Yes and no. Yes, because they are a gacha game. Gacha itself is predatory even if the company themselves are generous. No, because this is just another case of the US government being a b*tch to China and funny enough this occurs right after that TikTok ban drama. If the US really cares, they might want to deal with US game companies like Ubisoft, EA, Blizzard and etc. And if we’re talking which gacha games have one of the worst gacha games, I can list a lot of them and even some with no pity at all.
they should've just locked the top-up page for players who are below 16
Good idea but.. what's stopping people from setting the age above 16?
And how are you going to tell them apart from everyone else? Mabye, just maybe, parents should parent their children. *GASP* I know, shocking! Keep your government domination fetish to yourself please.
They dont care cuz either way they wont get money from
how to know if ur below 16??? u can fake ur age, if u make a google play/gmail/yahoo even games sites can do it???
in china they can... coz they need identity card to play online games 8hrs a week of gameplay
@@mayieshigure2525 they did this in battleground games where they just asked you if you were above or below 16 straight up
US goverment: GENSHIN IS STEALING MONEY FROM CHILDREN🤬🤬🤬😡🤬
Meanwhile The Sims 4, Minecraft, Roblox, Valve, EA, Fortnite been doing over many years and kids were stealing parents credit card: * nervouse sweating *
Why did you mentioned Valve or Minecraft?
@@richard1017 Csgo... literal gambling xD. unlike genshin you can actually win something with real value
The sims 4, minecraft and valve are odd mentions since two of those are full games.
Sir, in late 2022, Fornite paid a total of $520mil for the problem, the $20mil we are seeing is nothing
@@richard1017 Minecraft Bedrock edition is full of microtransactions
why is there always some sort of stuff happening in the gacha drama space fr, not a week without some shitty stuff happening i swr😭
i think all these drama attract FTC. then, FTC takes the action
I mean it is a space of gambler, all are addicted obviously there is something retarded happening everysec in a corner.
only in america
Drama is part of the gacha content
The ftc have been looking at games with loot boxes since 2019. This has been going on in the background for a long time.
Any slap at gacha company is welcome. Sadly it's still too slow and we need to ban any MTX, lootboxes and gambling system in games. Videogames should be videogames, not an enginered psychological systems to scam you out off as much money as possible by FOMO, gambling addictions, etc.
I'm not quite too sure how the top up fully functions security wise but let me put my perspective on things as a parent and consoles.
Several years back I had a similar issue where my son did something similar with Fortnite on the Xbox. Now I had my credit info saved into the system as my son wasn't the only person to use the console, but I had it saved where any type of purchase required password verification. My son discovered that he could make in-game purchases that completely bypassed the console's security not requiring a password verification. When got my statement to realize what he had done, Fortnite support refused to refund any of his purchases. From that moment on I deleted my credit card info. Every now and then I'll make a purchase and have to add then info again but immediately go to my account to delete the stored card info as they don't tend to let you do one time purchases like that.
As for Genshin I don't remember as I personally haven't topped up in any gacha since Zhongli's initial banner release, so it's been a while.
Do NOT save your payment info of whatever kind to any device that is used by your kids. If you do safe this info to such a device and let your kids use that device without parental supervision then you are just a very bad parent. The government should not bail you out from your own mistake.
I only spent money during the pandemic, but once the pandemic ended, I weaned myself off and now I just play free to play and I still play like every week. I like this story, not natlen so much
We Genshin players from Brazil are already discussing how this whole situation could affect us in a near future...
Tbf me and many others agree that people under legal age of majority should be banned from playing gacha games...
I think this is moving to the right direction. kids under 16 have no business playing these gacha game. they are too predatory. if they want kids to play it, make the system not predatory as it is right now. this is all gachagame, genshin and wuwa included. Wuwa should also set their game to 16+ imo.
however, I do believed that this change literally nothing. who else go to adult website while they are under 18 and simply click on the "i am over 18" button? this is not stoping any kids from accessing these game and their predatory system. however, this set a layer of accountability to the company, and it is somthing moving forward the right direction.
also, make game like FiFa do the same. FiFa is even worst at this than any other gacha
20 million is nothing to a multi billion dollar company like Hoyo. Should’ve made them pay at least 500 mil or even 1 billion for getting away with this for 5 years.
