I just ordered the MSB2 Mojavi Saddlebags based on your recommendation. Would you mind making a short video detailing your saddlebag load out and perhaps discuss what equipment goes on the bike as opposed to what you keep in your pack? Thanks mate, -Ry
That day was the exception. We genuinely feel that snowbiking is WAY less physically draining that sledding. We did a lot of sledding until we got our snowbikes. If you are happy with sledding, that is great! When you get older and less full of juice, snowbiking may be just what you are looking for. :) Happy sledding!
Hello Jake. I understand the reservation. We held on to our RMK 800s until we got our snowbikes, and were able to take them out for a good thrashing. We were not disappointed! Both games are a pile of fun! For us, we had to choose one. :)
Would like to get a little 250 to do some on and off-road exploring. Probably Yamaha WR 250r. Would this bike be ok as a snow bike, or underpowered? Looking for something that is light weight that can also be used on roads during the non-winter months.
You have found the classic problem. That bike is too small for a snowbike. The best snowbikes are going to be a real handful in the summer. When we used to run one bike for summer and winter we went with an FE 501S which is a big bike, but still pretty ridable on the trails.
This was a few years ago and I still get stuck a lot, even though my riding has progressed quite a bit. I just keep pushing my limits and that of the equipment. Now, in this case, it was not so great because I was really far away from my riding buddies, outside of radio contact, and in unknown terrain. The best thing that I could do was to stay calm and me methodical. The best way for me to stay calm and be methodical was to slow down and film it. Now this is our first video over 100k views. Cool!

What gear are you typically riding in? I ask because the bike sounds laboured, like you should be down a gear? I ride dirt bike casually, but not snow so forgive my ignorance lol😂
Building heat in the engine. We want it to be 180 - 220 degrees to be super happy, and offering up full power. The radiators are designed to keep bikes cool in much warmer conditions, and without snow being everywhere1 :P
@@arvasnow3962 Sometimes. When the pow is deep and fluffy, sometimes we keep it shut, or 1/2 open. We also have heated bars (a luxury item) but they also play a role in cooling the engine down a bit, and giving us coolant temperature feedback through out hands. I have been riding along thinking "Hey, my hands are on fire right now" only to look down and see I am pushing 250 degrees! All I can preach these days is that temperature management for different conditions is the #1 performance improvement Kung Fu to master! Is this helpful?
Let's just put in this way. I know lots of people who used to snowmobile, and I don't know anybody who used to snowbike! With that said, sleds would be more fun it it was mostly high speed trail riding. And, there are people who just want max power and hill climbing. Two different games. Got another guy hooked on snowbiking today. Video will go live tomorrow. :)
Definitely an old man's game compared to snowmobiling. These guys are making it look much more difficult than it actually is. Granted it appears snow conditions don't seem optimal for bikes.
@@montanamtnmoto7927 Hey Ted, we don't suck that bad! The snow was not set-up. It was just gong show snow conditions. I'll throw down "Some Moves" for ya tomorrow. :)
Not even. Snowhawks were still basically just as wide as a sled, just with one ski. Not even the same. And, most of the snowhawks weren't even 800's, so they were also under powered for how heavy they were.
Where did you get the coolant hose shut off? Does your store sell them? I could not locate them and didn’t see this answer already in the comments. Thanks and disregard all the comments about sleds ruling snowbikes. I ride both and they are completely different animals as you guys clearly already know. My favorite terrain is heavy trees on a steep side hill where I rarely would take a sled. Happy riding fellas, might have to head north to get some deep snow if it doesn’t start soon down here in the states. ***Update*** Disregard question above, located the shut off valve and a bunch of other great Snowbike stuff at rmcsnowbikes.ca
The radiator shut off valve should be on The Snowbike Shop website. If not you can email me and I will look into it. VernonSnowMX@gmail.com. I am with you on the riding terrain choices. Deluxe!
