As someone who used to be a guitarist but hurt myself during the pandemic, making vaporwave opened a whole new world to me. Plunderphonics and sampling can create some of the most unique sounds out there.

Man, Death's Dynamic Shroud music is like those abstract paintings that people shrug off as "my 4th grade kid could do better" but have that special artistic touch that only experienced artists can infuse into something.
It’s more than that though, listening with a ear of production, mixing, etc. they’re so fucking impressive

I've been subscribed to their Bandcamp service for a year now. Get a cassette mailed to me monthly and haven't been disappointed with any of them. These are just fun mixtapes meant for the fans, not part of their true discography, but I can see why some people hate this "pay-wall" they set up(to support them during Covid so they can focus on more albums)
I have no idea what to expect from their next reap full length album, since all these mixtapes are vastly different and all over the place, but I have no doubt it'll blow me away. I'm surprised Fantano hasn't reviewed I'll Try Living Like This...

I think Genesis Owusu is going to be higher, while that's the score he initially gave it he has said it's grown on him more as the year has gone on.
It's a good guess, but some albums might be higher or lower, as it happened some times ago
Sometimes albums grow on him even more through the year after its review
he said smiling with no teeth grew on him a little, so it may go up a few spots

I think this will be the only time that I'm really up on a record before Anthony gives a review on it. To think that it couldn't get any bigger than the fact that it's Keith's first solo dds mixtape, but that it's garnered this much attention is great, both for Keith and his music and the group as a whole. If it ain't a good day to be a NUWRLD Clubhouse member, then idk what is.
conceptually I always have loved how DDS have been SO outside of the box compared to some contemporaries. Not only in subverting typical genre tropes: ie sampling modern pop music as 1 example. But also how their records have pretty strong, cohesive and distinct narratives. (but in a more abstract sense if you pay attention to the general sound palette and mood) Their derelict superstructure record is my favorite since the album cover is one of the most effective visual communication art pieces for music I have ever seen.

@@TheResidence.mp4 its just not as good as the older music it was inspired by imo. Its still a great album but a tad overhyped because its drawing a pop and hiphop audience that isnt too familiar with the genre and easily blown away (and more power to them)

OLYMPICS is still my fav, but I'm SO GLAD that DDS are getting the recognition they deserve. I'm more of a fan of Tech, but everyone just do their job and they feed the same universe. I'm one of those people that find joy in music when its getting more into the mainstream, I don't care if other people mess with this language without delivering much. I just want to see what people can do with it.

This is really exciting to see. As someone who’s been in their mixtape club for a lot of the year, I was hoping for exactly this kind of breakout buzz around one of the albums, both because I love dds to death but also because I think the subscription model they’re using could be a game changer for a lot of other artists and fanbases if they give it a chance.

Yes! A great electronic music album in general, agreed on it going beyond the genre. Fun fact: we heard from Keith on our Discord, and the "moment of silence" is a simulated "end of the cassette fakeout before the bonus tracks" specifically referencing old-school Green Day secret tracks at the end.

This is my first introduction to the vapour wave genre and holy moly, what a genre it is.
Well I'm into this on title alone. Great fucking band name, like seriously I can't state how important a badass name is in getting your name out there. It can do a lot. Think about this before you take to music, or really any form of art.

I just investigated more DDS earlier today. Just to be needed made me shed tears
It's funny because James Websters output is what made me fall in love with DDS at first. Then I really got into Tech with "Classroom Sexxtape" and "SeaWrld 2". Now finally with this release I have started to understand Keith's influence on the group as a whole and what he brings to the table. Besides Nmesh I don't think Keith has much competition as far as mastering and creating a clean, rich sound out of whatever source material they want. These guys are fucking super heroes