Bro shut up Lmao. Have you seen EA especially Cod doing these loot oxes yet they weren't targeted? Your being biased because you don't like Genshin grow up kid 😅
Company makes 6 billion using shady business practices...gets 'in trouble' 5 whole years after launch and only needs 20 million dollars to pay off the fine. Yea that'll show em
That's like a cent for them now🤣 What a "punishment"
@@iamjustice1995 exactly hoyo has four games genshin , hsr , zzz , honkai impact 20 M is nothing
@@gojos_blindfold They probably can earn it in a day or 2😂 This is such a joke.
Hahaha 6 billón 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Just saying all this claim of "LOOTBOXES" in genshin and 20mil fine happening while EA and more other shooter game with direct lootbox system with no gurantee pity still running around freely.
They actually don’t care about that, they only care because its Chinese.
Lootbox not bad. Same as alcohol not bad. But when you sell them for kid, that another story.
True. But how does this work tho? The kids would have to get their parents consent and money to make purchases right?
@@Tomouryu Consent not needed, only thing that is needed is knowing where the parents keep their bank cards.
@@idminister *sigh* Kids these days are growing a little too fast.
c ya genshin, 90% are no longer allowed to play 😂
the damage will spread watch out hi3 star rail and zzz
@@dragledge739 and WuWa if the FTC is really concerned
what kind of parents?
the kind that have kids that know where the parents keep their bank cards and dont care about using those bank cards without consent and are fine not telling their parents
the: "its better to ask for forgiveness than permission" kind of kids
Unpopular opinion: only those who can beat my hologram should be allowed to access the top up pages
Honestly, the whole government VS parents thing is completely missing the point. Games with gambling-like features should simply not be rated 12+, it's that simple.
I remember Pokemon had to remove the casino that used to appear in all of the early Pokemon games because it SIMULATED gambling, and there wasn't even any real money involved.
So I am not sure how actual gambling with money ever got past that restriction in the first place.
nothing will change
I also hope FTC look into how much a character cost in a Gatcha game.
they wont its not in their purview. at most they can regulate into mandate that the price of chracters (hard pity) be displayed on banners
Bro I watched porn sites when I was 14 this shit is useless hahhaa
I understand lots of the points they make about the rates and stuff and agree that children must be protected from the predatory systems of gacha games also how some infos about the pulling system are indeed misleading in Genshin's pulling system
Yet some arguments like how they hard try to make it seem like Genshin is a game oriented for children using intentionally pictures of Paimon(as a argument she is the mascot), Klee and Nahida when there are by far more older characters. Also this "buzzin" as a prove that it's a slang used by younger generations.. Actually i was thinking wtf. Seems like whoever did this thinks that cliche that everything that looks cartoonish even anime is still cemented. Or intentionally tries to portray it like that. It seems forced and almost like a prank document made by someone if it weren't for the serious and true parts in the document.
Still there is some truth in this. I just hope they extend to more games not neccessarily. And the parents should also take better care of their children for they don't let them reach the credit card or best case not let them play gacha games at all.
Ah yes, the 20M fine for a company that win billions in a month.... The fact so many minors have and will have gambling addiction for the rest of their lives because of companies like this. Gacha should be 18+ minimum if they want to keep being a casino.
from what i understand. with this, genshin gonna change or remove the genosis(premium currency). and limited character might can be purchase with real money instead or gacha(for someone who wants to buy the character).
i might misunderstood this laws. please correct me if i wrong
Gacha is allowed but they must provide option to buy them in easy to read/track monetary value ( not using in game currency ) for the character .
"the intermediate" currency is still allowed, but real money costs must be displayed. so the display can show both
and what is annoying is that in hoyo's game before GI: HI3 and in ZZZ the banners have counters showing # pulls til next pity both for thelesser [4*] and and greater [5*] rewards
so since league of legends is pegi 12 rated (with riots new business models) im praying ftc will slap em on the cheek as well with a fine and force them to do pegi 18 rating etc i doubt it would make them consider how bad they have become compared to what they used to be and they will prob keep going down the rabbit hole of questionable business models but still at least we could say that ftc tried hope more countrys start to crack down on it tho
also to the question who to blame or who should take action well let me say it this way parent should 100% take action and blame and the government should 100% take action and blame cuz there is always gonna be bad parents but there is also always gonna be bad governments and the only way to make up for the bad governments is by having good parents and the only way to make up from bad parents is by having good governments so by both taking action/blame leads to a smaller chance of it happening
League does so for cosmetics purpose only so it's the same as Counter Strike, not sure anything will happen
@@giangtrinhtruong7952 i mean that is true maybe they wont go after cosmetics only you right
I mean this wasn't a problem in china sorely because china literary require your ID to verify your age in the first place.
i think ALL gacha or lootbox games should be affected, or else this would look like a "targeted" attack
The sssniperwolf video in question evidently (I've seen the clip on other people's channels idk if it's on hers, lowkey don't wanna give her views anyway lol) shows an edit of a purple color "10-pull" in which she pulls Zhongli after in fact 12 pulls. So, yeah, the RNG was bussin because of some editing or something fishy going on.
