I hope Moana 2 won’t be a rip off of Thor: Ragnarok or Thor: Love and Thunder, I also hope Zootopia 2 won’t be a rip off of The Lego Movie, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Lion King, Spider-Man 2 or Sing 2 or The Super Mario Bros. Movie but instead be entirely original, agreed?

While Turbo/King Candy and Bing Bong (Aside from Bing Bong’s and his rocket wagon’s cameo as a toy in Inside Out 2 in Joy’s bedroom which Joy kept as a memento for Riley’s fallen imaginary friend after his death.) don’t return in Ralph Breaks the Internet and Inside Out 2 or are mentioned due to their deaths in the first Inside Out and Wreck-It-Ralph movies, Bellwether, Prince Hans and Te Ka/Te Fiti while they don’t return in Zootopia 2, Zootopia Plus, Frozen II and Moana 2 are mentioned a few times by the characters including Maui’s line, “I miss the lava monster” (Referring to Te Ka) and Gary the Snake the new villain for Zootopia 2’s line, “I should have known Bellwether wouldn’t have what it takes to finish you!” in the climaxes of Moana 2 and Zootopia 2 while the heroes and protagonists are facing off Matangi and Gary and the movie’s other villains and Bellwether, Prince Hans and Te Ka/Te Fifi make cameos in flashbacks or on posters. Prince Hans and Bellwether also make cameos in Frozen Fever and Zootopia: A Christmas in BunnyBurrow (A Christmas themed short film from the Zootopia franchise shown in cinemas alongside Mufasa: The Lion King due to promote Zootopia 2.) and Once Upon a Studio. If Prince Hans and Bellwether do return in Frozen III and Zootopia 2 alongside the Duke of Weselton, Duke Weaselton and Mayor Lionheart, Larry and Gary (Wolf) and Dr. Madge Badger, I will be surprised, won’t you?

Sequels exist in every film genre…..stop trying to create a false narrative. As Jack mentions, the reality is that animated films have not performed as well after Covid with a few exceptions. And who can blame them for giving the people what they want through sequels?

your being blinded by your Disney fandom. Turning Red, Strange World, Lightyear, Elemental, Luca are some of the company's lowest rated movies in history (not only Box Office which jack is talking about). before the past 5 years they had been producing nothing by hits, Frozen, Moana, Zootopia, Princess and the Frog, and Tangled...this is not a "false narrative" it's a fact that the quality of the movies and reviews have dropped which is why there going back to Sequels..which noticed the dropped them all at once to try to improve investors fears@@toddrye2209

I'm personally not opposed to sequels. If there are more stories to be told, and more potential to be tapped into, then I say go for it. And some of these movies I'm very much looking forward to.
That being said, Disney should still invest in original IP and stories, It's what got them started and they should still be willing to take risks with them in the hopes that they may fight their footing in the long run.

I hope variants for the Walt Disney Animation Studios logo with Polynesian music or a jungle and African instrument background or the regular Walt Disney Animation Studios logo will be used for Moana 2 and Zootopia 2.
Will Zootopia 2 and Moana 2 use the 100th anniversary Walt Disney Pictures logo or the regular Walt Disney Pictures logo after the Disney 100th anniversary celebration from 2022 to 2024 ends?

Imagine in Zootopia 2, or Moana 2, Sam or Moni reenacting the events of the first Zootopia movie and the first Moana movie and Zootopia+ the same way that Olaf did to the first two Frozen movies, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Tangled and Moana and The Lion King in Frozen II and Olaf Presents and Nick and Judy plus Gazelle and Clawhauser feel happy over this while Chief Bogo facepalms.

Here’s what I hope the future Disney movies will do:
Have Toy Story 5 reveal that Woody was owned by Andy’s father and grandfather before they passed Woody down to Andy before they died and Woody is a Davis family heirloom and that the reason for Andy’s strong attachment to Woody is because he is the last thing he had left of his dad before he died, and have it use the toy vs. tech concept and have Andy and Bonnie’s toys enter IPADs and the video games on them when Bonnie neglects them in favor of it.
I also wonder if Buzz Lightyear will appear as main protagonist and Woody will be demoted to duteragontist because Woody’s character arc ended in Toy Story 4, or did it?
Have Moana 2 reveal that Moana and Matangi used to be a romantic couple and boyfriend and girlfriend way before or after Maui stole the heart of Te Fiti but they broke up after Matangi turned evil and joined forces with Nalo to achieve world domintation, and have the cold open to Moana 2 be about the origin stories of Nalo and Matangi the main villains of Moana 2 with Maui in it before its all revealed to be a story told by Moni to his Pacific Islander tribe before beginning with Moana returning to Mountuni after a three-day wayfinder trip and reuniting with her younger sister, Simea.
I also hope that Moana will still appear as main protagonist and Maui will still appear as duteragontist, Pua and Moana’s parents will be upgraded to prominent roles in the sequel, Hei Hei will still appear as comic-relief and Matangi and Nalo will be awesome villains and the Kakamora and the spirit of Moana’s grandmother and the Ocean will play prominent roles in the sequel and the new main characters introduced like Moni and Keye will also be likable.Tamoata and Te Fiti (Aside from her Te Ka form being indirectly mentioned by Maui in the climax.) likely will not be returning in Moana 2, or will they?
The animation in Moana 2 will also be an upgrade from the animation from the first Moana movie just like in Inside Out 2 to the first Inside Out movie.
I hope the songs in the sequel like “We’re Back” and “Beyond” will also be great same for Matangi and Nalo’s villain songs.
I hope that Moana 2 will be a great movie and not a rip-off of Raya and the Last Dragon.

But Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps while only shown wearing their police uniforms and clothes from the first Zootopia movie like Nick’s orange Hawaiian button-up shirt and striped necktie and gray pants and Judy’s gray and blue shirt and purple pants, wear their new clothes like Nick’s pink Hawaiian button-up shirt, flower necktie, white gray pants and black belt and Judy’s blue shirt, purple jacket and gray pants and black belt for the rest of the movie, they are only seen wearing their summer hat and baseball cap in a few scenes even while they are in the Marshlands with Nibbles the Beaver, Nick and Judy are shown without their hats and wearing their sunglasses more often. Gazelle and Clawhauser meanwhile are shown with their original clothes at the start of the movie and with their new clothes for the rest of the movie. Gazelle even wears her sunglasses in a few scenes.

Louis the Bear, a character cut from The Rescuers will also hopefully make an appearance in Zootopia 2. Also Have Zootopia 2 be a jukebox musical or musical with Nick and Judy singing and performing, “You’re The One That I Want” from Grease as their love song or even sing and perform “Hold Me Closer” by Elton John and Brittneay Spears (A callback to Nick and Judy listening to Tiny Dancer by Elton John on the subway train earlier in the movie.) or even the original song, “The Fox and the Bunny” and have Gazelle and Clawhauser sing and perform “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift as their love song together or even the original song, “Sex and Obese” and have Fru Fru and her friends and family and Tru Tru while kidnapped by the main villains including Gary the Snake (Who will be a much better villain than Bellwether from the first Zootopia movie, mostly due to being evil throughout the entire movie as a classic villain and not appearing as a twist villain like Bellwether did.) and put to sleep with a sleeping gas and Fru Fru and Tru Tru and their friends and family have a surreal dream (Related to the Everything is Honey scene in Winnie the Pooh.) where they are in a world inhabited by Barbies and Kens and have Fru Fru and her husband sing and perform “Barbie World” by Aqua or the original song, “Fantasy World” together before reawakening from their dream in the clutches of Gary and his reptile syndicate.
It will also be the first Zootopia franchise film to be a musical or jukebox musical, not counting Gazelle singing “Try Everything” in the first Zootopia movie and Duke singing “Big Time” in Zootopia+ and Nick, Judy, Bellwether, Chief Bogo, Clawhauser and Gazelle singing “When You Wish Upon a Star” alongside all the other Disney characters in Once Upon a Studio.
I hope that Zootopia 2 will be a great movie and not a rip-off of Elemental, Finding Dory, Trolls: World Tour or Trolls: Band Together, The Bad Guys 2, Sing 2 or Dog Man or Kung Fu Panda 4.
Frozen III and Frozen IV: Have the film be a two-part film like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame and have a white unicorn who talks appear as a comic-relief character and main character in the films like Sisu in Raya and the Last Dragon and have Anna’s memories of Elsa’s ice powers from her childhood that were erased by Pabbie in the first Frozen movie restored in these films. Also have Anna and Kristoff have a human son Benjamin and have Elsa get a love interest too, or will she?
All the voice actors from the first Zootopia and Moana movies and first two Frozen movies will once again voice the main characters for the Zootopia, Moana and Frozen franchises in Zootopia 2, Moana 2 and Frozen III and Frozen IV, except for Finnick, he will be voiced by a new voice actor in Zootopia 2 because his original voice actor for the first Zootopia movie died in 2020.
The Christmas-themed short films from the Zootopia franchise, “Nick and Judy: Santa’s Helpers” or “Zootopia: A Christmas in BunnyBurrow” will even be shown in cinemas alongside Mufasa: The Lion King and the songs, “UnderNeath the Tree” “FairyTale of New York” and “Last Christmas” will play in it and be sung by Nick, Judy, Gazelle and Clawhauser.
Elio and Win or Lose and an untitled Disney movie for 2026 which I hope will be traditionally animated and the first traditionally animated feature film in the Disney Animated Canon since Winnie the Pooh in 2011: They are perfect just the way they are.
Which would you prefer? For Gazelle and Diane Floretine to be elected to become new mayor and assistant mayor of Zootopia after Lionheart and Bellwether’s arrests or have the giraffe politician and red ruffed lemur elected to become new mayor and assistant mayor instead?
Which would you also prefer? Should Nick and Judy become police detectives or new police chiefs at the ZPD replacing Chief Bogo or even leave the ZPD to open and run their own spy agency or detective agency called “Fox and Bunny Spies or Fox and Bunny Detective Agency” with them as its head detectives and spies and make the world a better place without working at the ZPD and expand their hobbies and interests by working as chefs and bakers at Aye-Aye Cake and Pizza, a pizzeria, Italian restaurant and cake and cupcake bakery baking and cooking the finest pizza, pasta, cake, cupcakes and doughnuts in the city?
Moana 2, Zootopia 2, Elio, Win or Lose, the untitled 2026 animated movie which will be the first traditionally animated feature film in the Disney Animated Canon since Winnie the Pooh in 2011 and Frozen III and Frozen IV will hopefully receive critical acclaim and commercial acclaim from fans and critics alike being praised for their animation, voice acting for the characters, plot, story and writing, subject matter, settings, influence on Pacific Islander culture, musical numbers and songs, humor and emotional depth and were deemed superior to the first Zootopia and Moana movies and first two Frozen movies and Zootopia+ and arguably one of the greatest Disney and Pixar movies and animated sequels of all time, beating Inside Out 2 and Dream Productions and a massive improvement over Ralph Breaks the Internet, the ultra-infamous sequel to Wreck-It-Ralph fixing all the mistakes that Ralph Breaks the Internet made.

