For me Guts, Eren and Johnny Joestar are my favorite protagonists. Luffy, Goku and Light aren't the best protagonists but they are great in their own unique way.
Crazy her only argument against Lelouch, was his power accidentally activating and she's even calling it a mistake, but keeps blaming him like he did it on purpose. Literally had nothing else to say
They did say she has strong hate for code geass though, I think the list would have been better if she didn’t hate it that much. Or just didn’t watch it in general.
Killing character doesnt make you bad character or a bad protagonist. That's why we even have best Villans list. I can argue how Lelouch is probably the top 3 best written character in that entire list.
Can't believe they had lelouch that low. HIm making one mistake which could not have been calculated for in the slightest, moved him around 7 slots below where he shoulda been smh
Bro that's what I'm saying. It's frustrating seeing one of the best protagonists, no characters in anime, and one of your favourite characters getting disrespected like that and you not having the power to do anything
Saying luffy is only good cause of the cast around him is crazy when luffy went 100 episodes with no straw hats, and that’s the best streak of episodes of the show
Except he was the weakest part of that very arc. Luffy is just worse Goku as character. And that's fine. OP has never been about one character (until recently when he turns out to be chosen one bs).
@@omegaeraser except he wasn't the weakest one, he tied the story together, genuinely made us feel something in our hearts, impel down and marineford aren't amazing only because of everything else, they are amazing because of the struggle Luffy went through and the growth as a character he had to go through because of it. Let alone, "the chosen one bs" is fcking awesome, and he's always been the chosen one, from the start he was the most charismatic person around who changed the world by just acting, mihawk himself practically said that Luffy was built different, let alone from the moment he got conquerors haki he was a chosen one, conquerors haki literally belongs to the ones who are meant to be kings. Also, his middle initial is D. which has always meant something special in the world of one piece. So he's not just now the chosen one, he always has been. Also, he's not Goku but worse, he's Goku but better, it doesn't matter if Goku impacted the universe or something, that his verse, luffys verse is on a much smaller scale, so you can't really compare that, Luffy has so much more charisma and is a much more in depth version of Goku and that's that.
@@omegaeraser You are not bout to say Luffy is just worse Goku. Goku for the most part wasn't even that good of a protagonist. If we don't talk about Super (which would be a good decision based on what it did to Goku), and talk about OG dragon ball and z he wasn't even that good in it either. In OG dragon ball is wasn't even mainly about Goku, it was about the adventure and the people he met along the way, it wasn't a fully fledged fighting anime/manga that we saw in z or super. And if we still talk about Goku in OG, he wasn't even that good of a protagonist in the show. He was super oblivious and naive, which makes sense as he was a child but just because he was a child and acted like it doesn't mean that he was a good protagonist. And in Z, again he was not that good of a protagonist, yes he was a better character in z than in OG but there were better characters in the show at most times, the only time he could've been seen as the best character was during the sayian saga. During the Namek saga it was arguably Piccolo, during the android saga it was obviously Gohan, and during the Buu saga it was definitely Vegeta. In most cases he was overshadowed as a character which damaged his showing as the protagonist. So you can't say that Luffy is just worse Goku. And if you want to talk about chosen one bs then you can look at the same guy who you are comparing Luffy to. Goku always gets stronger because of Training and he always breaks his limits. And when I mean always I mean ALWAYS. So much that if there is a problem that the Z fighters have to deal with its just train in the hyperbolic Time chamber or train with Beerus and Whis and get super sayian bajillion to the power of 400. His character was sucked out of most of his features that made him relatable like needing to lose someone extremely close to him to gain this power that was already broken with a multiplier of x50. And now it's out of control. Now talking about Luffy, he is an amazing character because of his flaws. What he said during the arlong arc fits best with his character. "I can't use sword, I can't navigate, I can't cook, I can't tell lies. But I can beat you". It's him saying that he has all these flaws and imperfections that he needs to rely on other people to help him, but when those other people need saving he's always there. And those imperfections are tested and abused time and time again, when he crashes Merry into an iceberg, when his ignorance gets Camie taken by the slave traders, when Ace dies, and so much more. But the fact that these happen create a compelling development of Luffy and his character. He wants to become stronger like Goku, but not for fighting others like the mindset that Goku has slipped into but protecting his friends so he doesn't have to lose them again. Even in Water 7 he start taking more of a leadership role because he learned that the sea wasn't some playground anymore and that he needed to take things more seriously or else they could lose each other. We see a break again in this responsible personality that Luffy needs to be during Punk Hazard where Zoro warns Luffy that they are in the New World now. Also saying that Luffy was the weakest part of that very arc is literally true, he was supposed to be weak to bring him down even further than he already was. Because of this weakness for most of the battle during Marineford he was a dead weight and could not help. Only through countless people in the Whitebeard pirates helping him did he save ace. When he finally did that, it was his own fault that ace died. He then needs to be carried out as he is in a sense of despair that so many people can't even imagine (and people who don't realize how much he was suffering really baffle me). And only because he remembers his cremates does he come back from this trauma, overcoming it and moving on. All of these faults make him an amazing character but also does his positives. He has unbridled charisma and electricity in him that most other characters can only dream of. Mihawk had pointed this out during Marineford and that he could bring any group of individuals together, even a group of convicts from the worst prison in One Piece. His saving people is also a very important part of his character. He saved so many people from all across the Grand Line, with whole countries or just one person, he had helped them and gotten them out of a dark spot that they might not have ever gotten out of without him. That's why I believe that he is a perfect vessel for Joyboy to be in. If you place a character like Goku or Naruto in there I don't think they could be Joyboy in a million years, all across from their mindset to their personality and their actions go against the concept of Joyboy. So you could say it was some chosen one bs but it is clear that Luffy had deserved to be Joyboy and worked toward that title and power. Even when his brother had died it had only taken him to remember what he had and how much he still had left to let him smile again. That would have never happened in Goku's case, if he didn't have the dragon balls he would have to live with the fact that he would never see (aside from himself), Krillin, Yamaha, Tien, Chaotzu, and Piccolo, only from OG to the sayian saga in Z. He could have never smiled and acted as Luffy had.
Putting Gon at C tier is hurts my soul. Togashi wrote him so well, his development throughout HxH is so good and he is a character with many layers, especially when you consider what he went through and saw at his age.
WHAT character development? He's the exact same at the end of the anime as he is at the start. He suffers from Ichigo syndrome in that he just doesn't change as a person.
@@ItsPillfishhe literally does though I'm guessing you didn't watch the anime. But personally I hated the change he becomes pure revenge mode even threatening to kill a blind kid. His emotions completely misguided him.
@@cngotham4111that's well written character...he changed because he's a children that watch his Sensei die in the hand's of a Chimera and now he just wants revenge. Kill an important person of a children life then give him the gun while you're curing someone...the kid will kill you straight away. You don't have to like it you need to relate. That's the difference between Gon and other characters like Naruto (talk no Jutsu) Luffy ( beats everyone) etc... Gon different from them only becomes strong enough in the end and trough a sacrifice because in hxh children are not very strong they can't destroy guy's with more experience but in one piece Luffy with 19 it's already top tier the same for Naruto.
Light Yagami in any tier lower than A is disrespectful. He was interesting, engaging, and charismatic from start to finish. You were interested in whatever he was doing all throughout the story and he drove the narrative. Everything revolves around him essentially. Without him, there is no story. How you have Light in B or C makes absolutely no sense to me and make me question what criteria we’re using to evaluate an MC. Having said that, this was extremely entertaining 😂 Ps: the idea that an MC is not well-written because they’re not “good” or are “evil” is weird to me
The slander to Ichigo, Lelouch, Asta and Saitama is actually insane. These people are rating these anime protags based on their own biased points on how much they like them and not based on the quality of these characters.
Personally guts should be number 1, character development in the world/story he went through alone he truly has struggled and keeps fighting. An inspiration to us all.
Yea i agree but i mean guts aint even from a shonen so id argue he shouldn't be on the list . but in shonen i think they did laluch light mob saitama and a few more hella dirty . If guts would (or more like if he was on the list when he shouldn't be on the list) been on this list yea he was easily gonna be number 1 the inly one who might be close is like joney jostar and dr tenma
@@יונתןטל-י1ע Saitama, Johnny(SBR was Jojo's transition from shonen to seinen), and Tenma aren't shonen either. The video simply mentions protagonists so I'm glad Guts was on the list
the fact ichigo doesn't have an ambition like Luffy n Naruto, is the reason i love him.. that's a good thing, he's consistently there for his guys to fight off AMAZING and complex villains, amazing writing from kubo imo
About Ichigo, I understand that he doesn’t have a huge goal or something like that but then if he is a part of the big three, it doesn’t mean he has to be similar to Naruto and Luffy, unlike them, it was different for him, he was driven to a corner, everything was sudden, he had to accept what happened to him, he didn’t have time to dream about goals, a-lot was going on and he had to accept all, he needed to figure out for what he was fighting for. His development was more complex, he had to figure out who he was and after realising the reality he knew he had to save those who were important to him. It’s not only the dreams that make a character better, for him, he didn’t have time to dream, for his case, he had to do it no matter what happened. Realise that every anime protagonist doesn’t have to be the same and there are multiple factors that determine how good a character is. I mean no offence with this tho and I am not saying that naruto and luffy are bad characters, they are great but Ichigo needed to be higher
@@Gerhaydes i can understand you tbh, to me, ichigo wasn’t a boring character, though there are others people say are good characters that just seem boring to me, at the end of the day, its all about preference
With all do respect, the lady in black not understanding both Ichigo and Spike really ticked me off. I think 2 creators that really explained Cowboy Bebop in an amazing way are Flying Walrus- You're gonna carry that weight, the point of Cowboy Bebop, and Soul- The bittersweet tragedy of Cowboy Bebop. The Ichigo argument was a cop out. If she really paid attention, she would know that Ichigo went through severe depression after discovering about everything like the soul society, his mom, his inner hollow, and how Aizen planned out his life. Ichigos journey is about self discovery and I feel she didn't understand it one bit. I'm not the best at explaining things so this is my best attempt at getting my thoughts out.
No lelouch too. There’s no fucking way lelouch is below Naruto or Luffy. I can understand Guts, spike, and Edward. But in no way is Lelouch below Naruto or Luffy
