The cultists aren't just using the mother nature figure as a machine (to yield better crops, a la unsustainable industrial farming practices), but they're literally paying for it with the peoples blood, using them as mere resources or fuel for the "machine". @@_diabetes6495 I don't think they found her caged. One of the flashbacks shows them walking up to her as she was sitting near a tree, wearing a gray hood and smiling.
The action scenes are still reminiscent of "The Raid". And I meant this in a good way. Haha. Hats off to Evans for another masterpiece. Also, the cinematography was beautiful.
Holy shit this movie was crazy! So many things happened and crazy gory. But not just a movie all about gore it actually had an interesting story unlike saw and Texas chainsaw you know?
The guy who played Malcolm , his real name is Michael Sheen, he played ARO in the Twilight movies, he also stars in Masters of Sex.. great actor. so many crazy roles , you wouldn't expect it when looking at him from his picture or watching him in Masters of Sex
He did not loose his faith, he took it upon him to do the right thing in this debacle. Thats why i think its the best scene, as the burning cross falls another one glows on Henry. Great scene also is when the leader is trying to lure him out, he not just prays, this time he cast aways the drugs and she is spared. This movie really was one of the best that came out recently.
What I love about good filmmakers is that you can always see flecks of their previous works appear in their body of films. For Gareth Evans, it shows up in this period piece religious horror film in the fight scenes that while nowhere near as grandiose as The Raid films, still becomes apparent in that he uses steady cam to film them clinically and his fights have quick, visceral almost-primal feels to them. It's just a little thing I've noticed. Lol
Quinn the goat 🐐 men like him rule the world. Men like him are the celebrities and politicians running shit behind the scenes. It’s sick, it’s realistic. It’s genius in the most evil capacity. There are many real life Quinns’… you probably hear about them in the news a lot and don’t recognize it.

This movie was surprisingly pretty great, and the overall message was nice. How peoples’ selfish and ignorant actions destroy and corrupt the nature around them but also bring their own doom.

the scene where the father quinn is confronting his daughter is honestly m favorite scene because of the dialoge, i feel like alot of movies these days are mostly action and big fight scenes and just forget how a good script could make a movie great.
I think at the ending, they guy was just absorbed and that the goddess was just trapped in a body. He set her free, she paved the way for his loved ones to escape. He knows he is the sacrifice at the end, because she is the island. Thats what the guys did before, trying to control her.