I think there's another aspect here. If you've already paid for a Disney plus subscription and know that they'll be on there within a few months, why pay out for potentially expensive cinema/movie theatre visit once tickets, snacks and anything else is taken into account. Given the increasing price of Disney plus, cutting out trips to the cinema is one way to fund it.

I think Disney needs to wait a year before releasing movies on Disney plus. Put it in theaters, then at 6 months sell Blu rays, and then after a year release it on Disney plus. This would probably improve box office returns.

I hope that Moana 2 and Zootopia 2 will end on happy endings or even surprisingly happy endings like Frozen II and Inside Out 2 did and won’t end on bittersweet endings or downer endings like Monsters’ University did with Mike and Sulley being expelled from Monsters’ University for their actions like cheating in the scare games, interfering with the human world and for the mess they made in the Door Lab but with the note from the rest of Oozma Kappa that Hardscrabble they will be letting them into the scaring program as part of her deal with Mike and Ron is now engaged to Squishy’s mom and Hardscrabble encourages Mike and Sulley to keep surprising people inspiring the duo to work at Monsters’ Inc. without a college degree by working in several odd jobs and wages at the company to get to the scare floor where Sulley finally becomes a scarer while Mike gives up his dream of becoming a scarer to become a scarer assistant (That is until he becomes a comedian in Monsters’ Inc. and Monsters at Work fulfilling his dream of becoming a scarer after all.) and Ralph Breaks the Internet did with Vanellope choosing to stay in Slaughter Race in the internet abandoning Sugar Rush and going Turbo after all while Ralph returns to the internet without her but Ralph and Vanelope remain in touch, Ralph gets over his overly clinginess towards Vanelope, Shank adds Vanelope’s code to Slaughter Race so that she would regenerate if she died in the game and Once Upon a Studio reveals that Vanelope didn't completely abandon Sugar Rush and go Turbo after all as she now goes back and forth between being the characters in Sugar Rush in LitWak’s Arcade and Slaughter Race in the internet.

Toy Story 5 could show Sid Phillips unveiling the toys' living secret to the world after he learned a lesson as well as puppets and a toy factory, Frozen III could show Elsa returning to Arendelle on her own and learning to dance as Kristoff and Anna marry each other and Spring being celebrated throughout the fictional Norwegian kingdom and the entire fjord, Inside Out 2 could show the emotions entering the real world as well as Riley and Jordan becoming a couple since it's about to show new emotions and Riley's new home finally showing all the furniture due to its delayal in the first film, Zootopia 2 may show Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde on a new perspective and having kids and Moana 2 may afford new exotic paradises and outfits related to Hawaii for the ancient Polynesians. Time for Anna and Elsa to be included on the Disney Princess line with a modern render unless the Disney Queen line is made; they can be transferred there with Ariel so Melody can take her place and Amaya can acquire the line first.