What a lot of people don't get with Ichigo, and that annoys me, is saying that he doesn't have a big dream or goal. There are two types of heroes : the ones who purchase a dream (Naruto, Luffy, ....), and then there are the ones like Ichigo : THE ONES WHO GO ON A ROAD OF SELF DISCOVERY ! Ichigo, has always tried to find his place in the world. The death of his mother pushes him into the role of the protector, and when Rukia comes along and gives him powers, it just cements the place he has made for himself. When he looses his power, his world crumbles because he has lost the place he had made for himself in it : because without powers, he can't protect, because without powers he is useless ! That is why he is so depressed in the fullbring arc. What's more, the zanpakuto perfectly represent this ROAD OF SELF DISCOVERY ! Ichigo, by encountering the pieces of his soul that are Zangetsu learns to understand himself : it is by learning the name of your sword that you unlock Shikai, it is by gaining understanding of himself and his relationship with Zangetsu / aka a piece of himself, that he unlocks the final getsuga tensho, and it is by finally learning the truth and resolving the puzzle that is his entire existence by learning his ROOTS (like Oetsu Nimaya says in episode 10), that he achieves his TRUE POTENTIAL ! Finally, after going through all the arcs the each represent a different facet of what and whom Ichigo is, can the Hero be whole. Ichigo now knows who he is, he knows his purpose, and is ready to join the battlefield. THE SECOND COUR AWAITS
ichigo is great character and very complex but my problem with him is that he is protagonist because he was a puppet first and foremost. He was being used and reason he is protagonist of bleach is cause he was easiest character to move the plot around. Yes by the end of manga he evolves into someone worthy of S tier but for anime only watchers they never got to see that so dont be too hard on them. For anime only POV ichigo is selfish dude who only care about his own private circle and does not care about anything happening outside it (i am just paraphrasing what ichigo says to rukia as for why he does not care to spend all his time doing soul reaper work). if aizen did not play the strings pulling him into situations where he is super relevant then he would never be protagonist and never become the brilliant character he ends up being in the end. He is only important because of who his parents are, not because of who he is. He only fights to protect people in his life not because protecting is right thing to do but because he is selfish like that. He only goes to save rukia cause he spent time with her and feel indebted. he did not do it cause "its right thing to do", at least that was not his original reason. If not for kidnaping orihime he would never go to hueco mundo, and if soul reapers did not help him gain the powers back after using mugetsu then he would never go back to aid them in 1000 year war. Do you understand what i try to say? Not saying that he is bad character, just that his greatness comes from knowing how he ends up at the end of manga, not from his great character and protagonist value throughout whole anime. For that reason i dont think he is better than naruto even though i personally think bleach is way better anime/manga than naruto is
How y'all gonna score deku higher than Asta all he does is cry, I thought this season was gonna be a huge amount of character growth for him since he went through his whole vigilante phase then he starts crying again like bro... Even the girl he saved called him a crybaby hero lol. How's sum1 gonna feel safe with a hero crying all the time.
@@wace9174 oh nahhh. You one of those. Every time Deku cries, it’s when he is in a heavily emotional moment that solicited that response. Or a gag. Every single time he has to fight he has no tears. Ever since season 1, he’s been on go for a battle. He packed up the 0 point robot, fought Bakugo twice , squared up with Todoroki and Shinso , jumped Stain, rocked Muscular TWICE, carried his team in the hero liscense exam, salvaged the hope of a little girl going through EXTREME amount of trauma AND beat up her abuser at the same time, redirected the trajectory of a near broken man’s life, and absolutely carried in a war TWICE. And then he spent two months fighting on minimal sleep and food, fighting the worst villains Japan has ever seen. All WITHOUT crying a SINGLE TIME. Fuck out of here with that “crybaby”shit. Look at Deku in episode one and then Deku now. Bro has a whole different energy.
The fact that so many 1D characters are above LIGHT YAGAMI is astonishing. Dude's literally the epitome of well written character. As for morals, it adds more depth to Light of how he sacrifice his own life and of others for the overall betterment of the world. The transition of a high schooler to a justice driven maniac Kira was beautifully done.
@@TheShockVox nah, nothing about his character shows that objectively. That is purely your perception. Sure he gets arrogant, and angered by defiance, but nothing he does is purely for himself. His every action is for his ultimate goal for a peaceful world.
@@sirgreedy88He is a selfish asshole who wants to be the god of the world. Sure, he kills murderer, but he sees himself as above justice, justifying killing innocent people if that helps hos selfish goal. i would just switch luffy with light yagami, im caugh up in one piece and i like the show but this is the most overrated show ever, people who call attack on titan overrated is the same people that think one piece should be in the same level of guts like wtf lmao, and in my opinion, eren would always be at S tier, that show was something that we never saw before, that mf killed his own mother, he got to a point that he loss his mind looking for freedom and romance, its just so crazy to me that people call that character overrated lmao
So we ain’t talk about how Ichigo was depressed for like a whole arc just because he was afraid of rampaging on his friends and loved ones and closed himself of from others to avoid so? Also he gets downplayed a lot crazy man
Exactly, the dude shouting Gon’s generic obviously didn’t understand togashi’s writing. Gon is a tragic hero whose flaw led to his own downfall. Luckily he’s young, and HXH is still (kinda) a shonen😂. He’s beautifully written.
Code Geass deserves a ton of respect. One of the best wrap-ups in all of anime history. A big problem in anime is lack of proper endings. Sometimes anime get canceled and sometimes they keep going until they deteriorate into trash. ATLAB and FMAB are beloved stories because they had a beginning, middle, and end.
@@LightifyMC she kind of biased towards her own morals which is what put a few characters in spots that they don’t deserve and others got flat out disrespected
Ichigo once again being underappreciated, Asta being called a Naruto clone. What's new. Also that Hinata Shoyo placement is blasphemous. And yes Luffy is S tier no doubt. Great vid.
Luffy king of boring. Luffy is extremely childish and borderline mentally retarded. The brainless protagonist trope is just obnoxious and extremely annoying. Not every protagonist needs to be a 10000 iq genius but they should at least have some basic common sense.
No powers, wants to be leader/powerful figure, uses forbidden techniques, fights off evil using the very evil everyone is afraid of, demon was once in mom, demon passed down to him, then in order to utilize the strongest form of his demon he befriends it. Who am I talking about?
Light is the protagonist but hes also the villian. A protagonist is the leader of the story it doesnt really have to do with him being a good or bad guy. The only thing i think that holds him back is that the show is about his dynamic with L and that ultimately is what makes death note great
My opinion on the Luffy S tier argument, specifically at around 51:00 when they talk about how he saves lives. Yes all of the protagonists save lives (with some obvious exceptions) and some save more than others. But going off the metric of how much or “cosmic” scale isn’t what makes them a better protagonists. My understanding is that Luffy doesn’t save lives, he changes them. Which I think a couple of you were trying to point out. A life saved is a life saved, a simple way of saying this person or this group would have died without this protagonist. But Luffy saves people from more than just death, he saves them from their demons, internal struggles, and even from themselves. It’s easy to look at Goku and say he’s saved more lives, but were any better off after being saved? Or were they the same and it’s like that event didn’t happen.
Goku didn’t save people from their demons or put them in the path of changing themselves and overcoming their demons lmao I mean you can even say naruto changes people in that way wit sasuke neji Gaara nagato lmao even how he gave jiriaya faith in him like ya saying anything mow
@@Veggie_Goat sorry if I wasn’t clear in my comment 😅 I was saying that Luffy changes lives and does more than for example a Goku who just prevents death.
When creating a character tier list, it's important to establish a rating outline beforehand to facilitate a consensus-based discussion. Tier list at the end of the day is just a biased ranking.
Lelouch, Guts, Luffy, Edward, Yusuke, Bojji. In my opinion these are the protagonist that deserves S tier. Being a great protagonist not only means you are great character it's also about how much you effect the world around you.
Bro with the beanie spoke facts on Bleach but ain't fight enough for it If I WAS THERE MANNNNN I would've had the understanding tf out of Ichigo and Bleach😭😭. Ichigo and his powers are BOTH complex, his journey is not us getting to know him but him getting to know himself.
That girl probably only watched the fillers of bleach. If you really knew anything, she would know aizen manipulated EVERY SINGLE part of ichigos life, from him taking a turd, to defeating him. To protect is his motto, because that's what was set up for him, if he can't do that, he's failed.
So aizen is like the reverse flash to Barry by how it sounds. If you read a flash comic reverse flash literally does every little bad thing to Barry's life without Barry knowing for so long.
Berserk, Full Metal, Yuyu Hakusho, AoT and Deathnote are my vote for S tier. Eren and Light look like a villain at the end but thats what it make the anime something different among the common story. After you watched so many anime, the story are becoming basic and we need those kind of twist. Again this is my ranking and everyone has different taste thats why this is a very good video by Shonen Showdown.
This guys don't undersetand Asta, or haven't read the manga, Asta changed the entire Perspective of Nobels, and Peasants, when Asta was in trouble even the nobels respected him. Screw Goku he can stay in his shitty A tier, no fuking way that idiot is S tier, because of him Frieza is stronger then ever before.
The Ichigo slander was unbelievable. Not to talk down or anything, but the girl in the black said some disagreeable statements. She said she felt like it was a cop out writing the fact he’s a hybrid but it brings some context into TYBW arc about his heritage and Mothers story that you need to know to understand what’s going on this he’s able to learn about himself in order to accept the hollow in him as his true zanpaktou it’s not like Kubo did it for no reason yk? Also I’m so tired of ppl saying Ichigo is a bland mc. Naruto and Luffy get compared a lot simply because they have very similar goals. Both wanna be a higher representative of their world(hokage/pirate king). Ichigo on the other hand has a very different goal that was very clearly made in the beginning after he fought grand fisher idk why she said it wasn’t but he simply just wants to be strong enough to fight to protect his friends and ppl he cares about. 32:52 she said they struggled to keep a consistent theme I heavily disagree. To back this up I’m going to use the main arcs. Soul society arc the theme was rescuing Rukia and before that arc he trained like hell to be able to be able to survive being in SS. Espada arc they had to rescue Orihime and then shortly after he’s fighting Aizen in the fake karakura arc to protect the real karakura and then finally in the fullbring arc he’s training to his will/power back to protect those he cares about. How is that not a consistent theme? The consistent theme is he’s always there to fight to protect those he cares about in these arcs. Naruto and Luffy I love them but they don’t have a story like that. It’s vastly different so why compare it? He’s high A low S tier main protagonist. He has a real vibe and is the most humanly relatable mc of the big three
It’s the defending of Luffy with the same points you can say for both Goku, Naruto and dare say Ichigo. It’s the love for the series that makes them put him above them when the same points that were pointed out describe every other Shonen protagonist for their respective universe