Fun fact, I’m Welsh and I’ve actually met an actor who’s in this movie, the prophet guy, his real name is Michael Sheen he came to my primary school when I was younger, also if I’m not mistaken a lot of this movie is filmed in Margam, and if you’re from South Wales you end up going to Margam at least once whilst being in School, kind of weird seeing this being a popular movie because being from Wales we never really get a lot of big movies or nothing shot around here, just kinda cool
I just watched this movie and I think at the end, the boy Derek was transported back to that dimension where the main character killed him, so he won't be coming back plus they burned the house down. I would love for him to do a video on it though!
Honestly, before his delightful commentary on these movies I never really had an interest in horror movies. It's his love of the genre that has shown me that horror movies are quite awesome.
Am I the only one that watches these videos even tho I never heard of the movie he’s explaining?
Giovanni Weede i do that too LOL I’ve never even heard of half of these movies I just like his explanations
JaeKobrax haha
I try too but i never make it to the end . I get too excited and now want to watch the movie
Yeah, why watch the movie when you get a great explanation!
That’s what everyone is here for😂
Holy shit this movie was crazy! So many things happened and crazy gory. But not just a movie all about gore it actually had an interesting story unlike saw and Texas chainsaw you know?
Platinum Bishop i loved the movie
Wasn't the dude who plays Malcolm the leader of the lycans in Underworld?
gillecroisd 92 he thicc now 😩
@@thiccboi374 he just got older bfhd
Lucian!!
That is awesome!
"OH, SHE DEAD" lmao im never getting over that
What I love about good filmmakers is that you can always see flecks of their previous works appear in their body of films.
Lol
I started crying when watch Jeremy’s death scene but then just had a bunch of anger towards Quinn afterwards 😤
Gawd I love Dan Stevens. I first saw him in Legion, and he's a great and funny actor. Do more stuff Dan!
This movie was impressive. Dan Stevens really gave his all to his role, he is always amazing, and I just loved the story. Gave it 9/10
Edit: nah fuck it, it's 10/10.
Just watched and I think it was really good
7/10
5 years later, this movie is absolute shit with no plot 0/10. Beautiful visuals though
Thomas is pretty cute.
He definitely is.
Dan Steven is so hot it hurts. Those EYES
@@bananatiergod He has that intense smouldering look
Gareth Evans has some serious damn skill with the camera the varied shots, movements and angles were awesome and really take it to another level.
I enjoyed this movie, it's so hard to do something original and I found this was original enough that I really ended up enjoying it. Although the ending didn't really need explaining, I'm always happy to see your channel wrap up something I viewed a few days ago and I am also happy you seemed to enjoy it too! My pick for a film for you to do an Ending Explained is The Ninth Gate!
I regret skipping this movie at times. I found it to be slow burning at first then started watching again after the girl told her boyfriend about the pregnancy then I was hooked, it was amazing.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that John Wick needs your help
He needs your mommy's credit card number, expiration date and the three wacky numbers in the back
@@mpw26 And don't forget, John Wick needs a Gold Scar and a couple a Chug Jugs, so make sure to max it out
The people on the TV say that if I don't send them the credit card numbers then John Wick will game end mommy.
John wick also needs all your v-bucks. Gimme gimme

Can you do the haunting of hillhouse please? I loved the show and I'm curious what you thought of it. Anyways keep up the good work man these videos are awesome
He's is. He announced it on Twitter.
That show was freakin phenomenal. I thought the ending was actually slightly on the weak side, but the rest was so damn good.
@@Sandybowls_9001 thanks for the info dude. Don't do the whole Twitter thing lol

Alternate title: "Outlast 2 The movie"
Eh people only say that because it has a few similarities
@Char Aznable was outlast 2 not good?
@@trampustefertiller6246 I loved it! I did see a lot of similarities in this film however, such as the music and the Grinder beeing similar to the heretics, etc etc.
@@CoasterWalker I actually liked the heretics more than the Knoth group and I don't know why-
@@trampustefertiller6246 it was good but not as good as outlast one as the story turns out to be pretty inconsequensial to the main story and is literally caused as mere unintended side effects of the work at the asylum
thank you for this 17 minute version of the full movie, no new ideas, theories or anything. Great word for word repetition.
This really sounds like it could be a horror game, especially with all the sneaking around and running through sewers/rivers of blood! I got Outlast 2 vibes from the whole film.