Ten Things I hope Zootopia 2 will do: (And fix all the mistakes that Trolls: World Tour made until Trolls: Band Together saved the Trolls franchise.)
Have it continue from where the story left off from the first Zootopia movie and Zootopia+ instead of rehashing the plot from the first Zootopia movie. Also don’t have its plot be too similar to the plot of Sing 2, Dog Man or Despicable Me 4/The Lego Movie.
Have it be entirely original and stay away from cliches like the liar revealed cliche or plot-mandated friendship failure cliche, also don’t have Nick and Judy get into another plot-mandated friendship failure in Zootopia 2, like Poppy and Branch did in Trolls: World Tour, have them get into a plot-mandated friendship failure with Chief Bogo or a new main character like Gary the Snake introduced in the sequel instead.
Don’t have any of the main characters like Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps become flanderized beyond belief or enter character derailments in the sequel like Poppy was in Trolls: World Tour although she redeems herself in Trolls: Band Together and have them still have their original charmful personalities and focus on them going on more character development instead. Also have Nick and Judy appear wiser, more friendly, mentally mature and responsible in Zootopia 2 than they were in the first Zootopia movie thanks to their character arcs in the first Zootopia movie. Also have the voice actors and voice actresses who voiced the main characters in the first Zootopia movie reprise their roles as voice actors and actresses for the characters in the sequel, with the sole exception of Finnick, who will be recast in the sequel rsince his old voice actor died in 2020.
Have Nick Wilde appear as main protagonist in Zootopia 2 while Judy Hopps is demoted to deuteragonist, that way we can get to explore more of Nick’s character arc, personality and backstory in the sequel, because we have already explored enough of Judy’s in the first Zootopia movie. This was also done to reflect the original concept for the first Zootopia movie with Nick as the main protagonist and Judy as the deuteragonist. Also have Gazelle, Chief Bogo, Clawhauser, Finnick, Fru Fru, Mr. Big, Christine, Charisma, Mandy, Duke Weaselton, Brianca, Judy’s family and Nick’s mother Mrs. Wilde (Unless they still appear as minor characters in the sequel.) Flash, Priscilla, Sam and the Otterton family (Emmitt and Mrs. Otterton and the Otterton kids) upgraded to prominent roles in the sequel to make up for their minor roles in the first Zootopia movie and not so big roles in Zootopia+ and have Zootopia 2 introduce a lot of exciting and likable new main characters like Gary the Snake, Nibbles the Beaver, (Also have Nibbles serve as a mentor to Nick and Judy like Yess was to Wreck-It-Ralph in Ralph Breaks the Internet same for Shank towards Vanelope and Big Mama was to Tod same for Chief towards Copper in The Fox and the Hound.) Bob the walrus, Louis the Bear (A character cut from The Rescuers) and Gerald the California sea lion and an unnamed giraffe politician who I think was elected to become new mayor of Zootopia after Bellwether and Lionheart’s arrests. While Bellwether, Mayor Lionheart, Larry and Gary and Gideon Gray won’t be returning in Zootopia 2, they will be mentioned or indirectly mentioned or even appear in flashbacks or have the new villain for Zootopia 2 mention Bellwether while fighting Nick and Judy in the climax when he or she says, “I should have known Bellwether won’t have the smarts and wits to defeat you!” similar to Doctor Octopus’s line while fighting Spider-Man in the climax of Spider-Man 2, “I should have known Osborn wouldn’t have the spine to finish you!”
Have the new main villain for Zootopia 2 which mostly likely will be Gary the Snake or a new villain appear as a classic villain who is evil right from the start, no more twist villains or even have Gary use the Good All Along cliche (After Disney successfully used it for Bruno in Encanto.) and originally seemingly appear as a villain with evil intentions but turns out to be an anti-hero or neutral character who was just by breaking the law trying to convince the fellow mammals and birds of Zootopia and reptiles and amphibians to coexist in harmony again in a classic doing the wrong thing for the right reason kind of deal, and this plot twist and reveal will add depth to Nick and Judy’s character arcs in the sequel and have the secondary antagonist for Zootopia 2 appear as the true main villain and big bad of the movie. Also have the villain for Zootopia 2 appear as a classic villain and main character with a personality, motivations behind his or her goals whether they are anti-villain or power-hungry related and a tragic backstory, (But with no redemption arc and remains a villain and evil before his or her death and defeat at the end.), and actually have a villainous breakdown and fight and duel Nick and Judy onscreen before his or her defeat unlike how Bellwether in the first Zootopia movie appears as a generic doomsday villain/plot device and twist villain who reveals her villainy too late into the movie without revealing the motivations behind her goals, whether its anti-villainous or power-hungry related as all the movie’s conflict just came from Nick and Judy’s internal conflicts and character arcs and relationship which starts off as toxic at first due to their personality differences but evolves into a friendship as the story progresses with the external conflicts caused by Bellwether and Lionheart only existing as a side note.) Also have the villain’s villainy and evil behavior feel done from the heart and charmful and motivational unlike Bellwether’s which feels forced and not understandable aside from just coming off as being power-hungry.
Have the sequel reveal that Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps were promoted to the ranks of police segregant and police lieutenant working at the ZPD after the events of the first Zootopia movie, by Chief Bogo as thanks for helping solve the savage crisis and as an apology for misjudging them which means that Nick and Judy now get to monitor and control their own squads of police officers and choose their own police assignments instead of Bogo choosing them for them and while Nick is happy over his newfound position as police segregant because he not only now gets to be part of a pack but lead one as well, Judy feels worried about her newfound position as a police lieutenant (But hopefully won’t go to great lengths to prove that she will be a good police lieutenant in Zootopia 2 like Poppy did to prove that she will be a good queen in Trolls: World Tour and actually take Nick’s advice and cautions regarding the situation unlike Poppy did towards Branch.) as he only wanted to join the ZPD to make the world a better place not lead the police department so Nick helps Judy adjust to her newfound police leadership position, even when she tries to convince Bogo to reconsider switching her and Nick to police detective positions instead. Also have the sequel reveal that Nick and Judy plus Gazelle and Clawhauser are wearing their new clothes as undercover disguises while they go into Zootopia’s uncharted districts to find and track down Gary the Snake and show a funny scene were they pick out these undercover clothes which instantly makes them look unrecognizable in the process. Also have Nick and Judy drive the pig hot rod car as their vehicle instead of their police car as their means of transportation in the sequel. Also have us see the new districts in Zootopia not explored in the first Zootopia movie like the Marshlands, Mountain Terrain, Woodland District and Outback Island so that we could get to explore more of the city of Zootopia. Also have primates, pet animals, marine mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish and invertebrates appear in Zootopia 2 as main characters, etc. and reveal why they didn’t appear in the first Zootopia movie in the city’s main districts likely due to segregations towards them which Nick and Judy become determined to stop in the sequel.