Dunno much about the speed. Most of the time it is "Fast Enough" for the terrain and visibility. With that said, now that I am more experienced as a rider, I find quite a few times where 50% to 100% more power would be more fun! At first, I felt snowbikes had enough power. Now, when I am carving more aggressively, I could use some more. Climbing power is another slight limitation at times, however, the awesome side-hilling "Easy Fun" tends to make up for that though. It's mostly just a different, yet super fun game. I rarely miss my sled. Notice that I did not say that I "Never Miss It". Cheers!
I MUCH prefer the low frequency sound of the 4stroke thumpers vs the 2stroke sleds. The sleds sound like being stuck in the dentist's office or using a router with and aggressive cut bit.
Yeah I know. I guess when the pandemic started, you didn’t upload. So I assumed maybe they had closed the parks or something. At first here, they were Turing people away/arresting them for trying to snowmobile.
Hi Zach. Great question. The bikes can be cranky to start in the AM, especially if not charging the night before (which we remember to do most nights). When the don't have a lot of juice in the battery, we use a Micro-Start to boost them. Once the bikes have a little heat in them, no troubles! If it has been really cold overnight, we have a trailer heater that gets fired up in the early AM before we leave so things warm up a bit. :)
@@krishampton7060 That's the one! Chad usually has a mittful of bikes available for rent. I think he takes you out and shows you some killer terrain that matches your interests and experience level.
Understanding that opinions are like a$$holes and everyone has one, here is my opinion on timbersled/snowbikes. I ride both moto and boondock at a professional level. I personally own sleds and my best buddy has a timbersled setup. Ive been able to put some time on his bike and honestly its as boring as riding a jetski around a flat lake. It takes almost no skill to traverse steep terrain and there is no way you can pull that ski up to loft it over obstacles like in moto. He also now wants to sell the bike and get a sled. However I do believe that for certain people the bike is a good fit as they can get to places where they could not while on a sled. For very tight terrain, like the majority of michigans upper peninsula, the bike can get to spots with minimal effort and not have to be running over sapplings like the sleds. I think bikes are cool, but the sled is much more fun! On a sidenote, if you have a racing circut for snowbike in your state I'd get a kit without hesitation. Laying over in corners with a timersled is an absolute blast!!
Interesting note from a 1%-er. Yes, at the 1% professional level I bet sleds are way more lively. They take a lot more skill and they have piles more power, which is fun. Now, for the 99% of us who are not professional-cailibre on sleds, snowbiking is a great way to get out to places that we would likely not otherwise experience. Also, as we each age, snowbiking becomes much more friendly and a great sport that the average person could rip well into their 60s, as we have seen! It's not a lame man's sport, but is a lot more approachable than sledding, albeit not so wallet-friendly. Personally, when I see a guy on a sled riding next to me who is ripping it up, my hat is off to them. Nice work! They are usually 20 years younger than me, and have not hit as many trees as me, but that is a tangential story. I appreciate you sharing your opinion! I have learned that my opinions are always "at a point in time". I have completely flip-flopped on many things in my life that I once stood firmly against. Don't get me started! Happy shredding!
Vernon Snow MX Couldn’t agree with you more about the age! I’m still in my 20s and don’t feel the aches and pains yet. I definitely feel this would be a great suit for me when the day comes that pulling around a 500lb sled is just to much. I would love to be able to get my father on a timber sled/snowbike so we could go out and enjoy the backcountry together again. Just like you said, snowbikes are a great way to get out and explore! Enjoyed watching your content and discussing the topic with you! Keep on ripping it up brotha!
Why did you seem to imply it would be better if the bike ran at 180-200 degrees? Wouldn’t that be bad? I might be old school, just think cooler is better, no?
The bike needs to get up to proper operating temperature to get into the power, and this is the sweet spot. It's like warming up your car before you go out to stomp on it. :)
@@scottchisholm5603 I understand the warm-up, I just didn't think it needed to be that hot. For comparisons, my sled (and most) run at 125-130 degrees most of the time. Go over 150 and it starts to run like shit. I guess maybe because it's 2 stroke?