This is just facts. "Luffy makes the other characters the best versions of themselves" While without goku: Yamcha would be a criminal, Bulma would just be a rich girl still looking for a boyfriend, Tien and chiaotzu would be assassins with bounties on their heads, Red ribbon army would've ruled the world, Piccolo would be sealed and would have no chance to become good, Vegeta would be a slave to frieza his whole life or would just be dead, there would be no one to avenge the saiyan race, jiren would still be the selfish arrogant character he was before finding out the strength of u7's trust (All because goku recruited frieza) and zeno would've never had fun or be open to any mortal friendships and would've destroyed all universes without goku making the TOP request. It's all because of goku that Vegeta is the greatest deuteragonist in anime, all his choices leading up to a villain like vegeta giving the "You are number 1" speech in the end of the buu arc. Criminally disrespected. That guy was right, he's done everything luffy has but on a larger scale. But because they all like one piece better luffy is higher. They're either both in S tier or not
There's a clear bias because Gabe is the only person that isn't a One piece Stan. If Goku and Naruto arent in S then so is Luffy and tbh, Luffy should be in B
@@OneeUp1 i think the difference is luffy is supposed to be the sucessor of the god of freedom/joyboy who is going to throw down the world government for the good of everyone and also that guy who brings hapiness to everyone they meet, while goku doesn't have that much of a destiny/chosen one like of a prophecy, he just wants to get stronger
Something not said about luffy is that he’s the perfect protagonist for his respective series One piece is silly funny and fun but also really serious and deep and that’s luffy And his simplicity isn’t a bad thing because one piece is a complex and intricate story and following a straightforward protagonist serves that well
Preach! I don't get these people. You can't simply have a single S teir top character ever? cause if you put them in other series. Say guts or naruto in one piece? one piece is gone. So what determines a character is how well they are versed with their own series which most mcs do quite well however imo luffy does it a notch above them. its not about how genius luffy is or how much tears he dropped. its about him representing his story and that's freedom.
no, deff not S tier material. and if it was, naruto and goku aint A tier. everything naruto and goku have done is better then luffy, name them rn. better villains then one piece, i would say one piece has better story after seeing new chapter but boruto still cookin so we aint talkin bout that, naruto leads a village, you could say luffy leads some fleats like the barrier guy dude, but they never see eachother tbh, goku stronger, worse backstory, i mean luffy doesn't even have a bad backstory other then his brother dying, i mean naruto whole clan dead but alright,
Gon being in D tier and Light barely beating out Soma…yeah I’m definitely losing sleep over that tonight. But this was a fun video, would love to see more of you guys! 😁
AINT NO WAY SHE DISRESPECTED ICHIGO AND SAID HE GOT EVERYTHING AND CAN DO EVERYTHING BRUV This man was forced into a world without any knowledge of anything and had to face severe depression cause of the heritage he had as a 15 YEAR OLD and realized all he had to do was accept himself and thats bad writing???? HUH!?!?
Ichigo gets overlooked too much. People love yuji but he’s literally ichigo 2.0 but with a different character (goofy, dopy, but strong and loveable) while ichigo is more quiet, punkish, and aloof. Ichigo’s goal is to protect others due to his mothers death which he felt responsible for sadly. That’s a goal. No one questions yuji’s goal which his grandpa gave him? But say ichigo has no goal? I feel people just don’t like ichigo but dismissing him as a character is wrong. He has a incredible arc to self discovery. People need to watch bleach again it seems the forgot a lot about the early chapters and ichigos story.
@@King_ace22 ichigo is aloof. He’s doesn’t come across friendly and is always scrawling. He’s much quieter than other protagonists that’s why many overlook him and prefer luffy /Naruto. He basically has a similar personality to sasuke, aki, megumi etc and would be exactly like them if he didn’t have the punk attitude. As a main character people don’t like that. It’s normally the second lead characters who have this personality in shonen anime.
*SPOILERS for tybw cour 1* Ichigo is way more symbolic then just wanting to protect his friends :/ No one brings up the fact that his name literally means to protect. That until the TYBW arc he has been living with the guilt of 'killing' his mom. So once he knew yhwach killed his mom, that was a weight of his shoulders. Everything about him and different aspects of his race link to the plot in some way. Not to mention that the Blade Is Me when he gets his true shikai that is him accepting his mother's side of his power. He has always accepted his dad's power (soul reaper) but he never accepted his Mom's power (hollow and quincy) because of his guilt of 'killing her'. And the fact that we learn about the world as he learns more about himself is also why I personally am always intrigued by anything ichigo.
@@wace9174 they did. He used the auswhalen and removed masaki of her power. And then grand Fisher killed her. So yhwach did 99% of the work and grand Fisher did 1%. This was explained in ep 12 of tybw cour 1
Its not right how everyone but one person thinks Lelouch was a great character but she keeps getting her way over all of them. Lelouch making one unintentional mistake that he had no control over doesnt take away from all the greatness that made him an amazing protagonist in that series. She was too hung up on that to appreciate the rest of the series. Also to approve of Eren doing intentionally made her bias against Lelouch worse.
Ichigo's way too low atleast high A would make sense. Ichigo's written in a way that shows our struggles he's constantly trying to figure out who he is and the internal struggle of identity and not being enough and all of that is crazy good writing for me. Idk I may be bias, but ichigo got disrespected.
I think y'all underestimate Gon as a protagonist. On the surface level he seems simple but to me he's so interesting with his questionable morality and slight insanity which is seen throughout the series but more upfront during the Chimera Ant arc, he's pretty complex. I wish more people took the time to analyze him than just see him on the surface
Yuh he at least deserved A tier, I feel like the argument they used for Emma applies to him on a different but much greater scale. His character during the Chimera Ant arc was way entertaining and relatable than Mob or Senku (no diss to them tho)
@@desmondgovender3142 but thats kinda disregarding his moral compass. Do you think Luffy or Goku would be willing to kill a innocent child to achieve their goal.
Funny how they talk about hardship and adversity for every character except when it’s Naruto’ turn. The guy had to live by himself when he was 10 years old, both parents died, lost jiraya and much more. Should be S tier easily
bro what r u on hes good in a tier not s just cause he went through harships etc doesnt make him a good protagonist naruto was a great protagonist and he deserves to be at the top of a tier but not s
“Talk no jutsu” slander lowkey wack because first of all Naruto throws hands before he does this and it fits the theme of the story so well. Naruto was always a unique story about ending the cycle of hatred, creating peace for EVERYONE, and challenging not only in combat but in ideals as well. I get that people don’t like it because they would rather see the villain die/ get defeated, but I think the fact that Naruto gives them the chance to redeem themselves and change is what makes Naruto so great and unique.
Its because he uses third grader logic to convince 200 year villains that being tortured and hated your whole life is ok because hes gonna be the hokage believe it. He is brainwashing them and even worse he does it after they have already lost and should be about to die, seems more like a threat to me. Its nice to see Naruto go on the Perfect Pacifist route but its not done in a satisfying way because of the writing and that brings the character down alot. In Boruto hes alot better written though.
facts! Naruto gave people a lotta hope in 2006 youtube times when that anime was everywhere on youtube . Funny, strong willed , sensitive and maturing more and more down the line . It's because the franchise became so popular and is in the spotlight even now, that is one of those that gets targeted sadly
You guys should create a grading scale; likability, challenge/struggle, weight/impact (in the anime and culture), backstory, character development, etc... in my opinion
I agree that Luffy, Naruto and Goku belong next to each other. He argued against Naruto using talk-no-jutsu but am argument for Luffy was how he inspires people to be better. The whole the point of talk-no-jutsu is Naruto seeing the best in everyone and bringing it out so I feel like there was a lot of OP bias here.
Luffy don’t talk tho he beats on shit, here’s the difference for example kaido oppressing a country starving people, putting innocent lives at stake, luffy says “kaido im gonna kick your ass for this” while Naruto kaguya steal everyone’s chakra, creates dimmenions kills 10000s of people Naruto say “you still have a chance to be good” 😂😂 there’s a huge difference in character luffy ain’t here to talk to bad guys
@@jwattz9105 No it wasn't. Naruto never tried to talk no jutsu her. You're just biased. Also, even in the instances when Naruto talked no jutsu others, he still beat tf out of them before that. Just say that you hate Naruto but don't come up with bs lies
Ichigo got his powers in ep 1 so of course he wouldn’t have an overall goal, naruto and luffy were raised knowing they wanted to be hokage and pirate king. So he got his new powers and he wants to be stronger to protect his friends and family, you don’t need a goal to be a good protagonist, I really think ichigo is a better written protagonist then many of the characters in A tier. The girl in the black comparing ichigo to David is crazy ☠️
Ichigo not having a goal so why didn't he just give up the powers from the start, so you are saying he doesn't care about the soul society that he risked his life for not just protecting that, his friends, family, even lost his powers to do so. But ichigo never said anything about it that it is his sworn duty to protect what, he did it of the kindness of his heart but that wasn't his obligated goal it was literally to get stronger and protect his loved ones. Which they don't show any appreciation for the things he's done for them which got me pissed in the fullbringer arc. This is why I like naruto cuz they explains things through the episodes for bleach it's literal questions unanswered and you have to wait until the very end of the very end what the fuck is going on.
Lelouch is absolutely the best character out of the entire list, well written, has depth, has a backstory that justifies his character. The only arguement against him was that his geass power went out of control like it was his fault. If we are pulling characters down based on the mistakes they made (which is honestly good for character development) then most of these characters deserve lower spots. The girl arguing against it was so biased.
Nah, the one piece bias is obvious. "Luffy makes the other characters the best versions of themselves" While without goku: Yamcha would be a criminal, Bulma would just be a rich girl still looking for a boyfriend, Tien and chiaotzu would be assassins with bounties on their heads, Red ribbon army would've ruled the world, Piccolo would be sealed and still a demon, Vegeta would be a slave to frieza his whole life or would just be dead, there would be no one to avenge the saiyan race, jiren would still be the selfish arrogant character he was before finding out the strength of u7's trust (All because goku recruited frieza) and zeno would've never had any fun or be open to any mortal friendships and would've destroyed all universes without goku making the TOP request. It's all because of goku that Vegeta is the greatest deuteragonist in anime, all his choices leading up to a villain like vegeta giving the "You are number 1" speech in the end of the buu arc. Criminally disrespected. That guy was right, he's done everything luffy has but on a larger scale. I doubt half of you have watched db without thinking of it as just a fighting simulator They're either both in S tier or not
because this channel is a onepiece dckrider. Look their videos always luffy on thumbnail hahaha. When it comes to luffy they're saying bunch of shts but when it comes to other characters like naruto they saying just talk no jutsu like wtf