Have Zootopia 2 include comedy and humor even funnier than the comedy and humor from the first Zootopia movie and Zootopia+ including more humor performed by Flash and Priscalla’s slowness, have Nick and Sam appear funnier and more Nickish and Samish than they were in the first Zootopia movie and Zootopia+ and Judy or Nick saying, “Damn” when they get too annoyed similar to Star-Lord dropping the F-Bomb in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 or include a Camela Harris (Kamala Halas) joke. Also have the main villain for Zootopia 2 appear as either a tragic villain, tyrant villain or laughably evil type villain. Also have Zootopia 2 appear darker and edgier than the first Zootopia movie and include more tragic and emotional moments than the first Zootopia movie. As well as a funny scene with Nick, Judy, Sam, Finnick, Flash, Priscilla, Gazelle, Clawhauser and Chief Bogo going nude swimming in a swimming pool or having a hula party together or attending the Mystic Spring Oasis as naked animals together. Also have Nick, Sam, Clawhauser, Flash, Priscilla and Finnick perform perfect comic relief in the sequel while Judy, Gazelle, Chief Bogo and the Otterton family and Fru Fru and her friends and family perform perfect drama. Also have the sequel confirm whether or not Lionheart was paroled from prison and reinstated as mayor of Zootopia with a spotted hyena being elected to become new assistant mayor of Zootopia after Bellwether’s arrest or the unnamed giraffe politician who appeared on the movie poster for Zootopia 2 and red ruffed lemur politician become elected to become new mayor and assistant mayor of Zootopia after Lionheart and Bellwether’s arrests or even have Gazelle and Diane Floretine, a pop music ballad singer become elected to become new mayor and assistant mayor of Zootopia after Bellwether and Lionheart’s arrests. (Also explaining why Bellwether and her goons tried to kidnap Gazelle in Zootopia: Hot Pursuit from DisneyLand, Shanghai so that Bellwether could kill Gazelle to become reinstated as mayor of Zootopia so that she could achieve her evil plans all over again, before Nick, Judy, Chief Bogo, Clawhauser and Flash manage to defeat Bellwether and her goons who were all re-imprisoned in prison and Bellwether is caught in an inflatable donut the same way that Duke Weaselton was defeated in the first Zootopia movie and Gazelle performs her concert for Zootopia Day with Gazelle wearing her long red skirt in the process to reflect her newfound position as mayor of Zootopia.)

Disney taught it's fans that they only have to wait a few months to see the movies on the Disney+ service they're paying each month for instead of the expense and hassle of going to the movies.
In the past Disney sequels were typically direct to video releases. Streaming is the modern equivalent of DTV. It's hard to say how many of these will actually get theatrical releases.

