GenG. We saw against RNG game 2 that Jayce was forced to group with gumayusi and ended up conceding all CS to xayah (watch shakarez) for 3 waves. This is not a game where sylas needs to be fed. This is not a game where Ornn needs to upgrade his passive.
      Let me get this straight. You think GenG only gave up space because they feared Gragas tank? That varus is unable to effectively DPS thus making it difficult to move around and not chovy always being late to fights? Not GenG always giving DRX setup despite being up in gold? They literally had a team fight where both ornn and sylas TP' half way while drake was getting dps. Lethality varus made caitlyn/lux useless. A underfed cait is almost as bad as Jhin.

    I'm not actually that surprised by the result, i picked drx going into this match. I remember watching lck finals and the biggest problem gen g posed to t1 imo was the draft. There was just no way to ban/pick away enough champions from them to not leave game winning champions in multiple roles. That didn't seem to be true anymore. Gen g seemed to revert to an old school lck style, the style that was run over by lpl aggression for several years. T1 and drx are playing very proactively, even down right aggressively, and that's what's seemed to win championships lately.

      @@olsenfernandes3634 i find this argument so dumb. you're gonna act like chovy completely changed as a player in the span of a month? Chovy played like he always does, focuses on his lane and maximizing farm. Zeka played his style, carry champs who can roam. One was clearly more effective than the other.
      It's not a "different version" of Chovy, it's a matchup of different styles and different team macros and one was better.

    There's actually a possible argument you could maybe make that the scrim bubbles evidently (T1+DRX, GENG+JDG) showed which one was the better bubble, cos Karma suddenly appeared for both Geng and JDG and an apparent lack of Heimer ashe picks in their botlanes. This may have been the draft hole that left geng and jdg in a massive disadvantage in every draft

    I think for Game 4 you got the read backwards on what Gen G was looking to do. IMO, they left the Sylas up expecting Zeka to default to picking it and were planning on countering it with Ryze (which I believe was their ace for the matchup that was unfortunately spoiled by the previous series) while also giving themselves the ability to hide their bot lane for last pick and forcing DRX to blind an ADC. Renekton was picked up to give Doran comfort and the strong lane angle to prevent DRX from taking advantage of him again.

    • @Gurpreet-sv5zg
      @Gurpreet-sv5zg ปีที่แล้ว

      Eh after seeing Faker blind Ryze the pick is still good. It provides early lane tempo. It allows you to play for side lanes. It provides good skirmishing power (instant CC). The problem was GenG just do nothing proactive in the map for Ryze to be a good pick at all.

    I don't understand the Pyosik slander in game 2... Beryl flashes and walks in a straight line, misses a Q and is useless the rest of the fight, instead of just threatening Lehends to flash. If Karma doesn't flash, he's dead whether or not Lux Qs him, if Karma flashes with Lux Q not being on cooldown for no reason, he gets insta-rooted and dies.
    The only way Pyosik is in a position to not be able to finish off the kill is if Beryl completes fumbles the engage.

    I would say Pyosik on Game 2 deserves a bit better grade (maybe an A at least?), because I don't know if Jatt noticed that Pyosik was the winning factor on the Elder Fight, since he landed the Lamb Respite on top of the Elder on the exact frame(like 943 Health) that Peanut's Graves flashed in for the Auto-Smite Steal, which Peanut wasted because of it, and Kindred's R ALSO covered his teammates from incoming Karma/Varus poke damage. Had Pyosik failed to do this, Peanut could have stolen the Elder and ended the game for GENG since Chovy was pushing bottom and could have gotten easy access to the nexus despite a Tanky Kingen Gragas.

    I think you're overestimating BeryL. Zeka, Kingen, and Pyosik hard carried their bot lane. Bot lane needed 4 ADC and 1 support bans to go very slightly behind in the last game, they lost their lane in every other match, that is without much attention from mid/jungle, just straight up 2v2. It's not like Deft did anything great in teamfights, his most memorable moment from the series was literally KSing Zeka with Galeforce (it wasn't a "maybe" kill, ahri orb was a millisecond from getting the kill on its way back). The amount of skillshots missed by BeryL was overwhelming with his terrible flash miss on Lux as a prime example. It's really worrying before their match vs SKT, as Guma looked very strong.
