      Yes, it´s by far my favorite plant. You can make any utensil from it, any furniture or weapon and build your entire life and home around it.
      If that is not enough, I love the sound of the leaves in the wind, the fact that it can store water for a traveler and even help
      build an entire water system including pipes with it but he chose another plant this time!

    BOTH sites with their respective "instructors" are great sites. They each show DIFFERENT skills and crafts, depending on what materials are available in a particular given environment. The floor mat was impressive, and so easy to make once you see someone actually do it.

  • @Phrsmy

    Why he is not talking, people ask. I'll make it even simpler than other comments trying to answer such questions.
    The water running is beautiful. The sounds of animals and insects are beautiful. Nature's "commentary" is what gives his videos serenity and beauty, more than the content itself. The reason why he does not talk, is not because of a language barrier, as stated by others here, but because he wants you to feel the happiness that nature brings, undisturbed and unspoiled by a commentary. Look beyond certain aspects of his content and you will realize why he does certain things... for you. I highly appreciate listening to nature while watching him making beautiful content.
    Great job @Primitive Skills.

    Quoting Primitive technology one month ago in the video "Primitive Technology | Big Wooden Mortar And Pestle" : "Good work Wooded Beardsman. I see some negative comments about your use of the term "Primitive Technology". It should be noted that the term "Primitive Technology" is a description of this hobby and NOT a trademark that I own. To trademark the term would be like trying to trademark the term "Fishing", and that would be absurd. I encourage you to make videos however you want and call them whatever you want. If you want, pin this comment so people can see my opinion. Keep up the good work, Thanks." So please stop the hate against this man.

    • @davesworld7961
      @davesworld7961 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      MrSebacame Yep I saw that comment a few days ago. Primitive Technology is grateful when people report the unauthorized use of his video content but he doesn't want people trolling other users making their own content and being hateful trolls in his name.

    • @JusBidniss
      @JusBidniss 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      And that SHOULD be the last word, but I bet it won't. If the man himself who's supposedly being copied and infringed upon, weighs in and says he's cool with it, then all these little butthurt haters SHOULD accept that and slink off and find other non-issues to complain about. I guess that would presuppose they actually care about Primitive Technology's rights, when the truth is they only care about virtue signalling, stroking their own egos, and portraying themselves as the only wise arbiters of all content everywhere. Ugh.

    • @bitsnpieces11
      @bitsnpieces11 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah "primitive" & "technology" are both descriptive words and are common for anyone to use. "Chlorox" is a trademarked word for 'chlorine bleach' but the company "Chlorox" won't send you to prison for using it, just be nice about it and don't try to make money off it. If a word is a common descriptor you can't trademark it.

      Thank you for the video! You deserve a lot of credit for your skills. I recommend removing "Primitive Technology" from your tittle just so you don't get so many 👎 from people. The content is great, they are just disliking your video because of the tittle. Good luck!

  • @Cricket101382
    @Cricket101382 7 ปีที่แล้ว +192

    Not sure why all the hate in here. Primitive Technology doesn't have a monopoly on primitive tech and as far as I know Primitive Technology has never made this. Personally I think they both do a pretty great job. I mean you people listen to more then one band right? This hate makes no damn sense. There are like a billion let's players out there and no one is out hating on them because someone else did it first right?

    • @rachelh1384
      @rachelh1384 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Cricket101382 it's not exactly the issue of that exactly, but it's the way he goes about doing it. For an example, it's like this guy was a fan of Frank Sinatra and went and called himself Frank Sintara unironically. And then goes about making albums and songs with a comparable style was him.
      This guy could have less backlash if he just went along with this in a more original way.

    • @Cricket101382
      @Cricket101382 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Pretty sure my "Let's player" example covers what you're saying.

    • @JungleScene
      @JungleScene 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      using the exact same title is a scum bag move. the content is not a problem, but pulling the wool over peoples eyes is.

    • @Cricket101382
      @Cricket101382 7 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      I don't remember seeing this title anywhere in Primitives Techs page. Sure he uses the Primitive Technology part but I see nothing wrong with that. What he's doing IS primitive technology. Again I refer to my "Lets Play" example. Hundreds of channels use the term "Lets Play" in the title of their videos with no issues, This guys uses "Primitive Technology" in some of his and suddenly it's pitch forks and torches.

    • @KarcusKorpse
      @KarcusKorpse 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Seeing all the hate comments really makes me mad. I love primitive technology but he doesn't post that often. I was wanting to find another channel similar, and here it is. Every genre on TH-cam has multiple creators doing the exact same thing. This guy obviously has been doing this kind of stuff long before he posted videos. "Primitive" can't be copyrighted, it's open to everyone. This guy makes amazing content. Just shut up about the "but he copied!" crap, y'all sound like school kids.