Original animations will soon be seen as an investment with an expected loss, with the hope that it gathers momentum as a franchise once it hits streaming platforms. This then allows sequels for the same franchise to become box office successes as people are invested in the characters. So I think the mindset of Disney/Universal will change and there will almost be an acceptance that originals will make a loss with the hope they see a more significant return in future sequels.

Remember when Eisner was given ALL that grief over "diluting the brand" with the endless "cash grab" direct to video sequels? Yeah...not a good look. It's a bandaid for an internal issue that's been simmering ever since John Lassiter was given the boot. Quantity over quality is a dangerous game, Disney, don't play it again.
(Seriously, Toy Story 3 & 4 were a satisfying conclusion to the franchise--and 4 was only "needed" because of the whole "What happened to Bo Peep?" mystery. At this point, it's like how every single Kirk-era Star Trek movie was marketed as "THE FINAL VOYAGE!!!" 😂)

For me I feel like The Walt Disney Company tried doing original stories with both Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios but within the last few years they just haven't been performing well because fans just aren't familiar with it because it's not part of an existing IP within their studios. Even if people want original movies. Elemental didn't do too well in it's first week and it was original and only did better after good word of mouth, that and Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar didn't advertise it enough. That's the reason why it's risky to put out original animated films. Then you have fans complaining about too many sequels, when they made the most about of money at the box office because it's part of a franchise. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what went wrong with these original films. Strange World from Walt Disney Animation Studios was a dud due to it's lack of advertising and it's boring plot. No villain at all and no songs in sight. It was also a big step for the studio as it was the first feature to incorporate an openly gay character, something Walt Disney Animation Studios had never done before. I for one was just bored by it. Then Lightyear did poor numbers in 2022 due to audience confusion on replacing Tim Allen for the voice of Buzz with Chris Evans. A lot of people didn't understand the film was about the astronaut and not the toy. It also featured the first same-sex kiss from buzz's friend which was a first for Pixar, incorporating ideas from the LGBTQ+ community. I personally enjoyed the film, but it just didn't do well at all and it went to Disney+ not long after it's theatrical run. Overall, as long as there is more story too tell, then I think sequels will keep coming from both studios because they make the most money compared to original films not part of an existing franchise. And I think The Walt Disney Company needs a few hits after several unfortunate blows in 2023 with Walt Disney Pictures, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios and Marvel Studios not performing too well for their films. I'm still waiting on Incredibles 3. It's been 6 years and no news on it. I hope it's not 2032 before we get that movie. Sequels might be what this company needs to bring in better box office performance.

To me I have no problem with sequels, because I grew up with and loved watching them growing up. But to me the saddest part of it all is that Kid’s today don’t have that “magic” like we had. They don’t have many Disney princes and princess they imagine themselves as being besides Moana and Frozen characters. I just feel they are losing the essence of what Disney is, the nostalgia that we feel when entering the parks or re-watching shows and seeing those characters again. To me it just feels like a cash grab and an abuse of power. They are over producing movies instead of just slowing down, making one good solid movie, and reinvesting the money into the parks with the IP they create.

I really want Zootopia to excel and succeed as one of the best things Disney has ever made. It’ll be awfully difficult with Toy Story 5 and Frozen 3 releasing the year after but as a still fresh franchise, Zootopia has limitless potential in becoming a franchise that spans generations with stories besides the ones with Nick and Judy but also side characters, new characters and even places outside the city of Zootopia.
But the question is, will Disney realize that kind of potential? Probably not.

I was cautiously optimistic about this attraction myself, but I ended up loving it because of how interactive it was giving vibes of old Epcot with jumping water and interactive play. This unfortunately show’s Disney is devoid of creativity……they have damaged their brand with their unhinged desire to shove “a not so secret agenda” down customers throats at the expense of good storytelling and writing; then chastise the customer’s when they rejected that message…..the formula for success is simple…cater to your customers and give them high quality stories with good value.

If there's no new art style for zootopia 2(a cash grab), I won't watch it. Inside out 2 is the only sequel that I will watch. I'm done with modern disney. Creating an orignial story with 2.5d animation like puss in boot the last wish and the short movie paperman or a full 2d, something inspiring and no messaging(no bad representation) will save disney, not 3d sequels. I like other animated movies without walt disney animation studios in 2.5d likePuss in boots the last wish, spiderverse(both), and others, because they are original with a new art style(2.5d). They are not generic and boring like disney for the characters, stories, musics and for the animation style.