@@KevinCrypto04 Acting like goku isn't a leader. He fought over and over again for everyone, sacrificed his life multiple times and wasted 7 years of his life in the afterlife for the earth's well being during the buu saga when he realized he was the problem. Also I don't get the talk no jutsu point. Him being able to speak and reach to people's hearts is a major + for his character 😭 not everything gotta be fists. He only talks to the people that he knows have humanity left in them, those that had a deep past because he knows he would've been in their position if one bad day had happened. I didn't see him try to talk to madara and kaguya, i saw him talk to himself from kakashi's gen, and his master's disciple
those asta and ichigo placements had me fuming lol. I was surprised that ichigo got disrespected but when asta came up i instanty knew they were gonna put in in D tier because i know that most people don't like black clover or asta and the fact that they were calling asta a naruto clone in 2023 proves that they haven't even watched the show. Anyways rob is a living W and great vid💙
She said it perfectly, Luffy causes character development and MAKES them change. Goku just makes everyone physically stronger but everyone's characters are the same since Z(only in db and a did he actually develop others characters) The powerscalling argument doesn't work when comparing stakes cause quite simply the world government destroying ONE island has more ramifications and impact on the One Piece world than the earth or galaxy or universe getting destroyed by the next stronger villain of the week. It holds more weight because anyone with a brain can understand that what the world government is doing is evil and it has an actual emotional connection to the reader beyond the small group of characters that we know. We understand that it actually means something. Nobody cares that Zeno bliped away 7 universes like he's thanos, even THANOS made that concept more interesting. Genocide has to be done right to actually matter. You care that frieza killed all the Saiyans but at that point Goku doesnt put that much thought to it. Put simply if Luffy's a Goku copy, Oda must be Kakashi cause he did that shit better than Toriyama.
@@ImchautzuCHAUTZU that’s incredibly inaccurate and a disrespect to goku. Goku directly changed Yamcha into a better person albeit not directly. He did so via bulma and oolong who were morally not good people who were using goku’s nativity for their benefit. Bulma leanred to be better through struggles directly from goku’s journey. Oolong remained the same mostly but he’s a gag character who’s their for laughs and he’s barely seen after the first tournament anyways. Goku inspired master roshi and teaches him that there are always those stronger out there. He changed Krillin from a selfish person to a respectable martial artist who’s out to live a normal life. Changed tiens outlook on life and what it means to be best martial artist. Changed piccolo by sparing him and indirectly having his son spare him. Changed vegeta through sparing him and the multiple events involving him and even then the road was bumpy. Goku has changed the world around him in a far more nuanced and natural way. Luffy befriends people by beating up the people affect them directly. Goku has physiological debates with himself and indirectly changes people for the better through sheer luck. Goku’s own morals has gotten him killed hence why goku gaining friends is actually good.
Dude kept saying that Goku did exactly what Luffy did but on a cosmic scale. As if Luffy wouldn't have done so if the scale even went that high in OP...
Whoever the guy in the beanie is: Shouting your opinion doesn't make it any more valid. Saying that Goku has done more for anime than Luffy really depends on in which era we're talking about here. The show ITSELF, Dragon Ball and whatever lettering you're putting afterwards, have indeed done more. But Goku as a character, you can't convince me has more depth than even Lelouch at this point.
@@jtmassecure4488 no character on that list other than Guts and Lelouch can compete with Luffy. If uve read one piece till the end and dont think luffy is S tier im sorry but ur kind of an idiot., the main reason why one piece is so good and so successful is because of luffys character.
I think that Luffy stays in S tier. I completely agree that he makes all of the characters around him a much better character. Look at some of the straw hats like Sanji and Robin. In whole cake island, Sanji went as far as to fight Luffy so that it was easier for Luffy to give up on him. However, Luffy promised Sanji that he would stay there for Sanji, claiming that he couldn’t become the king of the pirates without him. After Sanji finds out that the Big Mom pirates are going to kill his family and pudding doesn’t actually care for him, Luffy is Sanji’s last hope. Sanji runs back to find Luffy, still there. Luffy asks what sanji really wants, and he finally breaks and says “I wanna go back to the sunny.” Luffy responds with a smile and says “well, that’s how you are.” Sanji is just one example. Luffy isn’t just a great leader, he reads everyone very well and brings the best out of all of them. One more thing, Luffy went through arguably the best arc in one piece without any of the straw hats. He broke through all of impel down and brought prisoners together such as Crocodile, Buggy, Ivan, Mr 3, and Jinbei and brought all of them to marineford to rescue his brother.
the thing is, Naruto, Ichigo, Gon and many more anime protagonists do that, they make people around them better. Naruto literally brought upon world peace, changing everyones lives (of course not alone). Gon turned Killua from an assassin into a decent human being. Goku turned Vegeta into a good guy. Like, the reason people love One Piece so much is not the protagonist, it's the story, the complex world building, the interesting and fun side characters. I've watched the top 200 most popular anime and Luffy's personality and character is not special.
Like, what the fuck was that? This list switches it's Ranking Topic every fucking time, and most of the explanations are just "He did so many Things." and not even considering how good they are written.
It's kind of like Superman. That's why people don't like him. Personality aside, ichigo, like Superman, was born more special than other soul reapers and just needed to discover his talents to be great. While they are unique, they don't seem to work too hard like Naruto and Luffy did. Yeah, Naruto had Kurama and was the son of a Hokage, but he grew up paying rent and feared Kurama and his power for most of his life. Struggle is the key here, that Is something we didn't see Ichigo do too much of. I'm not saying he plowed through everyone, but his progression felt like 'I beat you because I'm him' instead of 'we all have problems, but I need to fix mine, and maybe yours'. This is my opinion, so don't come at me too hard.
@@bda1st have you honestly watched bleach? Ichigo gets fked in the ass and bent iver backwards to the point that people argue "why does ichigo lose so much" go watch the fullbring arc
@@bda1st i think the issue with ichigo and bleach is that it was a more serious anime when we all were kids and it played on adult swim rather than cartoon network. So people ride the mostalgia train with naruto and one piece but when it comes to bleach people are extremely critical on things they normally oversee . Ichigo is a very complex character, and hes easily the most relatable out of the big 3. He doesnt have a stupid goalmlike become the next black president.. his goal is realistic.. he just wants to protect those he loves, he struggles A LOT, dude has multiple trainning arcs but again.. as a non bleach fan you dont see that
I think the video would have been much easier if they gave an example of what a “good” protagonist is because it feels like their ranking on how much they like the characters
@@royalfun1031 it facts tho just look at Eren. Some people have him as the best character ever written in all fiction, you got some that thinks he was dog shit since the beginning, and you got the ones who loved him until the ending then deemed him a trash character. Thank you guys, especially Chilly for including my favorite anime character of all time, Spike from Cowboy Bebop, and for ranking him so high. He truly is the GOAT and I think Cowboy Bebop is the best show of all time. Love from TN
He has a point though. Luffy is basically Pirate Goku. One piece is more complex, so you can say it's "better", but what Luffy does is basically the same as Goku. And if you're caught up with the manga, you know he had some INSANE plot armor.
@@revan9121 well what series doesn’t have plot armor? Tell us! And besides, Luffy has a goal, thus the story progresses. What does Goku has? Goku is overpowered, Luffy had to make something out of his df.
Saitama that low is insane, the teachings he gives to everyone hes beaten about morality, the influence he has over everyone around him pushing them to be better, the struggle he has to get his humanity back to, feel emotion again, and overall hilarious personality should put him to at least B-tier
That's makes characters around him better but he isn't developed since the beginning of the show, yes we saw few moments of change in him in the manga but overall not that great character
@@THOUsdu2004 which is y I was saying he should be B-tier, low B maybe high C, his overall influence counters his lack of growth. He fosho shouldn't have been D
I feel like it depends. Goku is the absolute definition of mc, but how good of a mc is he? The argument was about Luffy vs Goku, but lets put Naruto too just to be sure. All 3 are staples to understand the words "main character". So, why should Luffy be higher (or why should Goku be higher)? I'm gonna share my opinion on this and I think the list is perfect the way it is. One of Gabe's arguments I really didn't like was the "Goku did that on a universal level", cuz both Luffy and Naruto could have done it, if the power level went beyond Earth. That said, we need to understand what is/which are their strengths as mc. I feel like for Naruto is his persistence in achieving his goal (which has a higher purpose of Goku's "goal", while it's kinda similar to Luffy's). Goku is ready to fight everyone, even the highest powers to achieve strength and safety for his loved ones (things that Naruto kinda did, but that was done the same way from Luffy). This is the reason I think Luffy is higher : he has both the other's goals and guts, but also he has them better placed in the general story of the manga.
@@lukecalos4442 luffy is a goofy. the same way op is. i had enough of u op fans. ur show is middd. joking i just had to calm myself a little. it’s amazingly good, but has more weak points than these 2. that’s the reality, and no. luffy is not a great character. stop d riging him and grow up already. he’s goofy 99% of the times, which to some means what a great character is. has no real sense. is selfish af. thinks he’s always right like man, this is more like a kids show at this point
@@dandanyellow Luffy started like that... He was selfish. He was 99% goofy. The reason I like it it's not for how he was, but for the character development he had. In some way he is still the same from the start (he is still stupid and goofy), but he was able to mitigate these characteristics in a good way. Now he is goofy only when he doesn't need to be serious (which is more like 25/30% of the time. Considering being goofy is part of his character, it's a great improvement). For the selfish part I don't really get it🤔 sometimes his pride is the real problem, like when he challenged Big Mom, or he didn't follow Laws orders in dressrosa and Wano, but there 3 arcs give us the definition of Luffy's selflessness (alongside all the others important arcs). Imo the only mc that can actually be better than him is Naruto (among the big 3 + Dragonball). He was able to start at his lowest point, in a selfish and corrupted society, and was able to make friends, achieve his dreams and make everything better for everyone. The strongest point about Naruto is that the anime ended, so we can't really make a comparison with OP and DB. Anyway I was just trying to support my argument. You can have different ideas, and, if you explain them, I could probably change my mind on that.
@@lukecalos4442 That would just be your opinion. A well written character objectively speaking would be defined by the level of influence they have, without having any bias. It would be Goku, Naruto, then Luffy.
Tragic backstory ≠ better character. Luffy is the embodiment of freedom and he didn’t exist his whole crew would not be where they are right now. Luffy creativity, real ass speeches, and overall character is something that should not be looked down upon at all.
You gotta notice if luffy is in s tier goku should be also...if goku is in s tier than luffy should be also....The building blocks between these two characters are the same....there are almost like twins from another world