    • @spbeckman
      @spbeckman 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think most people don't dislike the content, but they are upset with the style.
      You can think of it as a company that behind selling a soft drink named "Cokke" in a red and white can. The product might be just fine, but it will be viewed by most consumers as a copy of "Coke" and therefore lower value. By changing the style and name, even if the taste is the same, will give an seems of legitimacy.
      Producers, whether they market products or video, need to be careful about the branding of their product to make a distinction between their and prior brands.

    To anyone who is so butthurt with this channel being so called copy of "Primitive Technology" .. Yes the concept is same but execution and skills are different. Stop bashing this guy and just learn.

    • @silver9416
      @silver9416 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      The execution is different? Like how the camera angles and editing style and content matter are exactly the same? If you were just watching primitive technology and then this video popped up, you might not realize it was a different youtuber, that's how much he has copied primitive technology.

    • @HeadPats-vi7jm

    • @amyla9575
      @amyla9575 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mike Cast does it really matter? That's how technology has evolved from the primitive to what we have today by using knowledge from those before and building from it. Like if some primitive guy was making a fire using drill method and he saw another guy making fire with flint would he be wrong to copy him? He wants to share his obvious skills and thought primitive technology video style better than others be silly of him to not to use what he learnt about video presentation from watching primitive technology

    • @hypnos2794
      @hypnos2794 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's about millenial kids wanting to be unique.
      In reality this kind of technology would be shared and done the same way from continent to continent. It's not the same as your VIMEO so-called artisan videos about low-skilled hipsters doing normal stuff with sepia filters it's just educational stuff.

    • @eavening4149

    do people not understand that "primitive technology" is a descriptive title that has been used long before the Primitive Technology youtube channel existed..... Fanboying a channel on survival skills is stupid. The information should be the benefit of the video, not the person. Besides that channel uploads like once every couple of months. Why would you not welcome more videos in the same spirit/format regardless of who is making them?

      I dislike his videos not because he used the name "primitive technology" but the similar style he potraited himself, some of the ideas, and the way he shot the videos. If the way he made some of videos of his would be written in the plain scripts and compared with primitive technology, the similarities are too much and I believe you can call it as plagiarism.

    Fantastic videos, you seem to know what you're about so I imagine it doesn't bother you, but please continue making videos and ignore all these fools. These skills are our shared heritage and rediscovering and sharing them in a way that encourages us all to reconnect with them is important, the work the do is good and proper and those who really wish to understand and learn these things will see you for what you are, a teacher. Their confusion stems from a filter through which they see the world that only allows them to see marketable products and brands. It's clear to me that the guy who runs "primitive technology" is an inspiration to you and his style bleeds into your work, why shouldn't it if your vision is the same?

    all these people complaining about this guys videos fail to comprehend the most important aspect of these skills: knowledge of regional materials. to make a basket you need to know what to make a basket out of to build a house you need to know whats makes good timber for frames ect. What you use in Queensland Australia isn't the same as what you will use here in the south east U.S its' not the same as as what you find in the north east or the rest of the country and its not the same material as whats found and used in this guys part of the world. even if he straight up takes every single video that primitive tech has and makes his own version of it that should still be fine with everyone because he is showing people how to utilize the materials in his part of the world and that is the most important aspect of any video of this type, you can learn to weave a basket anywhere, the important bit is learning what you can weave it from

    the words "primitive technology" isnt owned by Primitive Technology. He said so himself. Its literally the hobby theyre both doing. I find it really annoying whenI see a comment that says "oh PT was first" like no, these skills has been done for thousands of yrs

    When the Chinese entered into the Korean war....Every Chinese soldier had a mat and when airplanes were overhead they covered themselves with the mats.......they were able to insert 200,000 troops undetected that way.....of course they were all on foot.......cheap , simple and at the time....worked great.....FLIR would probably see you....maybe not in the daytime though

    shouldnt you be cutting the grass with a reverse motion? instead of pounding on it with a "blade", wrap it around it and pull against it beign able to cut every fiber by friction

    I know theirs guys channel name is kinda "copied" or whatever. For all the haters, can you even do this yourselves? Like even if he did copy some items, it still took a lot of work and time to make these stuff.

    Oh my God! Can't you people just watch the vedios and learn something? This guy is very intelligent and the things he post here are different from what is on that other show. And most importantly, it's free. Just stop with the pointless arguments and learn a useful skill that might save your life someday.

    Is it really worth the time you were making it? I mean I doubt it will help if the ground is wet from rain and it cant provide much isolation from a low temperature, can it?
    I get the point of that thing, but how much is it fulfilling its purpose on a scale from 1-10?
    By the way, great videos, I love this "primitive technology style", keep it up, I immediately subscribed! :)