Apart from the "it will appear on disney+" some of the biggest factors holding back original IP are most likely.....is the poster/trailing intriguing, is the concept intriguing, does the potential audience grasp the idea.....Moana (princess) won where Wish failed (Wish looked a bit too much like Tangled without the Braid styling where Moana had a very fresh setting never done before by Disney). Turning Red and Elio which were 2 excellent movies had some trouble communicating their concept on top of being dumped straightaway on Disney+. For my book those 2 were some of the best recent offerings. Zootopia did an excellent job of getting it's concept across and won all across the board, where Strange World left things maybe somewhat too vague? Elementals despite being quite good, at first glance looked like PIXAR doing it's Pixar standard Toys/planes/Cars/Emotions/Fish/Bugs/ploy once too many - double since the Elements were stand-ins for a certain set of Emotions as well. Encanto intrigued enough with a fresh setting and a musical hook to draw in the crowds and become a phenomenon. Raya was still way better than it's box office faith, but did come too soon on the heels of the live action Mulan i think. More girl action from Asia.
If you taken an IP that's already popular, you get a certain inbuilt safe part of the audience......but in the end (even with Marvel) fatigues will set in. I guess they can go the whole round with four seasons in Frozen....but uhm better come up with some real character development for them all

I think Toy Story 5 and Frozen 3 will be the two top movies of success. Because Toy Story is very much orientated and aimed at boys while it is also made for girls from a slight perspective with Barbbie and Woodies love cowboy girl. However, Frozen 3 is made for girls mostly indefinitely while also slightly aiming at boys. With both these movies being released two separate years or two diffirent times of the year I can see them succeeding in terms of pulling both male and female kid audience and making 1 billion at the box office. This will then secure and up the finances of the Walt Disney Company.

I can’t speak for all of Hollywood, but I can speak for Disney, and I’m a lifelong Disney fan… but I’m a Walt fan, I’m a fan of the imagineers, of the artists, of the people who make Disney, Disney.
I believe Disney has lost their way, mainly in part because you have people running the company who have different goals/values that Walt Disney and his brother had when they started the company. It was all about family, and having pride in their work. Give the people all that you can give them and they’ll come back for more, was Walt’s philosophy….
That’s very different from current Disney, where they budget cut everything and they make it abundantly clear, it’s all about the bottom line with them. I will answer with a big, fat, meaty, juicy...maybe? The truth of the matter is that box office tendencies have changed drastically thanks to the pandemic to the point where one minute a big legacy IP film breaks records while another just flat out bombs. The fact that in 2023 we had so many tent pole releases, perhaps the biggest in years, that just flopped shows that audience expectations are all over the place.
The main reason Barbie and Oppenheimer were big hits because of the unintentional synergy created by the Internet through memes, thus the audience made it into a big event that everyone had to watch.
So these sequels can either bring audiences back if they are treated like big, don't miss events, or again flop and make people say "I'll wait till it hits streaming". That's a reality many movies are facing now, especially animated films.

Imagine a Walt Disney Animation Studios, or Pixar or DreamWorks Animation or Illumination movie made sometime in the near future focusing on some protagonists who are Mary Sues and Gary Stus (Ones written right because they still have personalities and irrational, quirky and eccentric behaviors.) who have a problem-free philosophy and are against personality flaws like strictness, sternness, selfishness and self-centeredness, mean-spirited torment, unfriendliness and lack of sympathy, anxiety and fear, arrogance, stubbornness and anger and irrationality caused by childhood traumas (And are also against those flaws also to avoid recalling that trauma.) of the abuse they received from their parents for their personalities or caused by their parents’ own selfish and strict behavior and they act as control freaks ensuring that nobody experiences problems and that they are perfect and not strict, stern, selfish and self-centered, mean-spirited, arrogant, stubborn and angry and irrational and act overpowered but in the process go through some character development and character arcs where they learn to accept the fact that we all experience problems in life both internal conflicts and external conflicts caused by villains or something else and have our personality flaws like the aforementioned ones but we all have the right to have those flaws and experience those problems and conflicts in life because nobody needs to be perfect and we can be allowed to have our flaws because that is what makes us us, as people or going through character development or redemption arcs or resolve external conflicts or internal conflicts is also all problems we have to overcome in life whether we like it or not and in the process learn to overcome their childhood traumas of the abuse they received from their estranged parents and accept the things that cause them to recall that trauma and realize that no everybody needs to be Mary Sues or Gary Stus as we can be whatever character they want whether those protagontists approve of it or not similar to Joy’s character development and character arc in the first Inside Out movie and Anxiety’s in the 2024 sequel where Joy learns that Riley doesn’t always have to be happy but Sadness, Fear, Anger and Disgust have the right to make her happy, sad, fearful and disgusted and angry every once in a while too and Anxiety where she learns Riley doesn't always have to act anxious for her sake but has the right to feel happiness or other emotions every once in a while too.
Or it could have it focus on some heroes who appear as Mary Sues and Gary Sues and rational wisecrackers but are still quirky and have their own charmful personalities even with tragic backstories over them having personality flaws including some of the the ones mentioned above, irrational behavior and internal conflicts in the past but they overcome them after seeing how much damage it caused to their lives and relationships with their friends and families and assumed that only villains and anti-heroes should be allowed to be Mary Sues and Gary Stus and all heroes should be perfect and rational and is okay with the fact that heroes experience problems, external conflicts and difficulties in life, being treated as outcasts and make unwise mistakes they all have to fix but is against the fact that heroes have personality flaws, anti-heroism, internal conflicts and irrational behavior espically if these flaws are caused by the external conflicts and problems and unwise mistakes they make happening in life and they should experience them responsbility and in a mature why instead letting them hold them back, and all heroes should no personality flaws altogether like the ones mentioned in the beginning, heroic BSoD or internal conflicts believing that they serve as obstacles to the heroes’ goals and responsibilities and obligations, and are against personality flaws, irrational behavior and internal conflicts in heroes and act as control freaks to ensure they don’t get them at all costs but go on some serious character development or a character arc where they learn to accept the fact that heroes can have these personality flaws, irrational behavior and internal conflicts and act as anti-heroes and let them be themselves as having personality flaws is what makes us quirky and the important characters we are and we don’t just face external conflicts but also internal conflicts and not see personality flaws, irrational behavior and heroic BSoD and internal conflicts as in obstacle in heroes towards their responsibilities, obligations and duties that qualifies them as anti-heroes and villains but rather as secondary challenges they all have to face in life aside from accidentally unwise mistakes and problems we cause we need to fix, external conflicts caused by villains and vice versa. Good idea huh?

