I looked at another TH-camr’s video done a month ago and what is shown of Coral Beach is not what I’d call a beach. Due to erosion, this is what it looked like: lounge chairs under trees, maybe 12 feet of sand in front, then a stone retaining wall. I’d say the van driver told you right, Morgan.

My daughter went to medical school in Grenada. I visited her a few times. While she was in class I would tour the island on my own. I used the public bus system. It's the craziest system ever. You hold up your hand to flag down a bus. Then you tap on the roof when you want to get off. They do fill up the whole bus, so if a person in the back needs to get out, almost the whole bus has to empty as they use the aisle fold down seats. It was very inexpensive and sometimes I would get the driver to take me to my doorstep. Of course I gave him extra. Just an interesting way in the Caribbean.

He definitely did not scam you he did exactly what he was paid to do. Try to send you to a better beach or rather the beach that he was promoting but in the end he said if you wanted to go to Coral Beach, he would take you there too you made that final decision. I think it was a better decision because Coral Beach has a lot of erosion right now.

Love Grand Cayman - the Tender ride over is fun - we just kind of hang out around the port and grab a local beer and maybe something to eat. Very relaxing and inexpensive.

Unfortunately due to erosion Coral Beach no longer has a beach. You have a level where the restaurant, dining area and rest rooms are then a wall where you walk down stairs to a strip of sand and the sea. I live in the Cayman Islands and the only place on island where you have beach front access where you can get food and drinks not connected to a hotel are located on the other side of the island at Rum Point. The restaurant on 7 mile called Calico Jacks is supposed to be opening back up in the future but currently it is closed.

I would definitely say a couple of cocktails were involved since Morgan the entertainer forgot the words to Sweet Caroline!😂

By 7 minutes in I hoped that your depression lifts yet it appears that the “beach section” of your day was not the plan that you expected. Sweet, Caroline btw! ❤

It was a reliving your childhood nap, not an old people nap.

I live in cayman. The best beach probably would be rum point but its further from town towards the east. Coral beach is missing a beach at the moment and isnt what it once was. Seven mile public beach is nice but does lack good food. There is a beach bar coming soon though, it has been closed since the hotel purchased it. Not sure how prices will look. Public busses can save a few dollars but the taxis are easier.

You probably already know this, as far as touristy places go. I was in that industry long ago and we got perks/kickbacks/incentives for taking people to specific places. It's made me very skeptical from the start of my cruising life, so there's that benefit I got from it.

This is why i research before I go and go see for myself. i recently went to grand cayman and in plans i wanted to go to Tillies where the beach was quiet. I went by taxi van and got there and it was too quiet. They have public vans there so i walked to the street and caught the public bus for $5 to the free beach you were at and enjoyed my time there. So if you wanted to spend more money you could’ve left. It was only $2.50 for the public bus.

Sorry but I am sure he got a kick back for you going to the resort he recommended to you. It’s hard to know if they are actually giving you the whole story or just making a few extra coin.
There’s a good chance some of the people that were selling food were either friends or relatives. I think if you have made a plan & checked out where you want to go just do that, if it’s not as good as you expected at least it’s what you wanted to see.
Great video, the islands are always gorgeous.

both could be true .. he obviously is there to promote one (he has a "billboard") and the other could have had erosion issues (or not and he's trying to reduce stops, as time is money)

I guess that does kind of seem shady, but honestly, I think it might have been to keep the cool air inside. Some people had been sitting in there for quite a while already.

Hi Morgan 😊I went to Grand Cayman on the Celebrity Equinox at the end of September 2023 and you may have possibly been scammed. The island does have public taxis about 1.5 blocks from the port. These taxis are quite reasonable. I believe there are 3 different colored routes that take you around the island and will pretty much drop you off as close as they can to your requested destination. I did not personally use them as I wasn’t venturing far. I wanted to see the town. However, I’ve researched and although available, they do operate on island time, lol. I’m glad you made the most of your day 🤗