In regards to Lelouch. He is clearly S tier, they way they wrote his character is incredible. His power greed and mistakes were all a part of his character and made him a more enjoyable protagonist.
@@kyaboysavannah1336 at least he has better quotes than your mid character. at least he got his powers by himself. he also encourage others to work hard for their goal, even in real life.
I knew the list was GGs from the start but unlike most other shounen mc’s Ichigo doesn’t have some grand goal rather he has subtle inner goals of finding about himself and accepting himself also he’s supposed to depict a normal teenager thrown into the chaos of supernatural. Unfortunately the way he’s written is too complex for simple minded people with surface level knowledge and understanding of him.
So many people just seem to miss the nuance in Luffy's character. He's very cookie cutter on the outside but so many tiny interactions or ways he acts just puts him in another ballgame.
I started out really disliking luffy cause he would always act stupid and win fights easy, but when he fought crocodile and almost died just to protect his newly found friends i started loving him He will risk his life to protect someones dream time and time again, if people dont like luffy even after the robin arc that's just a bad opinion
A good protagonist should not solely be determined by what their ambitions, morals, goals, or ethics are. They should be determined based on how well they are written. Goals and ambitions are nearly meaningless in the medium of literature and media in the overall making and markings of a great character because the writer can make the protagonist achieve their goals whenever they decide to put the words on paper. While a character's goal is an important aspect of a story, it's not what makes the story. Any writer, or anyone, in fact, can create a character with "X" goal(s) and make said character achieve "X" goal(s) on command. What truly makes a good protagonist, or any character for that matter, is the nuance placed into their character and how they navigate the story that they are placed into and face the challenges that they are presented with throughout their journey, whether that be conflict from within themselves, conflict between other characters, or difficult circumstances in the world that they are placed in. Although a lot of these characters are fun and creative, in the grand scheme of things, they are not worthy of being touted as amazingly well-written characters and are relatively boring. There is no deeper message or underlying thing or theme about them; they are just a caricature of an emotion, a philosophy, or, again, a goal. A lot of people seem to search for some deeper meaning in a lot of these Shonen protagonists when there just simply isn't one. They're strong and are always winning battles and winning over the praise of the other characters in their respective stories because they are just the "good guy". To me, a well-written character is one that is relatable not only in the sense that they have some grandiose thing that they want to accomplish or are working towards accomplishing, but also in the sense that they actually feel human. I just can't see the argument for characters like Luffy, Naruto, and Goku being better protagonists than characters like Mugen, Lelouch, Light, and even Ichigo. All of these characters have way more thought and nuance put into them when compared to the other three that sit in grades higher than them. Luffy, Naruto, and Goku are such surface-level characters that their dedicated fanbases have made them seem deeper and more misunderstood than they are. Though I will say Naruto made more progress as a character than Luffy and Goku, In terms of the other two, they are dimwitted, enthusiastic, persevering, reckless, and charismatic fighters who will always pursue their respective goals while fighting those in their way. They charge headlong into battle, seldom ever losing, and when they do lose, their only consequence from their loss is them, more often than not, just being rewarded with a power-up and then proceeding to destroy the previous obstacle that made them "lose" in the first place. Rinse and repeat. They don't grow or learn anything from their loss; they just get stronger because the writer said so, and they won't lose again until the writer decides to add another powerup. That is just what they are. These characters are fun and entertaining-even iconic-but let's not act like they're some sort of philosophical or literary genius. These are stories that someone with a junior high imagination can come up with. I'm just glad that Chilly set the record straight with the placement of Spike. The argument that he's not a good protagonist because he didn't "conquer his demons" and "lost" is fucking ridiculous. He "lost" because he is human, and frankly, a lot more stories need to be told of protagonists that don't achieve their goals because, in my opinion, there's nothing more relatable and heart-touching to the human psyche than a story where the hero just wasn't enough to conquer the obstacles placed in front of them. Such is life.
While i agreed that MC protagonist should be ranked by how well they written I would still Put Luffy in S tier just because the similarity of his character and the series he lives. Put this simply One Piece is very complex series not only because it is 1000+ eps and chapter long but because the plot is also complex. There's many mystery still not revealed by Oda but Also mysteries that had been revealed, villain and antagonist roaming around this world. And what those mysteries and villain facing up with? A boy with sandals, shorts, and red vest with straw hat. Sure Luffy is inspired by Goku but for me he perfected that blueprint of typical Shounen MCs especially in terms of selfless behavior and very high EQ (Emotional Intelligence) While Luffy isn't the sharpest tool in the shed his Emotional Intelligence is very high as he can sees through someone example as Nami in arlong park, Robin in enies lobby, and Sanji in WCI. Simply put, at surface level Luffy is your typical happy go lucky adventurous MCs but below that he can see through someone heart, the character around him helping him to be a better leader and in turn he makes them undergoes character development (reverse character development), and also he fears to be alone as we can see his backstory when he wait Uta to comeback to his village but she's never again visit him and he had no friend and alone up until he meet his soon to be brother, Ace. It's funny how the series reminded him again fears of alone when he lost Ace as he once again feels alone and in deep state of depression up until he remember again, he had his crew.
Naruto literally changed the world and saved the world and had one of the saddest things happened to him. He was beaten had his parents die and was left alone he was eating ramen every day he achieved his dream also I do still respect you