I was literally waiting on an foundflix video of this movie, cause I had no clue what the ending was about 😂🤷🏿♂️.
This film felt as if they tried to cram an 8 episode mini-series into a 2 hour movie. So much background/exposition left unexplored/unexplained.
This movie was surprisingly pretty great, and the overall message was nice. How peoples’ selfish and ignorant actions destroy and corrupt the nature around them but also bring their own doom.
Man has to travel to a mysterious island to find someone and finds a strange cult there.....
Is this WICKER MAN???
It's a lot of places.
Kinda reminds me of RE4
Y’know, evil fanatic religious cult, damsel in distress, mass genocide conducted by one man.
Edit: okay now it’s starting to remind me of Outlast 2
Oropher420 RE4 is an amazing game
Omg yeeees!!! the villagers and the chiefs gave me the vibes of the los illuminados & ganados in Resident evil 4 game, thought i was the only one haha
saharXposh worddd 😭fucking love re4 best re game
its reminds me of outlast 2
I watch his vids to understand movies or simply find a new movie to watch. Great work keep it up
I love movies but never have time for them, your explanations make it so much easier to enjoy plots without having to sink time into a movie
the scene where the father quinn is confronting his daughter is honestly m favorite scene because of the dialoge, i feel like alot of movies these days are mostly action and big fight scenes and just forget how a good script could make a movie great.
your channel made me love horror films, thank you!
Did this movie remind anyone else of Outlast II?
Fax
FOR FUCKING REAL MAN I HAD THAT FEELING THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE FILM!
FUCK YEAH
It’s the tree people
I think at the ending, they guy was just absorbed and that the goddess was just trapped in a body. He set her free, she paved the way for his loved ones to escape.
He knows he is the sacrifice at the end, because she is the island. Thats what the guys did before, trying to control her.
So good at explaining this, it’s like I already watched the movie without watching it, good work, subscribed.
Legit just watched this over the weekend and I'm so happy to see you've done an episode on it because that ending left me scratching my head!!! But I think your theory makes sense. Another great video! Keep it up man!
Happy 1 millionth sub man, keep doin' wat you do best: Explaining
👌👌👌👏👏👏
The Jeremy & FFio subplot was bittersweet.
Hey prolly the earliest video ive ever caught by u guys
I've started just watching your reviews so I don't waste my time. Thanks for sharing your reviews!
Omg I am SO glad I didn’t watch this when I was barely a teenager with my dad. My innocence would not only be ruined but I would be forever scarred.
Oh i actually never conected the life stock stuff with the pregnancy scene. That makes sense.
Yeah, same. I just thought it was the typical "DAUGHTER NO HAVE BABBY" cliche.
I
WANT
A
SEQUEL
NOW!
seriously I love this Movie!
What will be the sequel then?
For me it's a movie that doesn't need a sequel cuz that will ruin everything.
A prequel would probably be better
Congrats on one million
this is probably my favorite of your videos.
I was very impressed by this film, and I had no idea that was his work in vhs 2. No wonder I loved it so much.
"the river" hmm that's a nice way to put it....
Damn those hoodes taller than kkk members not being racist

You ever notice that cultists never bust out the clean clothes until it's time to sacrifice some poor sap?
I thought it was a brilliant movie & the ending where he’s being assimilated into the island he’s smiling so he’s at peace with what’s happening.

Dan Stevens is one of the best and most interesting actors right now. Great Flick!
Can you do Seven In Heaven next? The ending was really confusing.
I just watched this movie and I think at the end, the boy Derek was transported back to that dimension where the main character killed him, so he won't be coming back plus they burned the house down. I would love for him to do a video on it though!
OMG no one knows about this when I talk about this movie! I loved this movie!!!!!
Honestly, before his delightful commentary on these movies I never really had an interest in horror movies. It's his love of the genre that has shown me that horror movies are quite awesome. About having the spoilers, the commentary makes me want to watch the movies more which could be stupid for some but oh well. Thank you and have a good day.
Jeremy's punishment death is probably the most gruesome I've seen tbh it made me puke a little in my mouth. Infact this movie probably has the most gruesome kills and murders I've ever seen in the horror movie genre.
I just watched the movie and i gonna say the story is interesting and i hooked up instantly than most of other Netflix films.

Just watched the movie.... I had to pause the movie every 15mins... it’s insane *decent horror movie* 7/10
I feel like this movie was inspired by Outlast. I’m not complaining, but I definitely get the same vibe from the both of them.
I just watched this film for the first time and I really liked it! What a surprisingly well made piece of art!
One of the most underrated movies of all times

Please do "The Nght Come For Us." The movie really need a shout out & it's fitting as an action bloody horror movie.

I say you are an great at explaining movie it hard to find youtuber like you. And by far you are one i like to see.
The resemblance with Outlast 2 is too detailed to be a coincidence!! It’s mindblowing.