Poor communication skills, and mentally immature and childish behavior is also another personality flaw those heroes are against but learn to accept through character development and the fact that we also need to go through character developments and internal conflicts to overcome our flaws in life while resolving external conflicts and problems/challenges caused by villains and vice versa and as it can make our personalities more interesting and cause us to develop into more wiser better characters in the process.

I personally have very little opinion about how someone chooses to live their life as it is their choice. But as a father, I do not appreciate anyone trying to take the parent away from me and say that they know what’s best for my son. And Disney has done that multiple times in the last three years, in my opinion, that is why they continue to fail, and until they fix that they will get worse instead of better.

The only way to have a successful franchise is to have a successful original. You obviously can’t only produce sequels. Disney has to figure out how to restore that magic on a consistent basis. And it’s not just about making good movies. It’s about movie distribution and consumption today. They sacrificed box office dollars for streaming dollars. If you consider your Disney+ subscription a sunk cost, you can see any Disney release for free as long as you wait a few months. Disney has to address that change in consumer behavior they helped bring about.

It's not about sequels vs originals. It's about good movies vs bad movies. Customers only say they want sequels because they can't come up with a good movie on their own so they say they want more of the good movies they have already seen, aka sequels. This is where listening to the customer isn't always a literal thing, you just notice they want to see good movies and not a fifth Toy Story film. Now, sometimes sequels are good. That is almost always because it was planned to be a series from the get go but there are always exceptions. But more sequels will not make more success. Disney is failing at the box office not because they made 2 original films, but because their movies have gotten worse. Customers are recognizing that sequels aren't what they want and Disney has gotten lazy and made bad movies because their old movies were doing the marketing for their new ones. That is wearing off. Of course there are some more complexities than that, the biggest one being that kids will watch anything on repeat, so Disney can still have success with crappy movies as long as the parent's take their kids to see the movie once and have Disney plus, but that is low and not what Disney is about. Disney made family movies, not kid movies. Everyone could enjoy them. They have a studio for lazy mindless movies and that is called Disney Toons. I hope they get back to making good movies. Last one I enjoyed from Walt Disney Animation Studios was Moana and from Pixar it was Soul.

Given what's been going on since 2016 it doesn't surprise me that a Disney Princess testing the boundaries has been so popular

Sequels have never done better than the original with the exception of a handful of films.
People are tired of the repurposed and sequels of movies not to mention live action movies. Disney had lost creativity in the entire company. It’s not just the race baiting and wokeness, but they continue to spit out the same products that people do not want and then blame COVID, fans and everything else under the Sun. The movie industry is doing the same things and that’s why films are doing so badly in general.
They’ve lost sight of what people want and they have no idea how to fix it.

These Anoucments & new sequels spells disater & Desperation for Disney!!! I don't think People gave Wish(example) a chance because of the Movie Prices,Disney+,etc. If they really want audiences back into the theater they need to do these sequels based on popular IPs.

Disney need to understand that most people rather watch new movies at home on their big 4K or 8k tvs , that’s one of the reason why Disney isn’t hitting big at the box office