What's the point of having big dreams if you're the chosen one from the beginning? Ichigo is the reverse of that, he's the chosen one but "f**k it, I just wanna live my life however I want".
Putting Ichigo into B tier cuz he has no goals to be best at something ? Like seriously thats the dumbest reasoning ever . Ichigo has a goal and is way more real and relateable than majority of protagonists out there , which is : to live happy normal life , but he always gets wrapped in unwanted shitcuz he has to protect / save people around him . He's mature , doesn't do moral virtue speaches , doesn't look for pointless battles and he shouldn't be placed anywhere less than A for that.
because bleach is the least popular of the three and least talked about, people seem to just watch it without really trying to understand the story. people that say he's bland dont know all the different powers and family bloodlines, they just watch it for fights. wish people payed more attention to ichigos actions and his character. for me luffy is still better but ichigo is def atleast an a tier protagonist, maybe even low s
Agree with you for sure. Ichigo for me is low S tier and If somebody put him in A I'm also good with that. S-A it's a good spot but lower than that? Nah
Luffy is F-teir. The hype and OP stans are the only reason he is being considered. As a main character, he is nothing, no character development, no maturing/ growing up, and as a hero, he's not even mid. Without the side characters, OP wouldn't even be airing. And even with the side characters, he is beat down every single time and then some bullshit miracle happens and he gets saved. True fact of the matter is, the one time he did not have his crew, he failed his most important mission, of saving his brother.
I'm sorry and this might piss of many anime fans but Ichigo is not compared to Luffy and Naruto because he is just better. Luffy and Naruto both know who they are and what they want, while on the other hand, Ichigo is trying to find himself. That in my opinion is what makes him a better protagonist. Someone who's lost and whose self is yet to be discovered. That's his path, and we get to see how he reaches his full potential without the "my dream is to be the best". Also, listening to them talking about how Ichigo is makes me think they did not understand the character at all... Once again, it's my opinion of course. Peace.
You missed the whole point of what being a pirate king is to luffy. Luffy wants to be the pirate king not because he wants to be the best pirate or the strongest pirate there is. The only reason he wants to become stronger is because of his friends so he can protect them while they go on a journey. Luffy's dream is "to become the freest man on the sea" Thats what being a pirate king really means to him. Now if you dont even remember that qoute then i dont think you've seen one piece at all.

