The Chevrolet Camaro has a great history, but the 1969 ZL1 Camaro has an even better one.
The Camaro ZL1 was revived by Chevrolet in 2012, and there's even a 2021 model, but these new Camaro ZL1s aren't the most popular or sought-after Chevy Camaro ZL1s. That honor goes to the very dangerous, powerful, and untamed 1969 ZL1 Camaro.
Most Europeans were shocked when the 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE was banned on the continent on safety grounds, but the truth is - the 1969 Camaro ZL1 would be banned worldwide if it were produced today. It was raw, with no safety features, and a large block engine under the hood that General Motors had deemed illegal for Chevrolet to use in production automobiles.