LMAOOO SSSNIPERWOLF IS INVOLVED WITH IT, SHES FINALLY GONNA BE RELEVANT AGAIN LETS GOOO
WuWa is safe because it's a 16+ game, and that's the only issue the FTC has with hoyo because their games are all 12+ and thus, according to hoyo, "suitable for children". So yes, they would do well to implement these changes to all of their games, unless they want to risk more fines.
Really? Look again buddy. Wuwa us 12+ and neither of it description provide any warning of: gacha or gambling. That also goes for pretty much all gacha games.
@@risingstar9903 When you start the game there is a checkbox "I confirm that I am at least 16 years or older" that you need to confirm every single time before you start the game, also you even get kicked out of surveys if you enter that you are younger than 16. So maybe there is an issue with whichever store you read this on, but it's safe to assume the actual game is 16+.
Why do children have such an easy access to their parents money? Why is it always someone else's fault and not parents?
Ill be filing a lawsuit withing 2 weeks to get my refunds from genshin
“Genshin is going down in a couple of years” bruh they just released the game on Xbox, it’s not going down anytime soon.
where is the hoyoverse respond?
is hoyoverse a reddit post and article?
The only reason this went thru is because genshin is made by chinese company XD. CS2, EA and many others have been doing the same for years without any issue.
time to ban loot box.
greed has it's price 👀🤞
100% parents need to do something instead of sticking an ipad in kids' faces and letting them do whatever they want. Yes hoyoverse shouldnt be predatory but parents actually need to watch their damn kids.
the whole point of a ipad is to give kids entertainment and let parents do jobs around the house whilst they are given the chance. parents cant watch kids 24/7 and need breaks or time to sort stuff out like house jobs, i think yall forget a lot of parents are single mothers or single fathers too so they got to do everything themselves. one parent goes to work whilst one stays at home to look after the house and kids some even have multiple kids at that and i dont think uk how exhausting it is for the parents. yall are so quick to blame parents when u dont even know their situation and ignore the whole purpose of electronic devices for kids, one purchase is all it takes for their card details to get saved and what is a way to treat kids that aint interested in toys? paid games or in game purchases in which, if parents dont do it things like that then their aunts grandmas whatever will lend the money to the parents so they can treat that child and are basically trapped into putting their card details it does happen. ye some parents dont care but some actually do look into the game in the appstore to see if it’s suitable for their kids in which mihoyo never states in the store that its a gacha game that traps u into buying stuff with their predatory system so again is its the parents fault who checked the game out and mihoyo states its a f2p child friendly game or is its mihoyos fault for taking advantage of kids and hiding the fact its gacha + predatory game? thats why they getting sued and its very much mihoyos fault and depending on the parent it can be the parents fault too but grouping all them together is just plain sickening especially when there are parents struggling and putting their trust in that game to provide joyment to the child and provide time for that parent to have a break or clean or provide food on the plate for the child.
@@Silks-q8r Mihoyo statement is that it's a game for teens and young adults. Nothing about children. They even have something called TOS.
I think it's wrong to either blame one side or the other. Parents can do more for their children's protection but of course Gacha games can and should do something about misleading information and that children can't purchase the lootboxes.
06:32 you mean big portions of them?
They should have banned genshin, it would have been so much trolling those gamblers
YEP Better Close the US server to much Drama like the English VA who tf likes English VA anyway lucky wee play Defeeent server
@@jarfallfall5170 i like English va. and many other people too
What sense would that make exactly?
Hoyo should just close the US server its main profit is CN ser and theres still Europe and asia server who cares about US Like VA wee only like japanese VA hahahaha
I agree but ya know they can just use North VPN to change their IP address.
Good idea, but hoy bans players using 3rd party software that manipulates in-game acessibility and fps booster stuff.
Sure f*ck all the ones in the United States who wanna just play the game in peace right…