@@danielb0t wtf? You didnt understand what i just said. The title "king of the pirates" does not mean you are the strongest pirate there is. That title was given to gol d roger by the public and newspapers because he found one piece and got to the last island that nobody has ever been to for the past 800 years and the world goverment does not want anybody to go the last island except themselves. He didnt became pirate king because he beat every strong pirate out there is and became the best. Thats not how it works lmaoo. When rayleigh asked luffy "do you really think you can conquer the seas?" Luffy responded with "i dont want to conquer anything i just think that the freest man on the sea is the pirate king" Back when luffy was a kid he already understood that he was gonna have a crew in the future because he already met shanks and his crewmates. So luffy understood from the get go that he has to protect his future crewmates just like shanks did to his own crewmates.
Ichigo S easily, is more deep than people think, his dream comes from the trauma of seeing his mom dies and all his character development is something so underrated

Facts
Damn that's right
Except he was the weakest part of that very arc.

@rickytheratyoutube6884 Yeah, them putting Lelouch below Naruto and Luffy was practically insane. This tier list shouldn't even exist
THE SECOND COUR AWAITS

man woke up, and decided he write facts, there are an enormous amount of paragraphs and he just decided to spit this out, respect
ichigo is great character and very complex but my problem with him is that he is protagonist because he was a puppet first and foremost.