I'm not sure if I want to snowbike, can I tell you why? It seems like you guys are sitting 90% of the time. Even a guy like Reagan Sieg! Is that true? On my sled (and dirt bike) I stand 90% of the time. Does the ski dig in or something? Why all the seat time?? In my head watching you guys I'm like "get up and ride the thing, carve some turns!" Absolutely no offence implied, I have never been on one. I don't like the seat, except for maybe 3 seconds in a turn on a motocross track

Deluxe!
Looking for a Yeti 129FR kit for my 22 CRF450RX. Who sells them?
how much kw need one bike to have so he can pull easy one timberland sled ? Anyone? will appreciate answer
Pick lines much?? Seems like the riding is in slow motion but I've heard the snowbikes are slow. what speed are you riding at 20-30 mph?
@@4schitzangiggles You are going to the wrong dentist....
@@mikethompson2007 is there ever a right dentist? I just hate the high-pitched whine of a wrapped out 2stroke
Some of that looks awesome and some of it looks absolutely the shits.
Still alive? Haven’t seen anything from you for a while!!
Just waiting for snow. It's kinda rocky out there over the summers. :P
Yeah I know. I guess when the pandemic started, you didn’t upload. So I assumed maybe they had closed the parks or something. At first here, they were Turing people away/arresting them for trying to snowmobile.
How good does the bike start in the cold? You never showed starting cold at the truck.
Anyone run a Rekluse? I have one on my KX450, thinking about a Snowbike kit for it
We really don't feel the need. Added expense. Added things to mess up. None of the benefits translate for us.
What was he using to pull the ski in that first stuck? And where do you get them?
Hello Nate! We use rock climbing gear. They are called sewn loops. Super compact. Check out your local shop for different lengths. They are BOMBER!
Buddy lost something at 6:19 🧐
hi you guys,,, just wondering,, do you need to shift on those snowbike ? I will like to equipe my Yamaha xt 250.. do you think its worth it ?
I don't think your Yammi will have enough power to make the track kit go. Sorry!
6:18 think you lost something blue jacket
where is this? looks like an awesome place.
All of our filming is around Vernon, B.C. We have lots of areas like this. BOMBER!
actually no, Im not sure I wanna now. thats a lot of work. supposed to pick up a new bike in two days and Im scratching my head!
I have been there man that’s how the first ride usually goes but trust me once you get the hang of it you’ll be very glad you started!!
Are you sure you want to snowbike….in the trees? Fixed it for ya!
What cc and horsepower are these running? Thx.
He dropped something 6:17 😊
Yes, we saw that. We think it is just the straps flopping around.
@@VernonSnowMX Looks like gloves or a hat or something. Anyways, really nice vid and good enthusiasm 😁✌
@@0sony095 Was a glove for sure,,,, good eye !
How hard is it on your bikes I wanna do it to my 450 but I'm scared its gonna be hard on it
Being a snow bike is a hard life for a dirt bike.
Is it possible to rent adapted bikes like this in Canada ??
Yes, Look up Innerspace Motorsports. They do this. :)
@@DirtChimps cheers for the recommendation though it seems to come up with innerspace water sports and it has a snow division, is this the one ?? 🤔
@@krishampton7060 That's the one! Chad usually has a mittful of bikes available for rent. I think he takes you out and shows you some killer terrain that matches your interests and experience level.
👍👍
Hey get out of the tight trees- have more fun
Yeah, they got a bit tight on us due to navigational errors! We have since updated our personal maps. :)
Canadia ehhhh 😂
Snow mobiles rip way more than snow bikes
and thats why it says do u really want to do this..cool tho
What gps are you using
Garmin 610. We have mixed feelings about it.

Couldn’t agree with you more about the age! Keep on ripping it up brotha!
is this a pointing video or a riding video
What are you trying to ask?
You need a shovel so your hands don’t get wet
@@rochboulanger6565 I think you are correct, sir!
Your from ct?
Dumb question i saw the plate fast and it looked like it.
We from BC!
Buddy lost his gloves
He lost his favourite buff from Cardo Systems. Bummer!
Electric
Nosiest thing I ever heard!
