1:50. that subtle, look of surprise. the moment she realizes the game has changed-- that the man she must betray has noble intentions and a good heart. fine, understated acting from charlotte rampling.

James Mason and Charlotte Rampling were great in this movie as well. A well-done movie all around.

God, I love the way this scene is lit and photographed. The smoke, the class ring, his blue eyes.... 👌

Franks says: maybe I can do something right. Then Laura feels uncomfortable knowing she's doing something wrong, trying to take away that chance at justice, and she represents the corruption that jurors are afraid of.

Newman was great, but his character is quite straightforward: the crusader looking for justice and personal redemption. Charlotte Rampling's performance was much more fascinating. She wants to believe in him, and she wants to believe in justice, but the more she does, the more pain she feels, because she knows she has to betray him. This movie was a masterpiece.

      Wrong.
she doesn't want to or not want to believe in him.
      Large case.
she was a paid operative doing a chore.
      rampling played it great.
      All did.

Rampage Clover I love him to death, but I would have given Dustin Hoffman the Oscar for “Tootsie” first. Newman would be my second choice. And to be fair, Kingsley was no slouch in “Gandhi” either.

you know it really helps when making a movie you employ actors with legendary before their names , i.e. PAUL NEWMAN and JAMES MASON .