Light is the protagonist but hes also the villian. A protagonist is the leader of the story it doesnt really have to do with him being a good or bad guy. The only thing i think that holds him back is that the show is about his dynamic with L and that ultimately is what makes death note great

in the end he got outsmarted by 2 kids, achieved nothing and died... how is he good protagonist?
The discussions on Light really revealed who doesn't understand the difference between the hero/villain axis and the protagonist/antagonist axis.
This is a seriously good point

That girl probably only watched the fillers of bleach. If you really knew anything, she would know aizen manipulated EVERY SINGLE part of ichigos life, from him taking a turd, to defeating him. To protect is his motto, because that's what was set up for him, if he can't do that, he's failed.
So aizen is like the reverse flash to Barry by how it sounds. If you read a flash comic reverse flash literally does every little bad thing to Barry's life without Barry knowing for so long.

Exactly. They’re defending the love the have for him.
They're either both in S tier or not
That’s true. My only argument when it comes to Goku is that he has been revived before. The impact when it comes to sacrifice isn’t as big to me.
Something not said about luffy is that he’s the perfect protagonist for his respective series
One piece is silly funny and fun but also really serious and deep and that’s luffy
And his simplicity isn’t a bad thing because one piece is a complex and intricate story and following a straightforward protagonist serves that well
Preach! I don't get these people. You can't simply have a single S teir top character ever? cause if you put them in other series. Say guts or naruto in one piece? one piece is gone. So what determines a character is how well they are versed with their own series which most mcs do quite well however imo luffy does it a notch above them.
its not about how genius luffy is or how much tears he dropped. its about him representing his story and that's freedom.
exactly. luffy is EXACTLY the perfect protagonist that one piece could need. he doesn't need nuance to be incredibly written.
no, deff not S tier material. and if it was, naruto and goku aint A tier. everything naruto and goku have done is better then luffy, name them rn. better villains then one piece, i would say one piece has better story after seeing new chapter but boruto still cookin so we aint talkin bout that, naruto leads a village, you could say luffy leads some fleats like the barrier guy dude, but they never see eachother tbh, goku stronger, worse backstory, i mean luffy doesn't even have a bad backstory other then his brother dying, i mean naruto whole clan dead but alright,

Ichigo isn't aloof tf he's not Goku are Luffy even Naruto they are loofs not Ichigo but you was spiting facts out side of that.
@@King_ace22 ichigo is aloof. He’s doesn’t come across friendly and is always scrawling. He’s much quieter than other protagonists that’s why many overlook him and prefer luffy /Naruto. *SPOILERS for tybw cour 1* Ichigo is way more symbolic then just wanting to protect his friends :/
No one brings up the fact that his name literally means to protect.

Minor mistake but it’s his Hollow and Shinigami powers on the larger blade while the shorter one is his Quincy powers

Idk I may be bias, but ichigo got disrespected.
That's called a teenager growing up
I think y'all underestimate Gon as a protagonist. On the surface level he seems simple but to me he's so interesting with his questionable morality and slight insanity which is seen throughout the series but more upfront during the Chimera Ant arc, he's pretty complex. I wish more people took the time to analyze him than just see him on the surface
Gon’s a better mc than 95% of the tier list but ppl ain’t ready for that🚪🏃🏿💨

Yuh he at least deserved A tier, I feel like the argument they used for Emma applies to him on a different but much greater scale. His character during the Chimera Ant arc was way entertaining and relatable than Mob or Senku (no diss to them tho)

That's the same reason I like Naruto too
Its because he uses third grader logic to convince 200 year villains that being tortured and hated your whole life is ok because hes gonna be the hokage believe it.

I just watched this and turned it off after her comparing the 2. She on drugs lol
Especially when everything she said to praise David can literally be said about Ichigo.
Naruto was not raised nor he had friends, in fact everyone hated him, he didn’t had that privilege like most others.
Ya man just because he make one mistake she just went down on him and besides he paid with his life no other character does that man fuk.

She said it perfectly, Luffy causes character development and MAKES them change. Goku just makes everyone physically stronger but everyone's characters are the same since Z(only in db and a did he actually develop others characters)
The powerscalling argument doesn't work when comparing stakes cause quite simply the world government destroying ONE island has more ramifications and impact on the One Piece world than the earth or galaxy or universe getting destroyed by the next stronger villain of the week.

Luffy isn’t just a great leader, he reads everyone very well and brings the best out of all of them. the thing is, Naruto, Ichigo, Gon and many more anime protagonists do that, they make people around them better.
Like, what the fuck was that?

i am agree, he is the normal of the big 3, and had a great development.
this is the whole reason i fucking despise one shit piece.. luffy

The talk around the big 3 and Goku was absolute insanity. Gabe was speaking common sense the whole video and no one listened.
fr
Exactly people always think that a tragic backstory equals character development

Sure Luffy is inspired by Goku but for me he perfected that blueprint of typical Shounen MCs especially in terms of selfless behavior and very high EQ (Emotional Intelligence)
While Luffy isn't the sharpest tool in the shed his Emotional Intelligence is very high as he can sees through someone example as Nami in arlong park, Robin in enies lobby, and Sanji in WCI.

You missed the whole point of what being a pirate king is to luffy. Luffy wants to be the pirate king not because he wants to be the best pirate or the strongest pirate there is. The only reason he wants to become stronger is because of his friends so he can protect them while they go on a journey.
